  1. Does Bully Ray still have any influence or is he just Executive VP of Threatening Fans at Ringside?
  2. sek69 replied to sek69's topic in Pro Wrestling
I'm sure they knew which Parka it was, CMLL has been better lately acknowledging folks that passed away even if they didn't work for them. AAA Park was a big enough star it would have been a real dick move to not say anything.
  3. Daga tweeted about being the "Mexican fiancee" before quickly deleting it because....yeah.
  4. Roman's been such an afterthought it'd almost seem like a midcarder winning if he wins the Rumble this year. Also someone needs to throw ice water on Vince to get rid of the boner he has for Corbin.
  5. The thing about Tessa is the main reason she was in Impact in the first place is she had a terrible rep and no one else would touch her. Her going there was supposed to be a time for her to stay under the radar and rebuild her rep, which ironically was going pretty well until she decided to blow everything up today. So yeah, this isn't so much a case of everyone dogpiling on someone because the place they work makes them an easy target to ignore. It's because she's someone who was previously known to be a shithead who people were assuming had reformed before finding out that wasn't the case.
  6. cubsfan reported tonight that La Parka passed away tonight from the injuries he suffered doing a dive in November, he was 56 years old. Despite always being confused with the more famous LA Park, he was one of AAA's biggest stars really up until Psycho Clown broke out a few years ago.
  7. I'm sure there are women's wrestling fans who aren't pegging the creep-o-meter on a regular basis, but man do the creeps never stop.
  8. Marty apparently is working on a deal that will allow him to work ROH, NJPW, and NWA. Bandido signed a new deal as well. I hope they got some fat stacks for staying in what's quickly becoming the wrestling version of the Phantom Zone.
  9. Amazing to see the die hard Tessamaniacs try to spin this as "TEH HATERZ" coming out to ruin her big moment on PPV, except none of this would have come up had she not decided to be the Melania Trump of wrestling twitter. (also yes my bad for not making it clear that Isla Dawn's tweet was in addition to the spit/N word incident. Grammar is hard sometimes lol)
  10. Isla Dawn has also come forward as well as the person who was the target of the spitting/N word combo.
  11. To be fair, it sucks when someone you admire does something to reveal their inner shithead-ery. The reflex is to either ignore or excuse it somehow, but it's hard when the person just doubles down on denying it when the evidence pours in.
  12. I started a new thread for the Tessa hijinx.
  13. It was suggested it should have its own thread, so here it is. The story for those who don't follow the Impact thread: Tessa made a tweet about supporting women and it opened the floodgates for every woman wrestler she had a run in with and/or saw her bad behavior to drop all the receipts for the world to see.
  14. I think it's about the one where she got into a shoot fight in a battle royal then another one in the locker room.
  15. I remember a while back there was a Japanese woman wrestler going off on Tessa (among others) being an unprofessional shit at a show she was on, bullying someone who was new to the business in the locker room. As soon as I saw Tessa tweeting about supporting women I was like "oh no baby, what is u doin"....she opened the floodgates and now everyone she ever had a run in with is going to be dunking on her.
  16. The UFC thing definitely hurt. He spent a lot of time leading up to his first fight on social media showing all the training he was doing, and he went in there looking like he literally just walked off the street into the cage. For all the talking he did about how it pissed him off part timers were walking in to WWE and getting main event spots on big events, it made him look like a gigantic hypocrite to basically do the same thing in UFC. To be fair, he clearly wanted to do it and by all accounts put in as much work as a guy with a body broken down from a pro wrestling career could, but it was a bad look for a guy who was as vocal as he is. It shot a lot of his credibility which is pretty much all you have in wrestling. Coming back to do a WWE-adjacent gig just makes him look like he didn't even have the balls to sell out properly and is just hiding behind the veneer of "well actually, I work for Fox". Plus it seems like he's salty his big return didn't pop huge numbers, when it just seems people don't give two shits about a show that's so blatantly just WWE propaganda disguised as a talking head sports show.
  17. The funny thing is his rep was being a snarky asshole before he did the pipe bomb promo and he became an Internet Hero for saying WWE sucks on WWE TV. Then he got bonus points for telling WWE to fuck off and leaving when their doctors nearly killed him. It's like people forgot his entire career before he cut that promo, and when he turned out to still be a snarky asshole people were like an IRL version of the shocked Pikachu meme.
  18. I was around for FMW and WAR back in the day, yet I have zero recollection of Dr. Luther. This is like when I hear people talking about some random dude from the 90s working in WCW and I'd be like "when did that happen". It's like I have parts of 90s wrestling just randomly erased from my brain.
  19. You never know, a 30+ year old movie is right in Vince's wheelhouse.
  20. Agreed with Brandi. Trying to do you own deal is fine, and the people involved are all capable of doing something cool, but having her go from loving wife of Cody to Bae Wyatt was too much of a gimmick change too fast. No one buys it, and because it appears to be Brandi's pet project I get the impression no one wants to be the one to say something about it. As far as Kushida and Shelley, I get the feeling everyone just assumes the team name comes from the Back to the Future gimmick and no one even thinks of the video games. Which does pose the question how has a gimmick so clearly based off a popular film franchise manage to fly under the radar in WWE?
  21. I love that the story showed that Dave has always been Dave, and that he still is salty about it with the "....and I didn't deserve detention" line he said under his breath.
  22. TBF, I'm an old ass Gen Xer and I think Logan Paul would make a tremendous pro wrestling heel, like when Kevin Federline was on Raw years back. Dude has that douchebag charisma off the charts.
  23. Yeah of all people to pull the Saudi card on, the Miz was an odd choice. It still comes off that a lot of folks are mad that he was on TV before getting in to wrestling and is on TV while wrestling (by all accounts his Miz and Mrs show comes off as the best WWE produced reality show as Miz and family all come off as fun wacky people who seem like they'd be cool to hang out with).

Tanahashi, Jericho, Gedo, and Rocky Romero were all involved in the idea.

Jericho clearly wants it to happen, and Tony seems to as well since he allowed the use of the belt in the build for Wrestle Kingdom, let's just hope they can get the Elite guys out of their feelings and make them realize it's Best for Business to turn a phrase.
