  1. IIRC the fans/magazines/etc got smart to the trend of lucha guys trying to get a double payday losing a mask in the US and Mexico, so Juvy just decided to go maskless.
  2. She wasn't the first one to make those allegations, it was supposedly one of those things that was an open secret but no one said anything because...reasons. Possibly because Sullivan had booking power in a lot of places and no one wanted to potentially derail their careers over someone's wife getting knocked around.
  3. Just finished watching, and god damn. That was like an hour of being emotionally punted in the groin over and over. I couldn't help but be struck by the similarities with Benoit and the Von Erich boys, where they never had a chance to properly grieve and it marked a clear path of decline. Hindsight is 20/20 and all that, but someone so reserved suddenly becoming an emotional mess should have raised more red flags but the theme of this story has always been no one could believe any of this would ever have happened. Watching Chris break down completely on the Eddie memorial show was rough at the time and it's only about a million times more so now. As was hearing David say him and Daniel wanted to be tag team champions one day. It's almost kind of heartwarming to see David still be able to talk about how his dad was his hero as a kid, but that only drives home how absolutely insane it was when everything happened. Hearing Jericho relate a story similar to one Dave Meltzer has told before about Benoit hugging him at Eddie's funeral almost in desperation while crying deep heaving sobs was eerie as well. In all of it though, the roughest part was finding out from Chavo that Eddie died in his arms. I've only ever heard that Chavo found him in the bathroom, but to hear that he actually listened to his uncle expire.....Jesus Christ.
  4. He also doesn't understand how how his own contract works, he told someone else on Twitter he isn't getting paid now since he's not working and that would only be the case if he already made more than his downside guarantee (about 1.2 million). Dude just signed one of those "we're afraid of AEW" deals last summer, no way he's out there rationing out ramen noodles until shows start up again.
  5. Indy promotions starting back up next week in Japan gives some hope that there's light at the end of the tunnel, but their government was way more on top of things than ours so maybe not.
  6. The Observer said Marko was ill, but didn't specify with what. Sounds like he probably has a cold or something minor and didn't want to risk exposure.
  7. Both AEW and WWE are owned by billionaires with connections, I would suspect it wouldn't be much effort for them to get tests if they really wanted to. But as stated, rasslin' is rasslin', so if you assume the worst you're probably not going to be disappointed most times.
  8. With Big E dressing like an Uncle at the BBQ, Bryan and Drew sharing training videos*, and Kurt breaking out the gee-tar again, Corona's done the impossible and made Wrestling Twitter wholesome. *Bonus points for them referencing Bryan's wardrobe malfunction in their match. I popped for Bryan failing Drew's headlock test (squeezing a rubber ball) and complaining he squeezed so hard his ball popped out.
  9. Sammy keeping the Judas sing-along streak going was money.

Two days of Mania with no crowd? WWE can GTFO with that nonsense.
  11. Loved the Brodie Lee reveal, but that gear made him look like Diesel Jr.
  12. Having even a handful of folks in the seats reacting is at least a little less weird than a completely empty crowd.

IIRC one of the AWA videos on the network has a hilariously green-screened audience.

Not to mention Raw opened with the 3 announcers shoulder-to-shoulder in the ring, almost seemed like an implied "fuck you" to all the talk about social distancing.
  15. Knowing that Vince will be paying those two seven figures to wrestle in front of empty chairs at the PC will make it all worthwhile. It will be interesting for them to explain to shareholders that they couldn't just delay it a couple of months.
  16. I suppose doing this way was the best possible way to punish all the indy groups who had the gall to run on WM weekend, since they're all on the hook for losses considering the city didn't shut Mania down.
  17. Wow, that's going to be weird for sure. I suppose Tampa couldn't guarantee that the stadium would be available for any dates in the future (the NFL will start back up at some point and the Buccaneers would have priority), but yeah this seems like the oddest choice possible.
  18. In the last week, my company has gone from "we're monitoring the situation", to "we're sending home everyone not an outside tech, in store rep, and call center worker (which is what my job is)", to "we're probably going to send as many call center people home as possible, but we'll pay you more if you're willing to still come in to the office". I'm lucky to have as much time in with the company as I do so that I have tons of vacation time available to be able to stay at home and not lose pay. Hopefully they make the call soon that I can work from home so I don't have to spend it all, but it's heartbreaking to think of the folks who don't have that luxury.4 Until shit gets settled, lets all just try to enjoy our new era of weird no audience rasslin.
  19. Wrestlemania is 100% not happening as scheduled, Vince just is waiting for Tampa to make the call so he doesn't have to lose any money. I'd assume the talent was told already and that's why no one's been making any statements about working the show.
  20. I certainly hope so, but the 1918 Spanish Flu went down in the summer and came back with a vengeance in the fall/winter. I would hope this time around medical science will have a cure or vaccine by then. There's doctors in Canada and here at the University of Pittsburgh that reportedly have made strides in coming up with something, so fingers crossed.
  21. A lot of wrestlers live in Florida for tax purposes, so they could probably still do shows in the PC for the foreseeable future.
  22. So Dave mentioned on the show him and Garrett did (which is a must listen since they had a doctor on talking about actual disease info), that if we get to the point where there's nothing much to talk about with all the wrestling companies shutting down he'd focus on more historical stories in the Observer.
  23. Having more build for Mania matches might turn out to be a good thing since it won't be the usual 3 week WWE rush job.
  24. This show feels like we're sitting with Hunter in his office watching the live feed of the PC.
  25. Pretty much all the folks promoting indy shows on Mania weekend have come out saying if they make the choice to cancel on their own it will be instant financial ruin, making it sound like there's some kind of safety net in place if it's mandated by a government agency.
