  1. Scott Hall talked about how when he was pitching his idea for what eventually turned into Razor Ramon, he floored Vince with lines from Scarface done verbatim, later to find out that he'd never seen the movie.
  2. That is what really killed him in WCW, is that he was untethered every week on Nitro and not guided by someone like Vince who probably knew the character better than Jim did.
  3. I really liked the match he had on Raw with Flair, simply because it was Hogan and Flair having the match they had quite a few times in WCW to a WWE audience (and I distinctly remember this being the first show they did after the name change).
  4. I heard the first part of that a few times. It wouldn't have surprised me, as it would have fit bringing back the Blue Blazer character as a goof on 80's babyfaces.
  5. According to Tully's shoot interview, he took the match thinking it was going to lead to a job and for whatever reason once he got there it was looking like Terry was going to get that spot instead. And once he got wind of the situation, he made it known he wasn't happy about it and pissed pretty much everyone off. So if it felt like a burial, it probably was one.
  6. It was strange that they were teasing that it might be Hogan, which would have either meant he'd come in as a heel or Parker was turning babyface. No chance in hell of the first scenario happening (at the time) and the other would have just been very strange. Would have been better to have the Flair/Steamboat rematch here instead of on Saturday Night. Philadelphia wouldn't have been the perfect spot to turn Flair heel, but it would have been a good start.
  7. My perception of him is that Vince created a monster. This is me, in total hindsight and considering everything I've heard about him from guys like Dibiase said in interviews and what Bret wrote about in his book. On the other hand, it was a great idea of a character. It took the Road Warrior gimmick to an extreme closer to Marvel Comics than Mad Max. He was lucky that he had people like Hulk and Randy (and even Rick Rude before them) to lead him along, in what can now be considered merely passable matches.
  8. I vaguely remember one of his few appearances on WWF television in late '95. I'd heard of him through the Apter mags, but it was very odd to see someone else with Flair's music and the robe. An NWO "Nature Boy" would have been cool, but only if it was Ric.
  9. Who's bright idea was to have Barbarian and Warlord as faces?
  10. Can someone tell me why, WHY, the show with Alvarez isn't free on iTunes? With the right sponsors, they could get more exposure as a podcast.
  11. I'm not watching, but there's a Big Show heel turn coming isn't there.
  12. Why is this in and their previous match from Wrestling Challenge isn't? From the sound of it, and after seeing it, it sounds like that was the better match. Dibiase getting bent all out of shape after losing was a great moment, with Razor teasing him.
  13. Found out today Elijah Burke has a small appearance in The Dark Knight Rises
  14. Well, look at the gimmicked ones Jarrett used all those years. It usually exploded on people's heads and made for a nice visual. This one takes a few shots before the back comes off.
  15. I liked that in '97 WWE, at one point half the talent were stables. Hart Foundation, NOD, the Boriquas and the biker stable. Don't know if there was more, but that roster seemed pretty full of them at that point.
  16. Didn't Jake have splinters of fiberglass in his skin as a result of that injury? Those are a bitch to deal with, and I can't imagine the kind of pain you'd get from that.
  17. I guess they're finally realizing their over-reliance on NCIS reruns.
  18. At the time, I liked that Nitro was 3 hours. I went to one of the first shows once they went up an hour, and it was a hot card. But the problem proved to be Thunder, an idea Bischoff was very opposed to from what I heard. A better idea probably would have been to ramp up the budget for the Saturday show on TBS. I have to be honest in that I'm very curious to how WWE will adjust their flagship show to three hours. It really could go either way, as long as they work more on what the show strong and not expose too much of their weaknesses. Or they could do what we all think they will, and we'll have a 3-segment Brodus Clay musical number to crow about.
  19. I was completely blanking on that name lol
  20. And that Rock was likely the last star to have had a start in Memphis, right as it was about to bite the dust.
  21. Turning them heel was good, I won't disagree with that. But I meant they should have just kept them apart and left the issue of a possible feud between the two on the back burner, possibly by putting LOD with another team like Power & Glory or HTM & Valentine.
