THANK YOU- Comments that don't warrant a thread - Part 4
I enjoy it from time to time. Fortunately there are other topics of interest for me to look through and discuss.- Comments that don't warrant a thread - Part 4
Ok, I have to see this. Here you go- Comments that don't warrant a thread - Part 4
No, the only time they did it on television before 1993 was in 1986 when Harley Race became "King". They did it a few times in between those years, Savage won in '87 and I think Bret Hart did in '91 too. They were all at untelevised house shows.- Comments that don't warrant a thread - Part 4
God help me I'm getting into an argument on Reddit about Savage's run as Macho King and people are throwing out that he won the '87 KOTR as if it's somehow in relation to that.- WWE Network... It's Here
Why are they editing the matches? I suspect for reasons related to the limitations of the VHS format. They aren't substantial cuts, but still annoying.- What Happened When with Tony Schiavone
What's the best watch-along? I did this with Bruce's show on the '88 Royal Rumble and really enjoyed it.- Heyman to manage Rousey?
Except in the Mid-South Coliseum- WWE Network... It's Here
Bobby Heenan even goes a little out of character about it.- Heyman to manage Rousey?
That's all probably much closer to the truth than a lot of us would want to admit to, I'm sure.- When it comes to older footage, where is your balance between original broadcast presentation vs new high quality picture footage?
Getting to the original question of picture quality, I like watching old VHS rips of stuff on YouTube. As long as it sounds at least audible I'm fine with it. There's a certain charm to mono tracks for older movies. I noticed this when I first started buying DVD's that I found the 5.1 surround tracks too clean.- Heyman to manage Rousey?
I read that Rousey's involvement is being used as a tool to help Stephanie become more of a "mainstream star". Why doesn't she just manage Rousey then?- WWE Network... It's Here
Most Unusual Matches features a really compelling voice-over from Jesse Ventura explaining the types of matches featured. It also annoyingly edits a few of the matches.- When it comes to older footage, where is your balance between original broadcast presentation vs new high quality picture footage?
Going back a little on what I said before, watching Hogan come out to "Eye of the Tiger" at MSG gives you a pretty good idea of just how over he was at that point.- When it comes to older footage, where is your balance between original broadcast presentation vs new high quality picture footage?
For some reason "Sirius" is left in during Steamboat's entrance at The Big Event. I'm guessing because it's not as audible as it might have been on other shows. I don't mind it so much when they take out well-known songs from major artists, but music that was originally in those videos and nowhere else. The replacement of the music on those old CHV's is quite sad to me (but I like the new music on the later ones). Someone on here mentioned Bischoff talking on his podcast about how he got "Voodoo Chile" by Jimi Hendrix for a fairly reasonable price in WCW, but that it would be impossible now because of how many platforms it would be on. Makes me wonder how much WWE had to pay for using "Cult Of Personality" for CM Punk and now "Bad Reputation" for Rousey.- Something to Wrestle with Bruce Prichard
Pretty sure it wasn't released on home video until the DVD boxset from over a decade ago.- Raw 25th Anniversary DVD
No Blu-ray?- Something to Wrestle with Bruce Prichard
They have a YouTube channel now, mainly with excerpts from the shows, which I find quite useful for not having listened to every single episode thus far. Conrad asked today on Twitter if they should do a video version (that I suspect would go up there), I think it'd be cool but just do excerpts of the best stuff visually instead of having the whole thing up.- WWE Network... Am I hearing correctly that in addition to the 10 CHV titles announced already that an additional 28 titles will be released Monday as well?- Hall of Fame 2018
Looks like the Dudleys will be the tag team going in this year- Andre The Giant HBO doc
To hear Liev Schreiber talk about WrestleMania like it was the World Series or Super Bowl in the voiceover will be well worth it for me.- Andre The Giant HBO doc
So this has been talked about for awhile, at first with ESPN as part of their 30 For 30 series, but switched over to HBO when Bill Simmons left. HBO Sports have made some amazing documentaries over the years, and I'm really looking forward to seeing how they do this, their first full-length doc on professional wrestling. Andre was given the A&E Biography treatment in the late 90's, and while it gave some glimpse into the man inside, I expect (especially given the crazy amount of access given to Simmons and the director by WWE and research gone into it) this to go much deeper. Deeper perhaps on a personal level, but I also expect this to do what the Flair doc did to a degree which was make something for the HBO audience as much as the WWE (or long-time wrestling) fans.- Rape culture in pro-wrestling
