  1. I think the better scenario is if Flair left in 1990 after dropping the belt to Sting, which almost happened. WCW would have stumbled a little, but I think they would have made it through.
  2. I had a subscription to it from '92 through '94 I believe. The immediate thing I noticed was how well their photography was compared to the Apter mags. The WrestleMania X PPV program was a thick mofo with tons of pics from the first 9 WM's. Of all the magazines I collected and eventually lost, that's the one I regret most of all.
  3. I would think they would ax the more controversial segments.
  4. I don't understand why the networks just let them post the episodes a week after they air. It's not quite the same case, but FX has the unorthodox method of putting their stuff up On Demand a week and a day after they air. It would make sense for Universal to allow WWE to do that, as they don't really rerun the episodes themselves anyway (besides the Raw A.M. thing they may still do, I'm not sure though). One thing I like that they're doing is the "Beyond The Ring" stuff. Tonight has their Road Warriors doc which is one of their best.
  5. I liked it except Bret believing in his own hype and occasionally steering an unrelated topic back to talking about himself. It would appear that it's true that he and Flair have buried the hatchet considering he put him over a little stronger than in previous interviews though still voicing his old criticisms.
  6. I really, really hope the Nitro's go up again so we can do a back-to-back review thread of the whole show, not unlike the epic death of WCW thread we had going.

Understandably so, I'm sure. It must have not been too big a deal since he hasn't said anything since that I know of (otherwise I wouldn't ask).

I asked this before, but nobody answered but I am really curious especially in light of all these firings. Is Droz still technically employed by them?
  9. Bah, you're right. Think I might have dyslexia :/
  10. The big demerit against Vince for me is the persistent cheerleading for the heels he did on SNME. Jesse did well against that and looks better in hindsight, but he didn't need any help there. Vince comes off a little better in the mid-90's but I didn't like him at the time. I can stand it now though. I actually wish there was a way he would come back. With the right booking it could work.
  11. I'm with Loss, I'm sticking around too. Sooner or later the obvious to us will become obvious to them. I still think it's the best idea they've had in years, and that it is a risk that will eventually pay off.
  12. In my lifetime and experience of watching things live, Jim Ross pretty much had it all. He excelled in meeting all of that criteria, and managed to do so overcoming personal struggles with his BP. I have made my views on the Attitude Era pretty clear, but during that time, of both companies, he was far and away the best guy.
  13. From historyofwwe.com WWF @ Inglewood, CA - Great Western Forum - January 15, 1994 The return to the venue after a 9-year absence The Headshrinkers defeated the Bushwhackers (sub. for the Smoking Gunns) Diesel pinned the 1-2-3 Kid after catching him in mid-air and dropping him face-first on the turnbuckle Bret Hart defeated Jeff Jarrett via disqualification WWF IC Champion Razor Ramon defeated Shawn Michaels in a ladder match IRS pinned Bob Backlund Crush defeated Randy Savage in a falls count anywhere match after Ludvig Borga interfered and prevented Savage from getting back into the ring within 60 seconds of being pinned Lex Luger & Tatanka defeated WWF World Champion Yokozuna & Ludvig Borga when Luger pinned Yoko; Luger had hit the champion with the running forearm but was knocked out by Borga with Yoko's salt bucket; both men were down until Luger crawled over to make the cove
  14. One thing I think makes a heel fan is that they see them as the ultimate underdogs because they are characters designed, ultimately, to lose. I think this speaks more to how "real" it can feel for us. Those same people are likely not going to go into a movie and cheer for Bruce Willis to be killed. Yes they'll laugh at the villain's one-liners as much as they will his, but they'll jump cathartically when he gets his due in the end like the majority of wrestling fans would.
  15. Don't forget Hogan pearl-harboring Sheik in the beginning of the match. I don't know how much of that aspect to the character was in the AWA, but it's pretty consistent through his big run.
  16. I never understood why they went for the Sports Arena (who actually played there? other than wrestling all I hear about that place are concerts, specifically for being the first show of The Wall Pink Floyd played) when they could have booked the Great Western Forum.
  17. That's not all, as Bret almost had a punch-up with Shane sometime during the weekend of that show.
  18. Jesus Christ, his wife's name is Judy? They wanted people to see Hogan before they went to bed. It's not that too far away from what SNL has always done, which the show was a replacement for. Put the high spots up front and prioritize the rest.
  19. Realistically I don't think WWE would want the TNA library. Considering that the Network is slow going on putting up much archival content as it is, I don't see what the point would be. Plus I would guess the next move by Dixie and company is to milk all they can out of merchandise.
  20. Jake wanted Pat Patterson's vacated spot in creative, and when they didn't give it to him he held him up for a release, not more money. This is almost verbatim from Jake's DVD "Pick Your Poison".
