Wrestling Culture Episode 56
I literally have no clue how any of that stuff works. I'm not sure Dave does either. We are the two most technically inept people to ever have a podcast

Current WWE
I'd be shocked if Brock didn't hit the ring during the match

Everyone should hate this show. Was very disappointed to see that my comrade Dave Musgrave gave it a thumbs up even though he didn't see the opener. WTF?

Also on Martel I think his accent/ethnicity did not appeal to an existing ethnic base in the area. That combined with his age would have hurt him I'm sure.

WWE Battleground: Live as it happens
Randy Orton stealing Lance storm spots is oddly appropriate.

Wrestling Culture Episode 56
Colon could have done it from a match quality perspective. Of that I'm sure. But they weren't going to do Morales 2.0. To Jerry's point Backlund winning the Missouri Title is relevant and probably should have been mentioned BUT if you are being realistic there were literally dozens of guys in the U.S. who were bigger stars than him at the time. Slater probably should have been discussed on the show. I think he was already getting something of a rep as a crazy, but he deserved discussion. Also worth noting that Senior was very close to both Graham and Muchnick

I wish this was 2007 where Cena could have a great main even match in any circumstance and this show had a shot in hell of being saved. Even a Brock run-in (which I expect to be honest) is not saving this turd

WWE Battleground: Live as it happens
This show has been next level bad. I'm not sure it's even possible for WWE to put on a worse show than this. Given the number of Network issues I am still having, and the shittiness of this show, I may dump the Network and go back to piracy

WWE Battleground: Live as it happens
That repeat spot did not bother me as bad as it normally would because the camera angle was so bad I couldn't even tell they had botched it until they went and repeated it.

Very good point that I should have noted. Having said that he was brought in specifically because of the fact that he had heated up as a great heel for McGuirk opposite Bill Watts.

WWE Battleground: Live as it happens
Makes sense that he would heel on IRS kid given all his tax troubles

WWE Battleground: Live as it happens
Maybe we will get some blood in this match. Hard to imagine it being anything good otherwise, but I am not a big Jericho fan at this point

WWE Battleground: Live as it happens
That's possible, but I don't think it's unreasonable to expect Paige to rise to the level of say Michelle McCool. She hasn't

WWE Battleground: Live as it happens
I thought Ambrose looked great in it, but not delivering on the match, or at bare minimum a more extended brawl is just stupid. The booking of this ppv has been pretty nightmarish from my perspective

WWE Battleground: Live as it happens
Paige should be working ten minute matches on Superstars every week against a different Diva. Comparing WWE women to other women isn't asinine it's fair. I compare AAA undercarders who are severely handicapped by booking to CMLL undercarders. I compare WWE main events to guys main eventing Anarchy television. Yes it's reasonable to adjust for circumstance, but it's not unfair to compare them at all. Fuck I thought the best NXT matches the year with the divas stand up very well to the best Joshi and indie stuff. i think Paige v. Emma was WAY better than the overrated Athena v. Lufisto match for example When I said "women in WWE" I was specifically talking about on the main roster. NXT is basically run like an Indy. I don't think the framework or freedom is there for the women on the main roster to shine like that. This is a fair point to a degree, but I do think it's possible that a woman could be a Chris Masters type, who consistently busts her ass on the C-shows and gets a cult following. Instead Paige has not even stood out in that way

WWE Battleground: Live as it happens
So you think the way they have been promoted on NXT will never happen on the main show? I don't care all that much one way or the other, but if they put in a bad performance I will say so. I don't think pointing out horrificly bad work is the same thing as demanding RINGS level matwork, nor can I imagine why any serious person would claim it was.

Well that finish was wildly unsatisfying.
