The Cancellation of Jim Cornette
Normally I'd agree that the timing would be suspicious, but Seth is notoriously thinned skinned and Jim is Jim so this was a clash that was surely going to happen at some point.

Is Charlotte Flair the most overpushed WWE wrestler of the century?
True, but she's towering over the rest of the roster and making them look like inferior children on TV, and that's before they have the match and end up losing to her. It's on the company that is constantly aware that they are in a visual business to address that. They have Alexa wearing platform type boots/shoes constantly so she doesn't look quite as smurflike so they clearly know it's something that can be done. It comes off as the company purposely making her literally stand head and shoulders above the rest of the roster.

She's proven to be completely unlikable as a babyface, like a female Randy Orton, and Ronda would have to murder puppies in the middle of the ring to be a heel in that feud.

Comments that don't warrant a thread - Part 4
Plus it seems like everyone who ever met him has tons of cool stories about what an awesome guy he was, seemed like one of the rare folks in the biz no one had a bad word to say about.

Dark Side of the Ring
It would make sense that Bret would probably have knowledge that she didn't, and vice versa. There's always some things only a sibling would know and some things only a spouse would. I could see how some of the family, being that wrestling is the only thing most of them know, were concerned Martha might possibly fuck up their careers (especially considering how vindictive Vince can be) with the lawsuit. At the same time, I don't see how they seemingly couldn't understand why his widow might not give a shit about their career options if she felt WWF was responsible for killing her husband. I get how these situations can be. My wife's uncle was in a serious accident (got t-boned by an 18 wheeler) and was never the same, eventually passing away. His wife stopped talking to the family at that point and some folks got really upset about that. It was kind of abrupt, and she didn't blame anyone in the family about it, but I understood that losing a spouse way before you expected kind of fucks you up. People handle it in different ways and sometimes other people aren't going to understand it. I hope that Martha and Bret can mend fences though. It always seemed like they got along before hand, probably since Bret clearly had a soft spot for his baby bro. I would hope as well that with all the health issues Bret has dealt with he's in the frame of mind where you can go "fuck the petty bullshit" and reconnect. However I do fear that Bret is on good terms again with WWE there might be pressure on him to come out against what she's saying, especially after Jerry McDevitt's awful attempt at a preemptive strike went about as well as the Hindenburg.

Is Charlotte Flair the most overpushed WWE wrestler of the century?
All the talent in the world won't matter when you're the focus on three separate (until this week) shows. She absolutely should be at the top level based on her ability, but after a while it becomes a self fulfilling prophecy that none of her peers can match up when they all get groomed to lose to her. Just because she gives her opponents more before beating them doesn't mean it won't have the same effect of Hunter's Reign of Terror in hampering the company from creating new stars.

What I don't get is why do they do things like always have her come out in the tallest heeled shoes they can possibly find when she towers over most of the roster already. Any time she does a promo with anyone else nearby she looks like a kindergarten teacher towering over the class.

The Cancellation of Jim Cornette
Jim spending all his time getting worked up over modern wrestling is very similar to Dave spending too much time giving attention to trolls on Twitter. Both say it's good for business but you have to wonder at what cost? We're going to have a whole generation of people who only see Cornette as "guy who hates AEW and is prone to saying problematic stuff" and Dave as "guy who can't help but try to correct everyone with an egg icon obviously having a go at him" instead of both being absurdly vast resources of wrestling history.

AEW Dynamite - May 20 2020
Loved the last segment, Kenny should have told them to "make it good" before they hit him with the bat.

AEW Dynamite - May 20 2020
To be fair, you'd see the same thing happen in every Lucha show for the last 20+ years.

Loved Mox saying he wasn't going to chase Brodie around backstage like a GEEK. It's great seeing actual intelligent babyfaces in US pro wrestling.

Dark Side of the Ring
She mentions WWF told all the newspapers at the time that they paid for Owen's funeral, and she stated they never did. So that's something.

Dark Side of the Ring
They could do an entire season of Dark Side just on Vince: Ep 1: Killing all the Territories Ep 2: Steroid Trial Ep 3: Dealing with Saudi Arabia Ep 4: XFL (both Versions 1 and 2) Ep 5: The Legal Episode (covering up murders, bribing local officials, sexual harassment cases, independent contractor law) Ep 6: Weird Family Relations (wanting to do incest angles with Steph, booking himself to make out with Trish in front of zombie Linda, driving Shane into becoming a glorified stuntman to get his father's attention, etc) Ep 7: The Rasslin' Promoter who Hates Rasslin (all about Vince's verbal quirks and how he doesn't like being seen as a wrestling promoter) Ep 8: Destroying the Future (his attempts to kill any other promotions/markets with special focus on how NXT UK squashed an up and coming UK scene) Book it, Vice.

Dark Side of the Ring
He said something along the lines of it was Oje's "birthright" to see Owen inducted in the HOF, which even if there wasn't the whole matter of him being killed by negligence, is a pretty "encased in a bubble made of steel" thing to believe.

Dark Side of the Ring
That, and a hope that it ends once and for all the weird habit some fans have thinking they have the right to speak on his kids' behalf on what "should" be done to honor his career.

Is Charlotte Flair the most overpushed WWE wrestler of the century?
They've burned through so many title runs with her she's a weird Schrodinger's Cat of being both under and over pushed at the same time. They're clearly trying to have her match daddy but at the same time having 75% of her title runs fail in the first defense she's almost like the female version of the one week NWA champion.

WWE TV 05/18 - 05/24 The Last Dance was fucking incredible
Yeah, Rodman was a weird dude to say the least but he was also probably the best rebounder in the history of basketball so MJ was fine with letting dude get as weird as he wanted to as long as he kept grabbing the boards.

Dark Side of the Ring
Looks like Jerry McDevitt is proactively going around shitting on Martha Hart, saying she didn't really care about finding out what happened when Owen died and just was out to hurt WWE. Which is an interesting tactic to say the least. He at least managed to do the impossible and unite Wrestling Twitter as one to point out how disgusting that is. I have a feeling this episode is going to be especially sad, not just for the death of Owen itself, but how the Hart Family cut all ties with Martha and the kids over her wanting WWF/E held responsible for it. She mentions in a CBS Sports interview that some family members were actively trying to derail her case by sharing defense documents with WWE, and seemingly more upset she was trying to hold the company responsible than Owen dying on their watch.

WWE TV 05/18 - 05/24 The Last Dance was fucking incredible
I'd like to think it was because MJ respected how little fucks Rodman gave, both in general and specifically how he was probably the only guy in the locker room not in awe of playing with him.

MVP giving me Gary Hart vibes as the scummy heel manager type we haven't really seen in WWE for a long time.

WWE TV 05/18 - 05/24 The Last Dance was fucking incredible
Yeah, those skits were something. Not sure what is more irritating at this point, every women's division focusing on Charlotte or Corbin continuing to be wedged into a main event slot no matter how many times that square peg doesn't fit in that particular round hold.

It's amazing how two people who barely speak English like the Kabuki Warriors are the best promos on this show by a fair length.
