  1. I got something similar from WWF magazine in 1996. I don't remember if they were that much, but one day in the mail I got a catalog featuring all of their VHS titles for some reason. Weird thing is is that the subscription stopped a few years earlier. To bring this back on topic Burt's got stories for days in these.
  2. Someone please tell me there's a "wrestlers hawking merchandise" comp. I'd buy it for the lulz but mostly I'd get a bit of a sentimental buzz, reliving the glory of Dusty Rhodes telling me the virtues of the Ultimate Warrior "suck cup".
  3. The boxing match with Mr. T was one of the worst things ever done in a wrestling ring, but Piper's promo on the Coliseum tape is probably one of my favorite-ever promos. I agree that a Roddy/Shawn feud would have been good business in '92. I seem to recall them having a match right before VIII. Kind of sucks that he left right after WM that year, he could have helped things go along more smoothly after Hogan left.
  4. I'd started reading the Apter mags a few months before this, had a little sense of who he was, but this was the first time I'd seen him on television.
  5. All I really remember about this is how stiff that low blow Chyna delivered to Neidhart looked.
  6. I'd always heard that happened from a match with Abdullah where fire was involved.
  7. And to bring this around to my original point, he had New York City while the other guys couldn't claim to have as much stroke in Chicago or Los Angeles, the two runners-up to NYC as major American cities (or unofficial capitals if you like). If Vince, Sr. was the big cheese in a place like Albuquerque, New Mexico or Des Moines, Iowa and someone else ran NYC, we'd be talking about that someone else right now.
  8. The piece of music is called "Thinking and Feeling" by Larry Owens. It's from a 1984 album called Powerpulse, I'm assuming it was made for aerobics classes back when they were starting to get popular.

You can get the smaller models at reasonably sound prices.
  10. I love those shoots. Bobby is more like himself from 10-15 years before, his storytelling and friendship with Cornette really shine through. I love their stories about dealing with fans in the old territory days.

Comcast charged 75 for WM (in HD, 70 for SD).
  12. Um... What's the Um for? Couldn't find a good pic of it at Wrestlemania 7, and so I found this from survivor series instead. Fair enough. 90 and 91 was an interesting time for the WWF design-wise, the gear was becoming more and more colorful and their overall aesthetic was changing to reflect the new decade.
  13. WCW had him on the upper card for awhile, most notably in his Halloween Havoc match with Simmons. Then he basically vanished once Watts was gone and wasn't seen until his brief stint with WWF in 94-95.
  14. He reminds me a little of the actor John Vernon (Dean Wormer in Animal House).
  15. Worst: Honky Tonk Man's "suspender" tights, pre-WrestleMania III. He said in the '87 Timeline that he hated them too. Warrior's flesh-colored singlet, in fact anything flesh-colored. Too homo-erotic. Whatever that thing Jeff Jarrett wore on top until like '97 or '98.
  16. For a foreign title, that's not half bad actually. This was so much better than Beyond The Mat. Everyone seemed more at ease with the cameras (probably thinking little of it will ever see the light of day, as it was really just going to be a puff piece on Bret for Canadian television originally).
  17. This was just pure balls and a bit of class on Rick's part to do this. Bret praised him in the book for doing it and in a segment on Bret's first DVD with WWE about everyone no longer here, he gets a little emotional when talking about Rick. Bischoff's shoot reaction behind him is fantastic.
  18. Seems rational considering the egos involved.
  19. There are pictures, but nothing that I know of filmed, closest I can think of is this Flair/Steamboat match with Andre as ref.
  20. Probably just lip service. Between this and what WWF did on that same night, it seems the Big Two thought they could milk this for publicity (with Princess Di's death the major news at the time).
