WWE branding is what it is, but they are working hard to shoehorn "Sassy Southern Belle" in as much as they can.

Corey's still on his bullshit, saying anyone who does a podcast about wrestling secretly wants to work for WWE. Bryan chimed in to mention if Corey put in the work Wade did he'd be able to do the podcast he wants to do, which was a pretty solid (yet accurate) burn.

I always assumed "People who report on WWE all secretly want to to work for us" seemed like something that gets imprinted in the brains of anyone inside WWE.

So listening to the show Dave did in Japan, he said there was a change in the relationship between AEW and NJPW. New Japan acknowledged Jericho as AEW champ on their website (previously mentions of AEW were forbidden), and Jericho was not at Dynamite because he is already in Japan (Dave pointed out he doesn't have a match until 1/5, and Moxley's match is 1/4 and he was on the show). The implication was clear that losing AXS a year before they were expecting to, plus Jericho seemingly mending some fences, seems to be making it a possibility we'll see the partnership everyone knows is best for everyone.

I'm sure it will work out fine because Arn is Arn and even in 2020 that's still going to be awesome. The problem is that Cody and Brandi were such a good team it's a hard act to follow. I get she wanted to do her own thing and not be pigeonholed as "Cody's wife", but it seemed like breaking up one solid act for two so-so ones. Bringing in Arn does create all kinds of interesting opportunities. Beyond the obvious stuff with Tully, they could do a storyline where Dustin is worried his brother is being managed by the guy who turned on him back in WCW.

JR's eroding skills have been discussed ad nauseam but he still is great at being disgusted by heel tactics.

I lol'ed at Jericho offering Mox an "Executive VP" role in the Inner Circle.

Lana is doing her damnedest to try to work this angle on her Twitter, admonishing people for assuming someone isn't gay because they've never mentioned it before. The irony of course is if she really was gay she'd be the first one announcing it to everyone on social media.

Now he just has to hope Vince doesn't think he married above his pay grade and start trying to split them apart.

It is pretty funny looking at social media and seeing folks freaking out/predicting doom for AEW when they've probably had the best first year any promotion could hope for. Sure they made some mistakes, and maybe the Elite are realizing that there was more work involved than they bargained for running a company, but it seems overall they're doing pretty good in an industry so dominated by one company there's large swaths of fans not used to anything different.

Sonya's been pitching a low key LGBTQ storyline with her and Mandy (and they were clearly going that way at some point a few months ago), and now she had to watch them do what they did last night. I guess the best spin you can put on it is at least WWE treated it with the same respect it treats any other hetero relationship (there always has to be a crazy female), but for one it was so shoehorned it came off as patronizing, and it played on stereotypes of bisexuals clearly learned by someone who's view of such things was learned in the 90s via porn sites. Plus there's the matter of Lana's response of attacking her basically being domestic violence if we're supposed to believe these two have been in a downlow relationship all this time. I guess you can be generous and say it plays in in Lana's overall character she's been doing in this angle, but it's still a big yikes when you step back and look at it.

I would say the last non RKO finisher that was a big deal was when the Shield were triple powerbombing everyone. They even did it to the Undertaker which was huge in getting them over in the beginning.

It was really telling that the crowd died during the Lana/Liv fight. They wanted to see them be a happy couple but instead we got a 90s lesbian catfight.

To me it was both, the ex spouses part went on for too long but then it went to another level and became amazing.

This whole thing is so Paul Heyman, it's amazing.

Yeah between this and Andrade winning the US title at MSG, it looks like WWE is on another one of those kicks they get on where they try to make you think stuff that matters will happen at house shows.

I dunno, even when Cornette makes a good point all I can think of is the "You're not wrong, you're just an asshole" scene from Big Lebowski.

If there ever would be any partnership between NJPW and AEW it would probably come from Jericho, since he's the one person who's been a top guy on both sides and doesn't have any ill will towards New Japan. It seems that since Jericho mentioned in his announcement post that he talked to Tony about it, you wouldn't name check your boss if you were just working your own angle. My hope is that Tony tells the Elite guys to get the fuck over themselves and make some money.

So apparently it came (heh) out today that Lars Sullivan appeared in a gay porn movie back in the day, which considering the views he's espoused in the past is effin' hilarious.
