Triplemania XXVI Thread
I don't know if anyone watched it, but there was a documentary after the show on Twich that was sponsored by GoPro. There were three parts: Vampiro as broken down garbage wrestler who realized he didn't have any skillset for a non wrestling job, so he studied the production side to get a backstage gig. He was more or less presented as a cautionary tale, a guy who sacrificed his marriage and watching his daughter grow up in order to be a big star in wrestling. The second part was about Faby Apache, talking about how her dad was the typical Wrestling Dad who didn't want his kids to get involved only to relent when he realized how much they wanted to do it. They show her running the school her father ran forever, complete with some scenes of her son (who was part of an angle in AAA when he was a baby) doing some basic rope-running type training in the ring. She also mentioned how her dad passed quickly after being diagnosed with stomach cancer and how she still missed him terribly. The most striking part was how they showed her living in a modest apartment despite being in wrestling for so long and running the training school that produced practically everyone of note that ever came up through AAA. They showed scenes from a houseshow in December wher Goya Kong broke her leg in two doing a somersault dive in a match where the ref was wearing a Go Pro cam, showing his point of view of Mamba asking "how is Gloria" since he saw her injury from the ring but had to keep selling. The third part was Hijo del Phantasma, showing him living in a fancier high rise apartment since he had a day job with the government (possibly related to his dad being the boxing and wrestling commissioner but they didn't say that) so he had more of a steady income than the others. He was talking about how much he loved wrestling but it was taking him away from his family. He came across as a level headed guy who wanted to balance family and work.

Comments that don't warrant a thread - Part 4
Allegedly there's a lot of it, including the only surviving footage of anything that aired on the old DuMont network. The issue as I've always heard is that WWE doesn't deem it broadcast worthy.

Has she done anything other than take what appeared to be a very light chokeslam bump? The video I saw doesn't seem to warrant the outrage at all. Now training with Rance? That would warrant some outrage. His continued involvement in wrestling should warrant more outrage IMO. Practically everyone who ever wrestled in Mexico started at a very early age and on much harder rings in most cases. I don't see there being much evidence of bumping being any more or less dangerous at that age than any other.

Am I the only one not seeing what the big deal was about that? If we're talking about it being a bad idea for a 12 year old to get into a business as scummy as wrestling, I'd understand. Everyone on wrestling Twitter was rending their garments over her taking a chokeslam and how it was "child abuse" and I thought it was going to be some deathmatch shit, or a "Vader breaking a jobber's back" type bump...only to watch the video and see it was a gentle back bump. She was posting pictures with her "opponent" afterwards saying what a great time it was. I just don't get the outrage that sprung up over it. As big of a fan as she obviously is, I guarantee she's taken worse bumps in her yard.

WWE Network... It's Here
There's also the weird dynamic where Ric is clearly living vicariously through her and she's stated several times she only got into wrestling because it was Reid's dream and she was fullfilling it for him. Every time I see them together it's like there's an undercurrent of "Dad finally is paying attention to me" to it that makes it uncomfortable.

Fire Pro World X New Japan
It should be noted that while a Switch version has not specifically been announced, the devs said if the PS4 version sells then they would look into one. The PS4 version came to exist because the Steam version exceeded expectations, so they're not just blowing smoke.

WWE TV 08/27 - 09/02 *insert topical subject here*
Yeah but Cena and Nikki were a real couple, and despite how much was played up for reality TV clearly things went sour between them.

Why would Cena team with them? That would be awkward on many levels.

Fire Pro World X New Japan
The only way would be to run something like Wine or another Windows emulator and run it from there. There probably won't be a direct Mac port since that platform is practically non existent in Japan (same reason there's no Xbox One version either).

I'm always down for a Horsemen beatdown and this was no exception.

Watching on DVR and I'm at the Elias/Trish segment. At least they are consistent in how even the women from the past are presented as bigger stars than the current roster,

So what is everybody doing?
I read that in CM Punk-as-Ryback voice....

Is Impact* the best wrestling promotion in history? *(Now TNA again, 2024)
The worst part is the week before was done brillantly, and this was like saying one sentence too many and getting in trouble with your SO. They took a really well done segment and left everyone's final impression a sour note.

Phantasma looking like he pulled a Kerry Von Erich and accidentally gigged his hand.

Park ending up one of the final two would probably help explain why AAA was so adamant the Rush/Park match wouldn't happen.

Jarrett beat Wagner for the title when Konnan came out dressed like Parka, this finish played off that down to Wagner doing Konnan's limp-run down the ramp.

Some subtext here, the last time Faby lost a hair match she barely got her hair cut and it was a Thing for a while.

This is why you watch the Spanish feed, even if you don't speak it.

Eye of the Tiger has been Konnan's theme in AAA forever. It doesn't really fit for the main heel group but it's like their equivalent to old man HBK still coming out to Sexy Boy at this point.

The show's started if anyone was waiting to jump in (being nearly 45 minutes late to start was very On Brand for AAA).

They are doing a lead up show around 6-6:30 EST, the pre show starts around 8 EST, main card at 9 EST, and the main event mask match will start at midnight EST no matter what since it is airing on TV in Mexico at that time. Keep in mind AAA is notorious for not starting on time, so those times are more of a general guideline than anything else.

AAA is showing it live on their Twitch channels, they have separate Spanish and English feeds but you're better off with the Spanish feed unless listening to Vampiro and Matt Striker trying to pop each other all night is your bag.

WWE TV 08/20 - 08/26 THE BIG DOG IS THE UNIVERSAL CHAMPION
Kinda shocked they didn't just claim his contract was on ice for him not showing up to work. Especially with the UK scene growing like it is. I guess there's limits on WWE's pettiness after all.
