WWE TV 10/17 - 10/23 Pray for Uncle Paul
It will be, but I can't deny when the turn finally happens there won't be a part of me that will be like "aww, dang".

Why does WWE keep making Ronda look like she has increasingly worse eye infections? Jesus H. At least they've accepted that she's in that category Randy Orton used to be in where they're 100% better as heels because they both are kind of IRL assholes naturally.

We all love Sami, but is it weird I think it's underrated that he took something as ridiculous as "Sami Zayn gets adopted by the Bloodline" and get it over to the point it's legit going to be a little sad when it ends?

Is the empire crumbling before our eyes?
I don't see Punk ever returning to WWE. Yeah, money's money but Punk is a Hall of Fame level grudge holding bastard and I don't see him ever getting over them trying to kill him with Z-paks. I know, I know everyone's going to mention the Fox show but there's a difference between being a talking head on a recap type show and going back to the daily grind of WWE. AEW gets solid ratings that even if things go sideways with WB/Discovery they should have little problem getting a new TV deal with another network. Also Daddy Carter kept Dixie on a short leash financially and (as far as I know) TNA never made much money under their run. They famously had embarrassingly low PPV buys even when they were getting a million+ viewers on TV and AEW has done over 100k for every PPV they've done. I suppose if you thought AEW was going to swoop in and overtake WWE as the market leader within a few years you were going to be disappointed. WWE is the Name Brand in pro wrestling and has been running as a de facto monopoly for 20+ years, I'm sure that's Tony's long term goal for the future but it wasn't the short term goal. Being able to carve out a spot as a successful #2 company that has partnerships with companies across the world is an impressive feat in of itself, and honestly more than I expected when this all kicked off.

WON HOF 2022
Yeah the Santo/Octagon team is on there pretty much because When Worlds Collide is when most of the Internet lost their Lucha cherry.

So, "Ring of Hell"...
IIRC the bruises left on Daniel were consistent with where your hands/arms would be if someone put him in that hold. I don't think it was ever 100% confirmed but it was one of those "all signs point to" situations. That's also the reason everyone was kind of against anyone using that move in wrestling for a while afterwards.

WON HOF 2022
Recency bias is a hell of a drug. People are going to be more inclined to vote for someone who's either currently being awesome or has been not to long ago as opposed to someone who was a bonafide GOAT in an era where no one had access to watch Joshi like we do now.

Is the empire crumbling before our eyes?
Yeah now that Ace Steel has been fired and Punk is going to be out for like another 7 months or so with injury anyway, it seems like the path has been cleared for the Elite to return.

Is the empire crumbling before our eyes?
I mean he bought the rights to that Baltimora song for Jack Perry's birthday, it's not out of the question he'd get you an AEW show for Christmas.

TK secret PWO lurker confirmed (I say that half jokingly, he *is* a message board enthusiast after all).

Triplemania XXX 10/14/2022 (Part 3 of 3)
Everything at worst met expectations and most matches exceeded them, not the least of which was Vikingo/Fenix. Everyone assumed it would be nuts and somehow it was WAY MORE than anyone could have hoped for. Vikingo is on the 89 Muta/95 Mysterio "doing shit no one has ever seen or done before" level and Fenix is probably the only person on Earth who could hang with him. The match I was worried about was Taya/Kamille because it's not who the fans wanted, but Taya is beloved and got the match over out of sheer will. Announcing that the champs had be pinned in order for a title change in the trios match made no sense and smacked of someone pulling a last minute "that doesn't work for me brother", but we got to see Brian Cage yeet Bandido into the Phantom Zone so it was all worth it. Penta is a made man now for winning a legendary mask, and Villano decided to go out on his shield in what was probably his last ever match in a major promotion (there's always money in working some indies after a mask loss) and decided to just give every ounce he had left. Post-match was a great emotional unmasking moment that had the whole building in tears and was 100% the shit that makes Lucha awesome.

AEW TV - October 18/21, 2022
Tony ain't playing with the mf'ers anymore, bringing back RIHO for the head to head. Also I didn't think it was possible to make her look any younger but being in street clothes did just that.

AEW TV - October 18/21, 2022
To me the word has a negative connotation because UFC taught everyone that means they didn't feel like paying the champion what they wanted and/or "Dana just wanted to have a title match to help salvage this bum ass PPV card".

WWE TV 10/17 - 10/23 Pray for Uncle Paul
I know they are trying to beat AEW head to head, but sending main roster WWE folks to NXT is kind of a no win situation. Either you have them beat all the NXT people and make them look second rate. or they lose to them and make the main roster person look like a chump.

Io giving Byron the motherfucking murder stare while Bayley spoke was great

WWE TV 10/17 - 10/23 Pray for Uncle Paul
I love that Gallows and Anderson have been able to maintain the same "openly carny as fuck" gimmick in pretty much every promotion in the world at this point.

WWE TV 10/17 - 10/23 Pray for Uncle Paul
Yeah I'm not hankering for a Corbin push, but they did him dirty if they expected him to gain any momentum from that.

WWE TV 10/17 - 10/23 Pray for Uncle Paul
If they had only done this before they shuffled the announce teams, we could have got a vintage "MAGGLE".

RIP Humberto Garza Sr.
Humberto Garza Sr, patriarch of the Garza family and star in Monterrey in the 50s/60s/70s passed away at the age of 85. He was the father of Humberto Jr and Hector Garza, and the grandfather of Humberto Carrillo and Angel Garza in WWE. Other than his family, his biggest legacy in Lucha was innovating the Tope Suicida, which low key makes him one of the most influential wrestlers ever.

I mean clearly the company is not going to mention anyone involved in The Incident right now, so that's not surprising.

Comments that don't warrant a thread - Part 4
Wasn't the (alleged) whole reason Shawn lost his smile was because he didn't want to do the job to Bret at Mania? I remember at the time not having access to THA SHEETZ yet and being baffled that they really were going to run with Sid as champ. When you think about it, things probably worked out for the better the way they happened since we got Bret/Austin which was the kickoff point for the Hart Foundation as well as Austin's babyface run. As awesome as a Bret/Shawn match would have been, what we got ended up being far better in the long run.

WWE TV 10/10 - 10/16 Bray Wyatt is if Rob Zombie was a box office hit
I loved the whole Rey/Hunter interaction, both were really good. Rey the understandably distraught father and Hunter the boss who has worked with this guy forever and doesn't want to see him throw his career away over it. Seeing a sympathetic authority figure on WWE TV was almost disorientating in how alien it felt at first, but it was done well.
