RIP Ole Anderson
RIP you wonderfully miserable bastard. The original Horsemen run was one of those "yeah, this shit's for me" moments that first got me hooked on pro wrestling.

AEW TV - February 21 - 24, 2024
I think Bryan getting to cross off his entire bucket list while on his last year victory lap is the most amazing thing I've seen in pro wrestling.

Hey, part of the gig replacing all these Dads is taking care of mom, ya know?

Damn, Sting with the fire promo almost makes up for the lame follow up on the beatdown angle. Also when he was talking about his father passing away part of me expected Christian to cut in all "so you need a new dad?"

I get folks not wanting to see him be involved anymore, but Solemn Ric Flair talking to the Evil Bucks was at least an interesting wrinkle on the story.

WWE TV 02/19 - 02/25 Faz o L
Also since the world needs something wholesome, here's a video from Asuka's Youtube channel where she surprises the owner (?) of a pro wrestling themed bar who happened to be wearing one of her shirts:

So it was confirmed Shotzi tore her ACL in her match from tonight's NXT. All she did was jump from the apron to the floor and it gave out, reminded me of Sting's knee exploding just from him taking the last step off the cage back in the day. There seems to be a rash of ACL injuries down there like there was tons of shoulder injuries back in the day. Seems like there might need to be an adjustment in how they train down there.

Is the empire crumbling before our eyes?
It helps that what he did back then wouldn't even crack the top ten most objectionable things that happened in the Attitude Era.

If you were in Herb Abrams position.
Every commercial break on ECW TV had a promotion for the next big show at the ECW arena, so they very much were building for the next house show. They definitely were pioneering the idea of not having a show full of squashes for sure.

Nice to see Raquel able to come back from that strange illness she had.

Is the empire crumbling before our eyes?
Especially if you consider how much sexual abuse that has been found to been covered up inside the military. It probably didn't take too much convincing from WWE to keep this under wraps. That whole situation was the perfect storm to make sure a story like this never got out.

Thunder Rosa was front row at the CMLL show yesterday, and they seem to be building to an angle where she has a match with Stephanie Vaquer, the CMLL women's champion.

WWE TV - 2/12 - 2/15 - Shanahan Not The Wiseman We Thought He Was
Tiffy killed poor Zelina with that moonsault, landed right on her chest with her knees. Even the ref had that "oh shit" look on her face.

WWE TV - 2/12 - 2/15 - Shanahan Not The Wiseman We Thought He Was
I always thought he was fine in the ring, the turn off for me was his heel gimmick was full of such unearned smugness it became go-away heat. Dude was beat by everyone but the beer vendor and would talk shit on social media like he was Roman Reigns. It worked much better when he first showed up to NXT this go around and was bullying the noobs before he fell into the team wth Bron.

Bryan getting to live his dream of working a match with Blue Panther in Arena Mexico is the wholesome story of the year.

Once again Dynamite is coming in hot with Mox-Dax starting things off.

Its funny how he left because he wanted to wrestle more, but hasn't done much if anything since dropping the AAA Latin American title a few months back.

NXT was a good show with a fun main event. Who could have ever expected Baron Corbin would be beloved by the NXT crowd to the point they went nuts for him winning a title.

Current New Japan
TK coming off much nicer than Vince goes a long way to explain why he doesn't get the reaction to the things AEW does that other promotions would. Every wrestling promoter (or at least the ones worth a damn) looks after themselves first, but there's something to be said for not acting cartoonishly evil at every opportunity that makes people give him the benefit of the doubt.
-
Current New Japan
I would suppose the difference is WWE was quite open about their goal being to squash every other company in the world and TK is always talking about pro wrestling being one big happy family. As stated, NJ's problems have been due to their inability to trust the younger generation, if they had been pushing those guys properly it could have softened the blow of losing White/Ospreay/Okada a little. It's not TK's fault that Gedo has been booking on a treadmill for years now. CMLL will be fine as well, the Lutteroth family owns all the buildings they run and the promotion basically runs itself and the only thing that would cause trouble is if the family suddenly decided they didn't want to run a wrestling company anymore.

Current New Japan
I don't know about him having an ego (although I'd argue he'd be justified in having one considering what he's done for the company), it's sort of become a custom for a top guy leaving New Japan to be part of an angle putting over the folks positioned to take their place.
