  1. Matt Riddle posted a tweet saying we should all watch WWE this week because big things are set to happen. If that means they are going to put him with Brock I'd be down with that.
  2. She was posting vids of her running the ropes at the PC testing her knees out, so barring setbacks I'd expect to see her in the Rumble.
  3. It sounds impersonal, but wrestlers are like real estate. They're worth what people will pay for them. If anything, two decades of only one major player depressed wrestler value to the point that them being overvalued in 2020 could also be seen as a long overdue market correction. I believe they 100% thought Marty going to AEW was a fait accompli and it was just a matter of waiting for his last deal to end. It doesn't seem like it even occurred to them that there was any other option. Like I'm sure they figured maybe WWE would swoop in with a completely stupid money offer, but they didn't seem to consider ROH offering the keys to the kingdom. Which, to be fair, this is the promotion owned by the company that had to be dragged kicking and screaming to spend the money for proper TV production not that long ago and (despite saying they might at some point) never seeming like they were actually going to spend the money needed to compete. I also think it kind of revealed Marty wasn't as close with those guys as they let on. When Cody and the Bucks announced they were forming AEW, you knew Kenny was going to join them despite him trying to create some air of uncertainty. You knew he'd never want to go to WWE and be a cog in their machine, the only real question was would NJPW go all in on the guy they were building their US expansion around. They seemed to think Marty was the same deal, and never considered the alternative. Having said all that, I think there is a distinction between that and the time honored WWE tactic of promising or implying something they had no intention of delivering. This was just a company that despite all the successes is still a new company capable of getting caught with their pants down. Like rovert said, you live and learn.
  4. Even when they did care it was kind of embarrassing that despite single-handedly inventing feminism and women's wrestling, they couldn't find enough people to fill a Rumble without bringing back legends and/or using not-ready-for-prime-time folks from the PC as filler.
  5. I kinda dig Mojo as the 24/7 champ who actually kills the geeks who always chase the title.
  6. Glad to see Humberto come back. Also glad to see Heyman apparently shops in Vince's closet for his suits now. Pretty sure my aunt had a couch made from the same material and design as his suit tonight.
  7. I'm not a fan of Sami, but a lot of Tessa being able to be such a good babyface in their match was due to him being so completely despicable. I wonder if she would be able to garner that reaction against anyone else since her natural heel tendencies would come out.
  8. Finally getting a new content drop, Prime Time Wrestling from 1989 coming on January 20.
  9. They should go all the way old school and have it be a medal like the Mid South TV title was at the start.
  10. It really goes under the radar (even when they were the hot promotion) how many cash grab "tryouts" seem to surround ROH and ROH-adjacent folks.
  11. Maybe Tony having more control in booking will mean the Bucks and Kenny will stop being booked as midcarders now? It already seems like Kenny is becoming more of at least an upper midcard guy instead of the geek he was looking like before.
  12. I laugh every time ESPN shows the "athletes in other sports doing the Conor MacGregor strut" commercial and include Vince doing his Vince walk as if he wasn't doing that decades before Conor .
  13. Yeah he's said he wants to add a secondary title but didn't want to have it be right at the start of the company. Adding a second show and being able to potentially feature more guys seems to be a pretty good time to do it.
  14. Watching Smackdown and it's wonderfully kayfabulous that in WWE canon Mayor Glen and DEMON KANE are separate people.
  15. They would often do that when dubbing the music would be too much work/not possible due to how the show is constructed. It was pretty common on the old WWE 24/7 VOD service, it's possible it's something they overlooked when a lot of that got restored for the network.
  16. Considering Dave's probable sources in AEW, it sure seems they thought they still had a chance to land him. It also makes sense if Cody and the gang got played like that, it would have been the reason for Tony to take more of the reigns in booking after seeing his boys get clowned.
  17. I guess Marty must have the magic touch, since they are getting a ton of New Japan guys to appear on Supercard of Honor this year. Between that and having Rush create an Ingobernales faction in ROH, they're already more interesting in 2020 than they were all of last year.
  18. Yeah the point wasn't that what he said was horribly offensive, it was just a thoughtlessly dumb thing for a company executive to say in a public setting. It's one of those things that will probably cause the stock price to crater if/when something happens to Vince because this is the guy being groomed to take over.
  19. So the new Observer mentions Marty Scurll was the first choice to be the leader of the Dark Order and the main event beatdown that everyone hated was supposed to be capped off with his reveal. Then ROH decided to break open their piggy bank and all that went down the tubes.
  20. It seems like they just decided to take Charlie Sheen's life and make it a wrestling gimmick, substituting cocaine use for weed.
  21. The funny part is thinking the new era of wrestling is nothing but fake looking flippy shit is a tale as old as time. Lou Thesz said the same thing about Harley Race as people say now about Kenny Omega. Only difference is now we're the grumpy old men.
  22. Considering what he's doing on his Youtube channel and the timing of his contract ending, it seems like it's lining up to possibly be Matt Hardy.
  23. The great thing about DDP is he always had an older looking face so now that he is old he doesn't look that much different than he did in his WCW days. I know Dave can't say anything positive without the "OMG PAID BY AEW" dummies piling on, but he's spot on about it really is nice to see AEW not doing the WWE route of bringing in legends just to humiliate them.
  24. So apparently a segment with RVD and his girlfriends had some nip slips and got Impact's Twitch channel banned for violating TOS.
