WWE TV 07/12 - 07/18 FOOTBALL IS COMING ROME
Saw someone mention Alexa Bliss's gimmick makes sense if you think of it as an adult version of Angelica from Rugrats and I couldn't stop laughing. Also Eva going all "where's Lexi?" after she disappeared cracked me up. The great thing about Eva is that her calling someone by their shoot name could both be an actual brainfart on her part or be exactly the thing her character would do.

Ring of Honor Wrestling
Best in the World was a pretty good show. Crowd was kinda sparse but I think part of that was due to COVID restrictions. Still was miles better than an empty arena show for sure. Dragon Lee winning the TV belt back seemed like a reset since I don't think he was supposed to ever lose the title to begin with (he had surgery on his eardrum and couldn't travel), but I loved seeing Bandito get the world title. The post match stuff seemed a little...no pun intended...rushed, but that was probably the cost of doing business to get Rush to do a clean job.

Is the empire crumbling before our eyes?
One of the interesting parts of getting older is seeing this happen multiple times in my lifetime. I've already seen the D&D Satanic Panic, obscene lyrics in music panic. violent video games panic, terrorist hiding in every bush panic (at least that one had some basis in reality with 9/11 happening), and now its anti mask/vax panic spilling over into nonsense like qanon. It's like there's a section of the population that has to be in constant fear of......something...... at all times.

AEW Dynamite - July 7th, 2021 - On The Road Again
I used to be into comics, but it got so hard to follow the storylines. Between yearly reboots and having to buy a million different books to get the entire story, it's like comics are stuck in a Groundhog Day loop.

Honestly, he seems like any other person who went so deep into his hobby he sees anything that challenges what he's comfortable with as a personal attack. I see it all the time in the gaming world, and comics might be the worst when it comes to that. People completely tie their identity into their hobby/obsession and they end up losing themselves.

WWE TV 7/5 - 7/11 I guess no one watched Raw last night
I would imagine they will need to be calling up some NXT women to fill the ranks. I suppose Becky is returning soon, but they are embarrassingly thin on the main roster right now.

He's built up his brand by saying AEW is damaging to wrestling while making derogatory statements toward the people involved. I'm not saying Jim specifically sat down and decided to invoke violence, but he should have considered the effect the shit he says has on people who are fervent believers, let alone someone who might be mentally ill. Reminds me a lot of a certain other person who says shit to rile up his followers then is seemingly surprised when they in fact get riled up.

I saw it mentioned they should put Bayley on commentary so she and Pat can just troll Michael Cole for two hours, and I don't hate that idea. Unfortunately WWE likes to make injured people vanish off the face of the earth so they can have a surprise return.

They were doing mandatory training to get ready to go back on the road, and it was apparently a freak injury during a chain wrestling segment. As silly as the methods at the PC are, this looks like it was just a "shit happens" situation.

Yeah the thing is this is pretty much the end game for Jim's carny bullshit. All it takes is one unstable person to take it to heart not realizing he's "working" and take matters into his own hands.

Yeah he meant being offered a full time job in that time between WCW closing and when his health started going downhill. I remember him commenting in an interview how Vince would seemingly race to hire people who talked shit about him but a guy like him that never said anything bad never got the call.

AEW Dynamite - July 7th, 2021 - On The Road Again
The fact she's back in the company and he's in AEW only further underlines that Vince prefers when people stand up to him as opposed to butt kissers. Reminds me of how Bobby Heenan was so hurt that he never said anything bad about them when he was in WCW (or after) and he was like the only one never asked to come back.

On top of everything else, the name is bad because it sounds like some TNA shit where they'd try to use something based off of a guy's gimmick WWE name. Be Tommy End or something that doesn't reference his WWE name at all. I did like he's still selling the eye though. Very kayfabulous of him.

A big part of ECW's following was based on saying WCW sucks in the first half (with the Hollywood Austin and Cactus Jack's "Hire Me Eric" shirt) and the second half based on saying WWF sucks (RVD's Mr. Monday Night gimmick, Jerry Lawler showing up and cutting the same type of promo Dan Lambert did). The WWF stuff especially was based around the pro WWF contingent cutting promos saying ECW was trash.

AEW Dynamite - July 7th, 2021 - On The Road Again
Also loved that Dan Lambert was basically every old timey wrestler who thinks the business went to shit the moment they were no longer relevant. His promo was a Jim Cornette rant without the fear of him veering into something potentially racist or sexist.

Nick Jackson out there with the Dancin' Stevie Richards booty shorts had me rolling.

Comments that don't warrant a thread - Part 4
Seems like perhaps he switched his "vitamins" at some point, since he went from bloated looking to leaner but still jacked at some point in the late 80s.

The crowd singing Jericho's theme has not only become an AEW staple, but it's one of those things that makes wrestling seem cool again, which is neat.

I dig both teams color coordinating in this six man match.

Hangman overcoming his insecurities with the help of the scrappy ragtag bunch of scamps who lost their leader is a great pro wrestling story.

Sean Ross Sapp is stating a lot of AEW talent seems to be under the impression Tommy End is going to be joining the company soon, maybe as soon as tonight.

England is that dude you went to school with who once scored the winning TD in the championship game and still goes on about it decades later because they haven't done anything else in their life since.

Show looks stacked indeed. I wish they wouldn't keep blueballing everyone and do a straight up FTR vs Santana/Ortiz match, but I suppose that's being saved for PPV. I really hope they pull the trigger with Penta/Kingston too. Eddie winning a title will blow the roof off the building.
