A large part of how ECW got built as the cool alternative was Paul E, either directly or through proxies, cutting promos on TV about how WCW and WWF were all a bunch of pussies and I expect this is what Tony is going for since he was an ECW mark.

Wrestling companies taking shots at each other is a tale as old as time and it's part of the fun IMO.

They actually did a good job of making it make sense for them to show the footage in the context of their match vs FTR. They had to deal with their buddy being a dipshit during their biggest show ever and it makes sense they'd be distracted in storyline because of it. Plus it set up FTR cutting a fire promo in response that put over their match as an even bigger deal and surely had some real feelings attached to it as well to really add some flavor. I still don't think they HAD to do this, but this was the best possible way they could have done it.

Did not expect to see Edge go full lucha either.

It's not Bryan's Final Fiesta of Dream Matches, but Edge vs Penta is sure not something I'd ever expect to see happen.

So Bron cut a promo after the show stating he's done with NXT at this point so dropping the tag titles tonight was his blowoff for now. Here's hoping he cuts a promo where he says he's going to start using the Steiner name again. I actually am a fan of the AOP, unfortunately they are stuck with the heatless and useless Kross for the foreseeable future.

Neither show felt like it dragged at any point but night 2 absolutely ZOOMED by. Also Snoop should be hired to announce every sport ever. He did a guest spot for the LA Kings calling hockey and NBC is sending him to Paris to do stuff for the Olympics.

It occurred to me watching his speech that if pro wrestling manifested itself into a human being, it would be Paul Heyman. Creative, entertaining, a little sleazy, and passionate as hell. When he put the coat and hat on, that wasn't Special Counsel (My Name Is) Paul Heyman, that was fuckin' Paul E cutting a promo behind a shitty bingo hall in 1994 making you remember why you love this shit in the first place.
