WWE TV 09/23 - 09/29 Necropolitics are in vogue
Dave dropped a post in the thread about it on the WON board comparing it to the Jarrett/Gulas split back in the day, stating "when you're over 40 you think the new guys will always fail and the king will be around forever" so it implied Punk either didn't have faith in AEW being a success or thinking Vince will just steamroll them.

Absolutely. It seemed clear from the infamous show with Colt that his biggest problem (besides the doctor) was not bending the knee to Hunter. Dave made a good point in the latest WON though. Even though Punk would be better suited as an analyst, the moment he does that show the fans will expect him to wrestle again and the show becomes all about Punk and not whatever they are planning it to be. What's strange is despite Punk appearing to be mellowing out in his old age and no longer holding any ill will toward WWE, that he would go back to the company that so blatantly tried to fuck him with the Dr. Amman lawsuit. That would seem to be the kind of thing Punk would absolutely not want to do based on everything we've ever heard about him.

So Sasha posted on Twitter mocking Seth for his (admittedly corprate sounding) Tweet where he was looking forward to his match with Rey. He responded by jabbing back saying her matches are underwhelming. Very odd exchange to say the least.

Current Lucha Talk
So in case you were worried CMLL would stop doing dumb things after Paco died, Dragon Lee has apparently been benched for going to PWG to do BOLA. They didn't want him to go since AAA guys were going to be there, but he did anyway.

Well ROH doesn't have a set time frame, that's why I didn't list it.

Byron and Tom got done real dirty. They were the lowkey MVPs and got kicked to the curb.

Having said that I would be down for a Scott Steiner vs WALTER match the more I think about it.

No idea since neither person is on this show.

LOL guess Uncle Paul is trying to get El-P's attention with the Quebecois tag team.

That was weird, I had to reset my WWE Network password to log in to watch hour 2. I had it saved on my iPad to automatically log in, but suddenly it didn't work.

To be fair, Mauro seems way more toned down this week. I'm back to being annoyed at silly WWE speak like "title opportunity" rather than Mauro himself.

That was my only complaint. How are the flippy guys supposed to impress anyone when Keith Lee is doing the same moves at like 3x their size.

NXT starting off with a big boy match, if nothing else they've already nailed how to start a show.

WWE Hidden Gems
That was pretty much it for the AWA wasn't it? I know they officially ceased to exist in 1991, but I don't recall them doing anything past mid 1990 ish.

WWE Hidden Gems
Was bummed to see it was pretty much a squash, did enjoy watching Ronnie pass off a AWA tag belt as the TV title (what was up with that, I know they actually had a belt made).

The Jim Cornette Experience
Not to mention the Bucks basically blew up Corny's spot when they revealed he approached them to work a program during their "beef" saying it would be the only program people would believe. Ever since then I've viewed all of his rants against modern wrestlers through the prism of a guy trying to shoot his own angle.

Also Villano III being potentially on the chopping block is a god damned tragedy. The lucha logjam is one of the more ridiculous things about the WON HOF. Sometimes it seems like people such as cubsfan are just yelling into the wind trying to build cases why not only should the entire lucha category be in, but that they should have been in years ago already. Imagine having a pro wrestling HOF where say, Randy Savage and Jushin Liger continually get passed over year after year and no one other than a small handful of people even seem pressed by it. It's pretty much what we have here only with Villano III and Dr. Wagner Jr still waiting to get in.

Current New Japan
While New Japan tends to wait to the last minute to announce cards even for Japanese shows, they're supposedly afraid of announcing US cards too far out in advance and having some bullshit happen that prevents everyone from being able to make it. It seems they are waiting until they are sure everyone they plan to book is cleared to be able to make the trip.

Sean Oliver's Kayfabe Podcast
Does Vinny Ru warrant any more exposure at this point? All he does is spew the same discredited bullshit and whips up his army of toxic stans to attack anyone who calls him out as the lying carny he is.

Kenny Omega: "If [NXT] guys were in the same show as me, they'd be in the dark match. They'd be in the opening match of my main event match."
Omega's headlined shows and had good matches, Shane did all his bragging with nothing but Dean Douglas and the Dynamic Dudes on his resume. He was out there talking shit on the biggest star in the business while never getting above the level of lower mid card comedy guy. Kenny may come off as a dork at times but at least he's put in the work to be able to talk shit on people.

Two weeks of the show ending with him appearing to be peeing his pants in fear of the Fiend isn't helping him? How could have WWE predicted this?

Kenny Omega: "If [NXT] guys were in the same show as me, they'd be in the dark match. They'd be in the opening match of my main event match."
Shane Douglas came off as desperate for attention from the big boys in 1996, no one thought him doing grandstand challenges to Ric Flair made him edgy at the time. ECW being gritty, violent, and something that looked like guerrilla TV made it the edgy alternative back then. Kenny's being honest in the context of a heel character. There's only a handful of people in NXT who would have even made it on any of the major cards he headlined and Donavan Dijak certainly wouldn't have been one of them. Now does make it kind of weird that we know that Kenny's a VP, so him being heelish in any context is going to be jarring. But the guy's not going to be happy smiling babyface forever.

Heel does heel stuff, the internet explodes. Film at 11. He got name dropped on yesterday's New Japan show, so he's not wrong. He's being the best kind of heel: he's saying things that are more or less true, but in a dickish way. We loved it when Tully would do it in 1985, but Kenny does it today and people think he's destroying his company.
