  1. At this point Wellness failures seem limited to NXT and midcard guys unless someone gets Jeff Hardy levels of messed up and they have to address it.
  2. I think Rey has the magic "no wellness tests despite having my career revitalized by senzu beans from dragon ball" card, since the whole reason they brought him back was to keep him from other companies. I don't see them risking him telling them to fuck off and leave over a test failure.
  3. LOL @ Becky with the IRL "deal with it" glasses.
  4. This match seems kinda...spicy. They both seem to be laying it in pretty stiff.
  5. Pretty telling they kicked this off on Raw and not NXT, guess they're waving the white flag on beating AEW?
  6. I'm happy Andrade's wellness adventures won't deprive us of Zelina Vega.
  7. He always reminded me of Arn Anderson in the sense if you just assumed the dude was born looking old.
  8. If they can make it to Mania without doing something stupid (admittedly a big if), they'll have something big when Drew beats Brock.
  9. I'm of the opinion Brady might see this as the proper time to retire since A: he has nothing else to prove at this point and B: there's a clear shift happening where the new era of QBs (Mahomes, Jackson, maybe even Jimmy G too) is making their presence known. Mahomes seems to have that special "I'm going to win the game right now and you can't do a damn thing about it" aura that the greats have, and I doubt Brady wants to spend his twilight years getting schooled by the youngin's.
  10. I doubt Shane will get an executive position. He very well might end up doing a backstage type gig laying out matches like he did for the Rumble but I don't see someone as legendarily insecure as Hunter allowing Shane to get any real power back.
  11. They do that here in Pittsburgh too, Stage AE is a small concert venue located between the two stadiums here and it's not ideal for wrestling. I suppose it's the best place for the size they can run in around here. I'm thinking I might go to the second night where they crown the new champion since it will be here. FWIW I went to the website for the venue and found ticket info there rather than on the ROH site. They won't be on sale until 2/7 so maybe it will be on the ROH site then.
  12. If it was WWE, I would totally expect that, but at this point AEW has built up enough goodwill to not automatically expect the worst possible option as the most likely one.
  13. You would think with Sinclair apparently willing to open the checkbook a little more freely now they wouldn't need to run those scams anymore, but I supposes carnies gotta carny. Also they announced the Pure title is coming back. So that's something. Not sure how well that's going to work with the whole "Pure wrestling rules" not nearly as unique as it was before but they're trying.
  14. To be fair, it was pretty sloppy of Braun to be giving guys shoot knees to the face. I get the feeling if it was anyone other than Brock on the receiving end he would have got the Brie Bella treatment over it from the online fans. Braun also absolutely got kneecapped by never getting the big win when he was really hot (either as a heel or face), since they were always building up someone else at the time. The fact that winning the IC belt was his first singles title illustrates how much he was squandered.
  15. Well Dolph kept re-signing when he was doing that, but as of yet the Revival haven't, so there is that difference. I'm thinking their logic is if they put the word out they still want to leave and WWE tries to humiliate them again it will just make the company look like petty assholes. It seems to be working, as I recall at one point Vince wanted to make them pure comedy characters on the way out but that went away quickly (it's also equally likely someone just jingled their keys in front of him and he forgot about it).
  16. You can always tell when Randy is invested in a program as opposed to when he isn't. Just like some guys have the "I'm about to do a job" boo-boo face, Randy tends to get the "I couldn't give any less of a shit about what's going on here" face.
  17. NXT was the biggest non-PPV draw on the network, I wouldn't be shocked if George and Michelle's difference in vision stemmed from them wondering why the platform they were championing for so long was being cannibalized in a short sighted attempt to bully a competitor.
  18. The irony of the guy doing the "old timer who hates everything new" being obsessed with Twitter will never not be funny to me.
  19. Smart move of him to do that. Hopefully he can talk Corey into deleting his social media too. At least Mauro has documented issues to explain why he is, Corey comes off as a tatted up Donald Trump Jr. with his "please pay attention to me, please love me" tweets.
  20. Oh shit, completely forgot about this. We might be close to Vince completely losing his mind and wandering naked down the streets of Stanford.
  21. Unless George shit on someone's bag, this is just a bizarre turn of events. He was so great at doing the public facing speaking events (or more accurately he was the only one who could do those in the company without coming off like an inside-the-bubble-weirdo) and the markets seemed to respond to what he was saying. I suppose this might come down to the stagnation of the Network numbers, but it seems like most of all it was "we need to scapegoat someone for these low numbers who isn't a family member".
  22. It looks like the Nightmare Collective is being killed off and the Dark Order is being kept alive because they feel whoever the Higher Power ends up being will end up making it all worth while. It seems like AEW listened to the complaints after all.
  23. For a company that insists on branding the shit out of everything they can get their hands on, it feels like a missed opportunity that their TV partner is airing Super Bowl LIV and there's been nothing done with Liv Morgan associating with that.
  24. sek69 replied to goodhelmet's topic in AEW
It seems like every week someone makes a comment like that when it's clear no one gets around to it lol. Personally I thought it was a decent little show, I liked The Hybrid 2 with their tribute skeleton gear and Jack Evans doing the La Parka dance down the ramp in tribute.
  25. Absolutely this. Orton would probably be a no-doubt all time great if he could just be bothered to give a shit 75% of the time. I suppose that's what happens when you had everything given to you at an early age, there's no desire to want to go all out and prove anything.
