  1. I love it.... "Maybe Mox can be an EVP!" "I don't want it...no"
  2. Loving Paul Wight's homage to Red Shoes.
  3. lol Cody in front of a crowd with this gimmick is gonna be interesting.
  4. Darby first guy out in front of a real crowd is a smart move.
  5. Touche, but to be fair that was because Vince Jr quit the NWA which New Japan was a part of.
  6. I mean, WWF and New Japan did work together back in the day, and while it was a million years ago the same guy's still in charge (I know VKM wasn't technically in charge yet but I believe he was functionally running things toward the end of Vince Sr's life).
  7. Have to give Jim credit when it's due, he pretty much nailed it on the Dark Side episode re: Warrior. He couldn't work or talk but he had a body that looked like a million bucks and had the greatest promoter ever pushing him and that was pretty much all there was to it.
  8. It actually does seem the talks started in part to give Bryan the opportunity to work in New Japan without leaving WWE.
  9. I can imagine the Young Lions seeing how training is done at the PC and enraging WWE by laughing at it. Or even better WWE trying to pull a power play and demand NJPW use the PC for trainees only to have Shibata show up and slap the shit out of everyone in the building.
  10. Drew having some fun with this by posting a tweet seemingly about his match with Kofi but with OKADA as an acrostic. Also even if this relationship ever would happen (I assume it was just Big Daddy Nick kicking tires), it wouldn't last long since Vince is eventually gonna Vince and a Japanese company isn't going to let a foreign company call the shots for too long, business culture over there doesn't work that way.
  11. Yeah they own all the buildings they run in, so they have practically zero costs. Plus they have deals where hotels run tourist groups for their Friday night Arena Mexico shows so they will get decent crowds no matter how shit the cards are.
  12. So yeah, having watched the episode it's clear Dana was trying to preemptively smear the show by saying it was "smut and filth" because they showed the clip of Warrior saying she was the one who influenced his conservative beliefs. It was a pretty fair look at the good and the bad, and made it clear that he had some abhorrent beliefs but didn't try to make him a cartoon villain.
  13. His daughter was trying to modernize the company and not be such grudge holding assholes, but the rest of the family got pissed and ran her off so they could put people in charge even more stuck in their ways and petty than Paco was. Vince at least would be willing to put personal beef aside if it would do business, Paco would blacklist guys who would do business forever and never give it a second thought.
  14. The mask design is probably owned by CMLL who are light years beyond Vince on the vindictive and petty scale.
  15. Yeah they can't keep him from using his actual name, but for him to be able to leave without a 90 day non compete tells me he had something on the company he could have fucked them over with and they let him go on his terms.
  16. It just occurred to me that Gus Johnson would be the perfect fit for WWE if they wanted someone with legit cred. He's basically an WWE announcer calling real sports as it is. I suppose maybe they would think it'd be too on the nose to hire him, but that would assume they had any level of self awareness that hasn't been proven to exist.
  17. Hogan's character was always an unlikable dick to his friends. I started watching the WWF in late 86 during the build to WM3 and felt Andre was completely justified in what he did since Hulk upstaged him the week before when he was finally getting some recognition. All Andre wanted was a title shot and Hulk acted like he killed his parents.
  18. As one does. Clearly it's every legit broadcaster's dream to be able to call Drew Gulak getting a rose shoved up his ass.
  19. Walter is one of my current favorites because he works exactly like a guy his size looks like he should work. Dude can build a whole match around the threat of caving a guy's chest in with a simple chop and can have the crowd completely buying in.
  20. It's apparently a Nick Khan mandate, since he was the one behind hiring Adnan and now this. If I had to guess I'd wager he's trying to make WWE seem more mainstream/legit by bringing in these guys.
  21. Adnan was fired from ESPN for leaking info, so I was surprised he would be signed to WWE since Vince is so paranoid. Pretty sure announcers are actual employees, I can't imagine they would be able to get any legit broadcaster on a WWE style "we'll fuck you every way we can" independent contractor deal.
  22. WWE tends to only offer big money when they want to sign someone out of spite or to keep them away from another company.
  23. Yeah, Nick Khan's new strategy of trying to make legit sportscasters fit in Vince's wacky world of being yelled at in your headset until your brain and self confidence are mush is going to be hilarious to watch.
  24. Its still pretty funny (as in completely frustrating) that the rest of the world still has more content than what NBCUniversal paid a billion dollars for.
  25. So I wonder if the recent cuts/consolidation of the WWE digital team means we're not getting the rest of the content that was on the Network get moved to Peacock after all.
