AEW Dynamite - August 18, 2021
Funny thing is he honed his skills in Impact so it's like an indirect gift from the Forbidden Door.

Somewhere Vince is like "goddamnit pal, this Khan kid can't book! you're supposed to embarrass people in their hometown!"

Texans tend to consider them selves Texan above all else, they really only make a distinction if both guys are from Texas then you go by city.

Also I'm all for Sting embracing the "late stage crazy old man Terry Funk" portion of his career.

Probably to give 2.0 some heat since obviously no one thinks they have a chance against Sting and Darby, which is fine. Especially if it leads to Mox/Eddie murdering 2.0 next week,

I love that a photo people thought was Ric Flair eating ass on a train went viral and I love even more that Ric's response was to say they photo isn't him because Ric Flair doesn't travel by train. Because of course that would be the thing he finds objectionable about that lol.

Technically his WWE theme is public domain classical music so he *could* use that, but I agree Final Countdown or bust. Also I wonder with all the Last Dance references for Punk if he'll come out to Sirius on Friday.

I believe the plan was to bring Bryan in for the stadium show in NYC.

WWE TV 08/16 - 08/22 avoiding political topics much like [REDACTED] avoided responsibility
Joe kills Kross to win the NXT title, and when Vince finally decides to mercy-kill NXT UK they can have a title unification match where they just slap the shit out of each other for 20 minutes, BOOK IT, PAUL!

At some point we need WALTER vs Joe for the unified Mean Guy World Championship.

I've only seen him go after people on Twitter who go at him first and/or try to post lies about shit he never reported. May not be the most professional thing to do, but I'm all for smacking idiots in the face who make shit up to try to discredit people.

Kross vs Joe has been built up great on NXT, but it's been pretty much ruined by Kross jobbing like a j-brone on Raw. Cameron Grimes' fiery babyface promo pretty much sold me on his match by itself here. Poor guy is so painfully in the wrong company though, dude is an endless ball of energy and charisma, pretty much the best babyface in the company, and dude has no real shot beyond where he's at in this company because he's not 6'5/260/jacked.

Watching NXT now, and it looked like Dragunov got busted open just by....his head hitting Roddy's shoulder on a German suplex? Weirdest accidental cut I can recall seeing.

For me SRS is usually above that kind of Fox News-ass "people are saying *insert thing no one is actually saying*" stuff so while it's obviously low stakes in this case it does kind of make me look sideways at him.

It's his gimmick that he's a superior wrestler, but yeah I never considered him to be the greatest in the world.

AEW Dark Megathread
It did rule. Was kinda short but it was for Dark so I wasn't expecting a 45 minute NJPW main event, but what was there was excellent.

He's a top coach in NXT, which is on Vince's shit list right now.

So when they mentioned show was in San Antonio for a second I was like "odd, they usually bring HBK in for shows here, wonder why they didn't...." before it dawned on me why that wouldn't be happening this time.

I love how Randy Orton comes out to be mean to Riddle and say he doesn't want to team with him while wearing his RKBro hoodie.

Rampage drew 740,000 viewers, which seems pretty good for 10pm on a Friday night.

Deathmatch Wrestling: How much is Too Much?
Funny thing is stuff like light tubes and barbed wire are relatively safe if done right. If you look at all the barbed wire matches from the 80s and 90s most of them just have the guys wrapping it around their hands/arms and usually there's just the normal forehead bleeding and sometimes like Dusty some bleeding on the upper arm to sell how sharp the barbs are. I'm sure the million tiny puncture wounds are no fun, but relatively speaking there's not usually any real major damage. Sabu slicing his arm was one of those Nick Gage "shit happens" moments that was compounded by Sabu being a crazy fuck who glued his arm shut and kept going. I also don't get why people get so personal in their dislike of Nick Gage either. It's fine if you don't like his style, but to think he's a moron just seems aggressively personal by all accounts. Dude obviously made mistakes in life and paid the price, and also by all accounts has turned his life around as well as one could expect since then. There's tons of stories on social media of people meeting Nick and saying he was a positive and inspirational guy. If you make a self-deprecating joke in his presence he's known for telling you to knock that shit off because you're a good person with value. He's clearly still rough around the edges as a person but the dude's put in work and it bugs me when I see people just dismiss him as the druggie who robbed a bank as if he hasn't done anything since then to try to make amends.

Dave Meltzer stuff
Andrade was salty that he said before the match it was going to be a "Five Star" match and then Dave pointed out (correctly IMO) that Kenny was out there trying to have a great match and he (Andrade) was just trying to have a good one. Comes off as he expected to get the free pass Ric and Charlotte get from Dave and was mad when that didn't happen. Also it's not like Dave has been the only one out there saying Andrade has been underwhelming post WWE....seems like that's been the consensus across the board.

Also LA Park is legit one of the best brawlers in the world and is very good at making things look like chaos while at the same time making sure no one gets (seriously) hurt.
