  1. Anyone who thinks Cena went into his business for himself there is mentally ill. Having said that in the unlikely event that paranoid lunatics are correct this time, Vince is the stupidest man who ever lived for not firing everyone on the production crew for allowing a wrestler on a live mic to hijack his tv time for several minutes without his approval and against the grain of the alleged storyline.
  2. Adonis/Savage v. Tito/Bruno in the Cage is a blast if you've never seen it, with the heels taking lunatic bump after lunatic bump. Adonis/Bob Orton v. Midnight Rockers is probably going to be one of the "sleeper" matches on the AWA Set.
  3. Bix give us your thoughts on the Kings Road style
  4. No bullshit I was about to point out the fact that the existence of Apter Mags also helped those secondary titles a lot in my mind as a kid as they would talk them up and of course featured the rankings in the back.
  5. 1990 WCW had more good and interesting tag teams than they had good and interesting singles wrestlers by a healthy margin. As a kid I LOVED the concept of the U.S. titles because it felt like an "on deck" position in terms of who was in line to get to the big belt. Also even as a kid the U.S. belt felt like the tag belts that were given to the good, reliable workers, sort of like the IC title in the WWF up until the era of HTM. It's kind of hard to articulate all these years later because I am going off memories that I had as a child. But at the time I loved the idea of the U.S. tag belts and I really liked 1990 WCW which is funny because in hindsight the top of the card was a fucking disaster that year
  6. I don't give a flying fuck what workers call things.
  7. This is the least surprising thing in PWO history. I thought it was passable and had some good moments but the whole match I spent thinking "ten thousand times better if it is a singles match between Bryan and Punk." Hell it would have been better if it was a one on one match with any possible combination of those three guys
  8. Explain this
  9. Yep, Christian as ECW Champion was really over and was having great matches.
  10. The match was pretty clean. Hunico is a good base for Sin Cara and is a good wrestler but they really don't have any clue what to do with him.
  11. I liked Christian v. Cody a lot as the dosey-do spots were all based around countering Christians typical staples. Eight man tag started off pretty eh, but I liked the finishing run and the right team won
  12. Dolph is over and should be farther up the depleted card. I realize he got a title shot tonight but it was thrown together and he wasn't seen as a threat. The match being as good as it was is a testament to both guys, though I don't think they have particularly strong chemistry together.
  13. Man Muraco continues to be bizarrely overrated. Say what you want about Blackwell, but no way in hell anyone with even a passing knowledge of his career could justify voting anyone on that list over Patera, aside from MAYBE Tommy Rich and Orndorff.
  14. Russo is the obvious winner. Who was booking LA when it started to tank?
  15. I am far from an expert, but I really think Cruz is one of the more underrated workers in wrestling history
  16. Watching the Montreal footage which has been extremely fun and has had plenty of pleasant surprises. One of my favorites is "Pretty Boy" Chuck Simms who is there in 87 and is working an obvious Doug Somers rip off gimmick. I fucking love Doug Somers but it is absolutely absurd that someone was doing a poor mans Doug Somers, and yet I defy anyone to watch Chuck Simms from this era and come to a different conclusion. Possibly even stranger than Candido being a Johnny Stewart clone
  17. Where the hell did Dave see sixties Stevens on tape?
  18. Strangely I ordered this at work about an hour before I saw this...
  19. I think Roode and Storm are shockingly boring at this point and I was high on both guys for years. I know every one else has been high on heel champ Roode, but I think he's been badly exposed as mediocre in just about every respect. Storm I think would be fine if he was heel but I think he is hammy as fuck as a babyface. Aries is good but overrated. Bully Ray is awesome
  20. Owen also benefited from the fact that he owned his own Arena in Portland which meant he had virtually no overhead cost in the only town that was actually "his." It's also worth remembering that Vince and his dad weren't particularly close for the bulk of Vince's life. It's not like he grew up a member of the Mean Street Posse running around the CT blowing daddy's money on cocaine and call girls. By most accounts Vince was brought in with limited responsibilities and was expected to make due on his own.
  21. Also does anyone have a decent review of that Chikara show?
  22. The indy draws are all legends none of whom ROH will touch. And even those guys can only draw with the right promotional efforts (i.e. not Gabe and probably not Sinclair either). I get the argument for not flying in the Bucks or TJP but when I look at that roster I see a lot of guys I think suck shit or are boring as piss. As a wrestling fan TJP not being booked - and even the Bucks who I enjoy more as heels who get massacred - is likely to make my increasingly waning interest in that brand dissipate further Then again the show is on twice a week in my area, in time slots that would be easy for me to catch, and I still never watch so how much less interest could I really have?
  23. I think we also have to be careful about what we mean when we talk about TNA getting "good." There is "good" and there is "good for TNA." I actually watch a fair amount of TNA ppv's because I often have little else to do when I'm doing school work on Sunday nights. I have seen a few recently that were perfectly decent shows, but even by comparison to a pretty weak WWE ppv I wouldn't call them better. Part of the problem is they have a roster of guys I dont give a fuck about either because TNA has taught me not to give a fuck about them or because they suck. Regardless of the reasoning there are maybe three or four guys on the TNA roster I have even a passing interest in
  24. Especially since TJP is one of the few guys on the roster I would actually go out of my way to see.
  25. Karate fighter Graham and old man Bob Geigel look like long lost brothers
