  1. I often wonder if the only reason it didn't turn into a full-on shoot was that Foley was handcuffed.
  2. I think it also has a lot to do with most wrestling fans not harboring illusions (at least historically to that point) weren't always the best people, but having one become a family annihilator was beyond the pale even by already known scummy wrestler behavior.

Normally I'd say yes but considering Jade hasn't been winning many friends in the locker room I wouldn't be surprised if Naomi goes over. Especially since Jade's been beating her ass pretty much the entire build.

Not everything is hitting, but Cody/Cena, Gunther/Jey, Roman/Punk/Seth are all matches I'm looking forward to. Charlotte/Tiffany will either be a great match or an entertaining trainwreck, and even Naomi/Jade has been built pretty well. I suppose compared to a typical AEW PPV with MOTY candidates from top to bottom it's kind of bland, but I expect a pretty entertaining show.

That was the oddest injury too, it just looked like his ankle rolled on the landing which has gotta be the most unlikely result of a buckle bomb spot.

Listening to the Observer Radio from over the weekend, and Dave pretty much states (in his typical Dave way) that Charlotte is in her feels about being programmed with someone who's the younger version of herself which is why she's been going out of her way to steamroll Tiffany at every turn. Also kind of implied that I might have been right and they had Wade Barrett out there in case shit went down. This match has the potential to be a legendary mess at Mania if one or the other decides not to play ball.

Yuta's from Philly, so the fans decided to take the opportunity to tell him to GFY because, well Philly.

The last time we saw them the Bucks were hauling ass out of the building because the Death Riders were causing havoc everywhere. It makes zero sense for them to return just to help Mox win. If anything they should have cost him the title as a "fuck you' for messing up their company. I was shocked at the finish just because I thought the whole reason they did what they did last time was to set up Swerve winning as the big blow off.

Toni Storm going full Rocky for this match is top notch btw.

Big Match Bill getting this show kicked off proper.

Looks like Anthony Bowens is in line for a push which sounds good to me.

All signs point to this being another typically overstuffed AEW PPV that will no doubt have excellent matches but will have everyone saying "dang it didn't need to be THIS long" by the end. I suppose there could be worse problems a promotion could have than having too many great matches on ever show. My big prediction is of course ol' Cope getting Sting'd by FTR, since it seems like the plan is going to be FTR vs Edge & Christian at All In.
  13. just tuned in, looks like i made it just in time

Also it appears that folks don't want to be programmed with Charlotte since she has a tendency to steamroll everyone she's paired up with which was an interesting development.
  15. sek69 replied to sek69's topic in WWE
Meltzer kind of implied they had Wade Barrett be the moderator in that segment in case shit got real, as it seems that Tiffy was out there doing her damndedst trying to keep Charlotte from steamrolling her like in their last segment and Charlotte was getting flustered over it.

I figured he'd have already been back in by now, but I suppose he's going to be a day after Mania moment. I just hope whatever he had going on is better now, as it seemed he may have been having some personal issues.

Cena and Cody throwing verbal bombs leading to Cena getting laid out is what this angle should have been two weeks ago but we got there eventually. Jey having to watch Gunther murder his brother while not being able to do anything about it is gonna lead to the roof being blown off the stadium when he wins the title. Also I still don't get the booking for the women's world title match. They've had both Bianca and Rhea acting like assholes and in the process they fucked around and turned Iyo into a massive babyface. I don't think that was the plan, so what are we doing here?
  18. I get it, but if they are going to start inducting matches that kinda has to be one of them.

I think ol' Cope is about to get Stinged by FTR.

IMO Big Bob has the aura of someone who should be a megastar, but for some reason he's just....not.

Mercedes and Athena is another banger on the horizon. Also say what you will about Tony S, sometimes it blows my mind that the guy who used to do the rundown of upcoming JCP shows when I was a kid is now doing the rundown of upcoming AEW shows to adult me.

Ironically, Sting never lost but in the process he still managed to put over Darby huge in the process. Plus he was so beloved in his last run the crowd probably would have revolted if he had lost.

The tricky part about going up against the company that had a 20+ year monopoly is that anyone you bring in who'd be famous enough to make a difference ratings wise are going to be old WWE guys to some extent. AEW is past the point where bringing in a top name indy star is going to immediately make a difference. It gives AEW some credibility with casual fans by showing they are big time enough to get some well known people from the "big company" to jump ship even if they were a little past their sell by date. Most of us were around to see WCW do the same thing back in the day. Their biggest angle, one of the biggest in history, that shot them to the moon was literally 3 guys famous from WWE beating up the homegrown guys. In AEW's case they've mostly used them help the young guys and didn't fall into the WCW/TNA trap of letting the old guys take over the booking.

Usually when they do this "everyone knows who's under the mask" bit it's the babyface who lost a loser leaves town match. like Stagger Lee or the Yellow Dog. Having the twist be it's all the babyfaces who are all "come on, we know who this really is" is at least something different. Also anything that gets us Chad Gable vs Dragon Lee is golden in my book
  25. In terms of the family I mean. I'm sure they were aware of his feelings towards WWE (which lets be honest, in that context just means Vince).
