Commentary teams for MSG, Philadelphia Spectrum, Boston Gardens and MLG 1984-1992
Mooney didn’t fare as well doing live commentary as compared to the stuff he did on Prime Time calling prerecorded matches with Hayes. Heenan carried him pretty well on the one show early in 91 they did together from what I heard of it

WWE on ABC could be huge The TGIF era

CM Punk Fired
This picks at so much of history that’s gone before but also just the psychological underpinnings alone of everything going on in both companies, in a year in which the business’ most horrific tragedy will be on the big screen and on a day 28 years after things really began to change, it’s almost funny if it weren’t so sad too.

CM Punk Fired
Clearly nobody is going to come out of this smelling like roses, for awhile anyway. Tony did the right thing but as many have noted it’s been maybe too long a time coming too. That said this could also galvanize the company against the sort of Chicken Little-ing this news tends to dredge up. As for the man himself I just hope he retires and moves onto something else. He’s smart, witty and could find himself in a better place without the industry again.

All Elite Wrestling
It would really put to test what he thinks is best for business if he makes amends with Phil, or just lets this current story play out enough that it makes it clear enough to the new bosses this is a headache they don’t need. Of which they obviously have a few at the moment.

AEW All In Wembley - 8/27 - Bruv, This Has All The Makings
Watched Collision last night and now I can say I’m properly hyped. Whatever deficiencies in the booking or this guy not getting along with that guy, really melts away when considering the way this roster of matches has been set up, as basically the company’s coming out party internationally as it was when it began four years ago. I thought this years WrestleMania was perfect in a way I didn’t see coming. It felt more reflective of the entire history of professional wrestling in ways that were just multiplied by everyone’s effort and ingenuity towards putting on the best show possible. I think today will be no different, with the added twist of it being London and Wembley Stadium and a new market for a company that is as different to WWE as it also is obvious that they’ve been enriched by talent on screen and off that honed their craft either in the WWE or elsewhere across American indies or internationally in some cases.

The match he had with Pedro Morales in Boston from 86 was quite a treat to watch randomly during lockdown

Entrance Music
I love Camel. They were one of the last bands in the first wave of 70’s British progressive rock. Andy Latimer is a superb musician, on the guitar especially. Didn’t realize someone used their music but makes a lot of sense. https://youtu.be/UfyutJ-QHcs?si=lTU1CkOG5oqD2wLx

RIP Terry Funk
His WWE Hall of Fame speech was particularly touching concerning themes of life and death in pro wrestling.

Comments that don't warrant a thread - Part 4
Larry and Tony Schiovane briefly discuss the Shea Stadium match at the first Slamboree during that shows infamous cage match. I saw a thing with Bret more recently giving Rey Mysterio his props, to the point which he said he regretted not working with him in WCW. He seems to have aged out of some his more ignorant views he expressed when he was younger and in his book, thankfully.

Dark Side of the Ring
I disagree, but don’t think it was meant to be a full time series anyway just something of an interesting side note to stories featured not exactly fitting the format, but essential to understanding the culture of the territory era. And some of the round tables were really good. Watching Jeff and Jerry Jarrett talk together was a touching thing to see.

Not so much an odd pairing but two names I didn’t think I’d see next to each other, Ric Flair and Big John Studd were tag team champs in the Crockett territory for awhile- Ted Dibiase runs the gauntlet
He wore the suit in a commercial for the action figures- Rap N' Wrestling
We didn’t get Smackdown, UPN wasn’t on our cable package. I feel so old typing that now lol. So when I first saw John Cena come out in the 2003 Royal Rumble I thought the gimmick was so bad. That show was a roller coaster between the godawful Steiner/Triple H fiasco and the thorough pounding Kurt Angle and Chris Benoit gave each other.- GOAT actor stuff
James Gandolfini = Vader. Not sure where I got the brain wave on this but it has more to do with the presence on screen/in ring combined with the eventuality that you’re also watching someone who is just a genius at what he does. I didn’t see much of the end of his WCW run but when he was a babyface in the WWF he made it work. I would add Earthquake to that list too, he wasn’t bad for a huge babyface either. My favorite Gandolfini performance is in Sidney Lumet’s Night Falls on Manhattan, playing a dirty cop and the partner to Andy Garcia’s character’s father, played effortlessly by Ian Holm. In perhaps his more well known film roles, Gandolfini touched on things he explored deeper on The Sopranos but also made his presence felt in sometimes surprising ways, such as in this or in his last film 2013’s The Drop.- Is the empire crumbling before our eyes?
LA Knight sounds like someone whose name you’d only find in the PWI ring results from some really cheap indie show.- [2000-02-27-WWF-No Way Out] The Rock vs Big Show

I like Graves and the English guy. Cole and Wade have really good chemistry too. I thought WM this year was an almost perfect show and haven’t heard it this well announced since JR and the King.- Young Rock: A New NBC Sitcom About the Life of Dwayne Johnson
