Kingston not having any time for any introduction nonsense because asses need to be kicked got a pop from me.

AEW Dynamite - December 29, 2021
Tony pointing out that the heel team has two of the best tag team wrestlers ever in Tully and Matt Hardy on their side is such a small but great thing for an announcer to mention.

AEW Dynamite - December 29, 2021
I just figure if/when they ever change networks they'll just name them after whatever ones they jump to (hey the "USA Title" would fit nicely, lol)

Is the empire crumbling before our eyes?
Charlotte's in a category all her own at this point. Roman at least elevated others and had good matches with everyone. This isn't even like reign of death Hunter, at least he seemed to honestly think his 45 minute NWA title homage matches were good and no one ever got hurt. Charlotte is out here big footing everyone and stiffing half of them while doing it.

There's something charming in the "poor guy who gets money and dresses like a proto-rap star because thats how he pictures rich people dressing" look Dusty would sport. Yes it was just as ostentatious in its own way but he looked like a little kid playing dressup while having the time of his life doing it, so you couldn't help but crack a smile when you saw it. Cody just looks like the asshole in every teen movie that you just want to punch.

Is the empire crumbling before our eyes?
At this point I'm pretty much picturing Vince telling her that next week Charlotte would be dumping dog food on her and Toni just like "fuck this, I'm out".

Is the empire crumbling before our eyes?
Dave confirming Tony quit, and Fightful updated their story to say folks in WWE were blindsided by her asking to leave, but also that WWE isn't in a position to deny anyone requesting a release since they've been using "budget cuts" as an excuse for all their firings.

WWE TV 12/27-1/2 Wherein Vince actively is trying to kill his top star
As someone who's video game nerddom exceeds my pro wrestling nerddom (which this thread is a perfect encapsulation of), this exchange makes my heart grow three sizes this holiday season. (Also @KawadaSmile , yes if you like BOTW, Soulsbourne games are like that except Link is having an emo phase and you never really see Ganon but just get a lot of NPCs telling you how fucked up he is)

They really weren't at first but really ramped it up in the last month or so. Also you have to keep in mind every time WWE changed networks it was to competing ones so they really had to hammer home the switch because the network they are leaving wouldn't. With AEW they are just going to a sister station of the one they are on so TNT itself did ads telling people to watch on TBS starting on Jan 5. AEW hasn't had to do the hard sell as much because the TV partner is doing a bit of the heavy lifting for them.

Britt already out here posting Toni Storm pics on Twitter, lol

Is the empire crumbling before our eyes?
Also she just did the usual fawning "I've never been more me than on the main roster" interview on Ryan "Totally not a WWE Shill" Satin's show so that's another layer of LOLs.

AEW Dynamite - December 29, 2021
I'm sure Thunder Rosa will work her ass off to make this match decent, I'm assuming this whole tournament is designed to build up Jade so the finals are what I'm going to be wondering about since Ruby Soho has not really been all that impressive IMO.

Is the empire crumbling before our eyes?
Also I had no faith anyone with pull in WWE would have any idea how to market her. To Vince, "modern society" is somewhere around 1998.

Is the empire crumbling before our eyes?
Apparently she asked for her release, I guess being booked to be a mewling baby in the corner after being pummeled by Almighty Charlotte didn't work for her.

Is the empire crumbling before our eyes?
Toni Storm is no longer with WWE per Fightful

AEW Dynamite - December 29, 2021
TK mentioning something about a "bittersweet" announcement on the show. Hopefully it's just a goodbye to TNT, but considering they are just moving to a sister station in the same family it would be odd to call that bittersweet.

AEW Rampage - Holiday Bash - December 25, 2021
It really is understated how much of Dusty's vibe (in JCP at least, not the polka dot stuff) was "blue collar guy who came into money and started wearing stuff like big ass fur coats with cowboy hats"

Alright, New Year's Evil just got bumped up to must watch with WALTER in the house.

WWE TV 12/27-1/2 Wherein Vince actively is trying to kill his top star
Grayson Waller kicking off his promo mentioning how he was able to wake up on Christmas (which was Saturday) and buy front row tickets for Raw that Monday was a world class self own that I'm surprised no one caught it. He is a tremendous douchebag heel though, he def. has that part of the business down already. If he ends up being even halfway decent in the ring he could be a star (somewhere other than WWE who will of course botch this horribly).

AEW Rampage - Holiday Bash - December 25, 2021
Also Rampage did a good rating despite being on a different day and time, so that's a good sign.

AEW Rampage - Holiday Bash - December 25, 2021
What I've been noticing about Cody is he clearly wants to be the all American babyface like his dad, his actual personality is much better suited to being 80s Ric Flair. Also they seem to be rolling with it now, but AEW was 100% trying to fight the fans with this stuff which made it stick out even more in a company who's MO has been "we give the fans what they want".
-
AEW Rampage - Holiday Bash - December 25, 2021
Part of me thinks Cody got so defensive about that promo because it's the one time he kind of let his latent MAGA tendencies slip through to TV and he was legit offended at the backlash.

WWE TV 12/27-1/2 Wherein Vince actively is trying to kill his top star
I love how WWE is just going to rewrite the blood bath to motor oil or chocolate or whatever that goop Edge does now.
