I only caught the ending of it, and Orton's body language told me this was a shoot.

Why Bill spread himself so thin with those mags is beyond me.

Surprised to still see that "2 magazines in 1" gimmick going.
  4. For some strange reason (think it might have been a prank or inside joke), one day the Bulldog/Warlord match was spliced in at the end of our morning announcements at my HS.
  5. Sounds like this will be better than my first thought. The no doc part really turned me off originally, now I think I'll pick it up. Sounds like there's one to me.
  6. Amazon has it up for Pre-Sale, with a release date of September 10th.
  7. That was a good move, I think. Savage's post-match promo did a good job of killing that aspect of the character.
  8. What's to explain? Marks will pay him for it. Why make it for free? What a lot of podcasts do, and I think this is smart, is make the last say 20 or 50 free but if you want the older ones you purchase a premium version of the show. Not articulating this right but Meltzer could do this and rake it in even more I think. Plus it would give his show much more exposure.
  9. His promo style, the howl, they definitely would have made him change finishers because of Bret. And at a certain point they'd probably make him lose the face paint, too.
  10. He would have been Sting in name only. They would have changed everything else.
  11. Has Dave ever explained why he hasn't brought his own podcast to iTunes?
  12. Despite all this I believe the claim that they moved from the stadium to the Sports Arena for security reasons. Likewise the threats on Slaughter's family.
  13. No way in hell Sting would ever get a deal like Rock or Lesnar did. WWE are such star-fuckers for anyone who could bring them media attention, and the only attention his signing would get is from the one that really doesn't matter to them. Us.
  14. The best scenario for Sting getting in WWE during that time, is if they went with Luger instead of Bret on top. There is no doubt in my mind that they would have repackaged him (they probably would have had to, as WCW would likely have claimed Sting as their creation), as someone who could be a serious contender to Lex's title.

On Twitter it said they were doing his new theme song, debuting this Sunday. So I guess it's gonna happen then.
  16. He was also in a tag match, partnered with Bret in Japan right around the time he won the title from the Iron Sheik, too.
  17. I really believe Randy would not have taken him under his wing like Ric did.
  18. Yeah, same here I'm sure. Won't spoil it but there's one story that has stuck in my head since hearing it, and it obviously still sticks out in his memory too. Sad.
  19. This discussion was in another thread and something I think we can expand upon. Inherently, my instinct tells me no. He could have had a few hot angles to start out with, but eventually they would have moved on and repackaged him like they did virtually everyone else they got from the purchase.
  20. What exactly is at the heart of Irv's hard-on for taking Vince down?
  21. One t. He wrote about it in his book.
  22. I maintain that the single greatest moment of the Monday Night Wars was when he appeared on both shows the same night, especially the shoot promo he cut on Vince. The look on Bischoff's face is fantastic.
  23. I've never got the impression that Sting is a guy who keeps working because he needs the money. That could be a faulty impression. But he strikes me as a guy that is really happy to be a big fish in a small pond for the sake of being a big fish, and that he has enough money put away that when that loses its shine he can go home. He might have made some good coin in WWE doing the Sting vs. WWE Legend Series. Plus a DVD, maybe two. One for Sting pre-Crow and one post-Crow. But I think he'd rather just be the big fish in the small pond, and if he's happy, so am I. Sting had every right to turn WWE down once they marginalized and repackaged the WCW talent that had come in. I really don't think he would have been any different, unless someone like Flair (and maybe Hunter? did Sting ever work him when he was in WCW?) really vouched for what he could have done for the company if they didn't meddle with the character. Then maybe it could have worked. Otherwise I agree that he's the rare example of TNA being good for someone.
  24. Was Dusty that over in NYC? It would have been interesting to see them transition from a local hero to a southern guy.
  25. Love the story Zbysko told on his Timeline about Putski. Fans are screaming rather racist Polish jokes at him, but he goes after the guy who calls him short.
