  1. Well Matt Taven chose them just recently. I agree he's not a draw but WWE and ROH apparently both made offers and he chose ROH.
  2. ROH will continue to shuffle on as long as Sinclair wants it to, same thing with Impact and Anthem. Groups that don't have ties to big money like MLW would be the most at risk to get swallowed up by something like this. The only issue with NJPW America's plan here is that success in the US hinges on TV, and their TV partner here is AXS which just got bought by Anthem and gutted their staff. Maybe it will turn out to be easier for wrestling to get on TV now that AEW gets a million viewers a week on TNT, but it's probably still going to be an uphill climb for a Japanese owned company to get anywhere on US TV.
  3. When talking about guys in WWE who would potentially jump to AEW, Dave would occasionally say it was all the guys you'd think would want to jump but there was one name you'd never think of. I always thought he was talking about Orton when he'd say that. This very well could be him just playing both sides to get a better deal, but I wonder how much of his famous lack of interest in most of his work these days stems from him just being bored of WWE. He's done all he can do in the company in both kayfabe and IRL, he's never worked anywhere outside WWE, and I could see jumping to a viable competitor being something that would interest him.
  4. FWIW, they decided to no longer use copyrighted music for themes and everyone got new in-house produced ones. Except Wagner, because he's Dr. Wagner.
  5. He is part of one of the most over acts in the company and the build up to his win was one of the hottest parts of Wrestlemania. It's not like they put the belt on Bo Dallas or some shit like that. He wasn't out of place as champ, it just didn't have any long term legs. Of course there's the WWE problem of wanting to book babyfaces in general as goofs and it just wasn't going to work.
  6. Ambrose wasn't the champ. That's on Vince. If he can't get Brock to play ball and have a competitive match with the goddamned WWE champion, then that's a failure he has to own.
  7. It was time for Kofi to lose, no one really argues that. Having it be a 5 second squash was lazy bullshit that looks bad in context of the build to him winning based partially on "people like Kofi" not getting title shots. Having him lose to the big jacked-up white guy who's barely around makes it seem like the end of the story was "yup, people like Kofi don't deserve to be champ after all". He should have gone out on his shield after a 10-15 minute sprint where he gave Brock all he could handle before being overwhelmed. Instead he got the total jobber treatment that made him look like a geek that never should have been champ.
  8. The show will end up on AAA's Youtube channel eventually as well.
  9. Daga wins the LA title, perhaps this means Tessa will be around more often?
  10. Poor Nino, got fucked by Maravilla and that table.
  11. Michael Nakazawa in the opener to quell fears that the AEW partnership was fading away I suppose.
  12. Jesus, I forgot how BRUUTAL (don't sue me Hugo) watching AAA's Twitch channel without ad blockers can be.
  13. Pretty sure if we look back, the Brock match was most likely the point Dean Ambrose stopped giving a fuck in WWE.
  14. He had some bad luck too, like having all sorts of ideas for the Brock match only to have him not want to play ball and basically squash him.
  15. Rush teasing an appearance on his Twitter, which should be taken with a grain of salt considering AAA's promoted matches are not guaranteed to happen more often than not.
  16. btw this will air on AAA's Spanish and English Twitch channels at 8pm central time if anyone's interested in watching.
  17. Would he though? We know he can talk outside of the scripted WWE nonsense, but who's to say he's someone who would be able to work outside WWE? We've seen Mox do a complete 180 from the WWE style and thrive in multiple promotions, I'm not 100% that Roman could be a guy that can mix it up in a different environment.
  18. I would gather Austin knows a thing or two about the desire to show your ex employer that they dropped the ball. It wouldn't surprise me if he sees Dean Ambrose>MOX similar to Stunning Steve turning into Stone Cold.
  19. AEW might acknowledge it, since they have a working relationship. As for Park? He has a knack for showing up on AAA's big shows to set up angles that ultimately don't lead anywhere so probably. Rush seems like a safe bet since sticking it in CMLL's eye seems like something both sides would be down for right now.
  20. Clearly people tuned in week one on the promise things would be different on Fox, and quickly tuned away when it was apparent it was just the same old shit in a shinier wrapper.
  21. She went from a happy 8 year old to a moody 16 year old. Which is probably the most character advancement WWE has done in a while.
  22. Collect your prize at the door.
  23. They literally can't help themselves it seems. It's almost humorous at this point how they seem to be making the worst possible decisions on every show now.
  24. Relaying ratings trends in a stream of conscious tweet storm was a bad idea.
  25. Goes back to what I said in another thread, Japanese culture is just not going to allow an American company to waltz in and do what they want. WWE seemed to count on NOAH/Stardom being marks for the WWE name like the UK groups were and didn't expect them to ask even the most basic questions in terms of what the long term plans were.
