NXT talk
Kona Reeves is so bad. Not in the so bad it's good territory but just awful. He was alright when he had the big Chinese guy named Jason being his bodyguard on the NXT Florida live events. So this weekend, NXT had the Revival on the Texas shows and Tyler Breeze on the Florida shows. I know it's because Black was in Europe with the main roster and all the callups being advertised but I wish they would do more of this. Especially the Florida shows during split crew weekends.

[2000-08-12-CZW-Blood, Sweat & Violence] Backseat Boyz vs Ric Blade & Nick Mondo (Ladder)
This was the typical Ladder car crash matches. Blade seems to botch more than usual. It takes a special talent to botch a swanton from the balcony through two tables. The Van terminator botch was even worse where he doesn't even try to hide it. Finish was a weak way to get out of the four guys not jobbing.

[2000-08-18-UWF] Billy Reil vs Little Dixie vs Mike Quackenbush vs Don Montoya vs Flash Wheeler vs Zieg vs Dr Hurtz vs Homicide (Gauntlet)
Dixie/Billy was pretty fun with Dixie bumping like a mad man. He lands right on his head. The match goes downhill after Quack and Dixie are eliminated. Wheeler last longer than he should and Dr. Hurtz is a funny gimmick that I don't think he's supposed to be. I did like Montoya getting the heart punch over in 2000. Well as over as he could with the 50 people in the crowd. The finish to the match was really anticlimatic.

[2000-08-12-MPPW-TV] Derrick King vs Seven
Seven is so awkward at everything he does. Derrick did a good job holding this together. That Alabama slam looked like it really hurt. Decent showing getting Seven over.

[2000-08-12-NWA Wildside] Lazz vs Mark E. Mark
Tim Dix's face when Bailey says God Damn is classic. Pre Britney Spears music Lazz is weird but he's still got the gimmick down. Some of the stuff that went down early in the match wouldn't fly today at all. However, Lazz hits an amazing swanton to the outside with the greatest of ease. Mark is the stereotypical indie guy but he was good enough to make this not bad. Lazz's finisher name is amazing.

[2000-08-11-IWC SoCal] Frankie Kazarian & Keiji Sakoda vs Eric Matlock & Devon Willis
Only thing I got out of this match is Matlock and Willis have a real good tag team finisher. Kazarian looked decent and I dug Sakoda's rolling guillotine.

[2000-08-26-GWAS-Zona de Muerte] Tony Arce & Rocco Valente & El Vulcano vs Halcon Dorado Jr & Andy Barrow & Drako (Hair vs Hair)
Andy Barrow is the manager of the Killer from the old UWA days and in AAA. He was never good and he wasn't here either. I'm suprised you don't know Los Destructores. I was a big fan of them in CMLL and the early days of AAA. They have a no violence gimmick but might be the most violent trio in lucha. I think Dorado was in CMLL in the late 90's. Chad is right tho this was horrible. Just went on and on and wasn't exciting at all. Barrow bleeds a ton. The finish reminds me of now adays when people lose a hair match and just cuts a little bit off. Like Fabi Apache. Just kills the gimmick.

[2000-08-26-GWAS-Zona de Muerte] Mascara Sagrada & La Parka vs Fishman & Shu El Guerrero (Apuestas)
Once this got down to the final two, it was pretty good. Fishman is old and can't really go but he gives his all here and has a good last wrestling performance. He even does a dive. Sagrada bleeds heavily. So bad that his white mask turns red.

[1997-03-14-FMW] Megumi Kudo vs Shinobu Kandori (No Ropes Barbed Wire)
I don't know why I thought that was Toyoda before realising it was Kandori but I did. I liked how Kandori brough in wire cutters just to enter the ring while Kudo just went underneath. There was a lot of smart use of the wire. They fough for a while before Kudo gets sent into it. I haven't seen the other two matches these two had but kinda want to now. Kudo gets destroyed but then makes a big comeback. She damn near kills Kandori with a cop killah for the finish. Good bloody match.

[2000-08-26-GWAS-Zona de Muerte] Espanto Jr & Big Warrior & El Indomito & Doink the Clown vs Super Muneco & Enrique Vera & Negro Navarro & Maquina Salvaje Jr
I guess it's true that every promotion had a fake Doink, even Mexican promotions. Enrique Vera and Indomito are UWA legends. I think INdomito was also one of the Payasos in AAA. Not sure which version of Espanto Jr. this is. I dig the Maquina football gimmick. As for the match, it was a old man match with Comedy and some mat wrestling from Navarro. Enrique bleeds a bunch and the finish seems to be setting up a match between Enrique and Warrior. However that wouldn't happen as GWAS was one and done and you can see why.

[2000-08-04-IWC SoCal] B-Boy vs Rocky Romero
B-Boy with hair is weird. Decent match between two indie legends when they were young. The DQ was strange as it should have happened when Rocky hit B-Boy with a low blow.

[2000-08-02-MCW Maryland] Joey Matthews & Christian York vs The Executioners vs Ghetto Mafia vs Dino Divine & Christopher Carmichael (Elimination)
I gotta agree that this wasn't very good. Too many guys in the match and very disorganized. Matthews/York looked ok but they didn't have enough time to shine. Executioners were awful and Cueball/Divine were bland. Great to see Tara though. Big fan of her back in the day. Also, the ref is currently in WWE and sells better than everyone in this match.

[2001-10-13-NWA Florida-53rd Anniversary Show] Steve Corino vs Shinya Hashimoto
Watched this for the secret Santo project. I remember hearing about this match back in the day but don't remember Corino being so skinny. Not as skinny as he was in early 99 but smaller than the later ECW days. As for the match, It was as close of a squash I've seen in a NWA title match ever. Sure Corino got some moves on but this was mostly Hashimoto beating him. That finish was weak but I guess it was a good way out of getting no one to do the job.

[2000-08-22-Monterrey] El Hijo del Santo & La Parka & Silver Star vs El Dandy & Arandu & Silver King
The Dandy/Parka stuff in the first fall was so great. Like two bulls locking horns and slapping the hell out of each other. Silver King stooging for Santo is always a delight. Speaking of Santo, him hitting his partner during his "roll and dive" spot and then diving onto Arandu and the camera missing it was great. Dandy gets beat up bad, so bad I almost feel bad for him. Good match.

Comments that don't warrant a thread - Part 4
Did the show seem different compared to the other MLW shows? I couldn't go but from reading the results, it seemed like they were doing more angles. Especially with Sami and Havoc. Also they are bringing in Jack Swagger and teaming him with Col.Parker which I hope means the return of Papa Swagger Jimmy Golden.

[2000-08-22-CMLL] Fuerza Guerrera & Black Warrior & Blue Panther vs Emilio Charles Jr & Lizmark Jr & Tony Rivera
Always love when Tony Rivera shoots off his gun during the entrance. Lizmark/Panther looks so alike with their ring gear it's distracting. Fun match with Rivera getting bloody and a great Warrior tope. I feel bad for Rivera as he was lost in the shuffle doing a gimmick like Tarzan boy. Fuerza finding new ways to hit guys in the balls is never not entertaining. Fun match.

[2000-08-20-AAA] Sangre Chicana vs Pirata Morgan (Dog Collar)
It's weird to have a match end during a commercial break. Especially a show that is taped but that's what happens here. Chicana bleeds and the match turns into a mess. Tirantes goes after his long time rival Huicho Domínguez and gets help from Cobarde and Pirata. Abismo Nego of all people saves Huicho. The vipers run out to talk to Abismo which leads to the Vatos Locos coming out. Vintage AAA. My favorite is all this mayhem is going down and they cut to some woman bored out of her mind.
