  1. The thing about Bruce is he seems to be saying things about Dave he knows aren't true to drum up his own business, and his fans are believing it and harassing him on Twitter because of it. As far as I know, Dave hasn't knowingly pushed anything he knew was not true for his own benefit. So this both-sides-are-equally-bad take doesn't hold water.
  2. Apparently Bruce said something on the latest episode along the lines of Dave tried to get USA Today to do an expose on blading after a SNME show in 1989, leading to his fanbase going after a bewildered Dave on Twitter (again). There comes a point where guys like this and Russo risk turning themselves into an Alex Jones type, who can be both dismissed as unreliable crazies and also feeding in to a fanbase seemingly not aware of the gimmick and believe everything they say as gospel.
  3. You pretty much have to keep him in a speaking role, so your options are let him ramble (brother) or have him try to recite overscripted 2018 WWE speak that everyone of his generation has struggled mightily with. Have him come out to get the welcome back to the family pop, let him do his gimmick where he pretends he wants the crowd to stop cheering which only eggs them on to cheer more, then keep him as a talking head for DVD/network specials.
  4. Not really looking forward to the "everyone predicting New Japan's doom" phase of it once being the internet's favorite fed, but here we are. US shows not really selling fast, can't be that they didn't really announce any card or person appearing, has to be a sign Gedo lost it and/or Okada's done as a draw. Okada/Kenny 4 is going to be a no time limit match, can't be another chapter to one of the best feuds of the last decade, it has to be bad because Dave likes both guys because.....reasons? I don't know. Somehow Dave liking a match makes it overrated now so *shrug* It reminds me of how people want Nintendo to close shop and become a software only publisher every time they hit a bump in the road. Then they come out with something like the Switch that gets over huge and all those people look silly.
  5. WWE is doing a series about guys' former identities on the indies before they came to WWE. The first one I saw was about Seth Rollins and his Tyler Black days, which means WWE is doing a better job promoting ROH's history than ROH does.

It's weird, I know Backlash was May 6th, but I was still surprised to get the WWE emails "THIS SUNDAY" about it. Show feels like it's still weeks away.
  7. I really hope the off air segments make the upload. Raw had so many and quite a few on Heat were filmed as highlights at times were shown on Raw so no excuses that they didnt film any. I seriously doubt they put up anything but the shows as aired. We could have said the same thing about Raw but they suprised us there. The Raws they uploaded have bonus footage or is the bonus footage somewhere else on the Network. Like if I throw on a Raw from 98, does it have a dark match thrown in or something? A lot of the Attitude Era Raws have an "extra attitude" segment usually just for the live crowd to send them home happy.
  8. Did we ever get word on the state of the Georgia footage they own? I figured it must have been bad if they were using what looked like YouTube rips on some of their DVDs. Then again, that doesn't make sense since they were filmed at Turner's TV station and he is known to be a preservationist.
  9. Tanahashi seems to be at the top of the list too. Like everyone who ever runs into him in person is just in awe of his looks.
  10. PWInsider: Reports that WWE plans to add 104 episodes of Mid-Atlantic TV in May, which will finish that promotion’s run. They will add another 76 episodes of Mid-South in June and 50 episodes of WCW Saturday Night in July. They also have Sunday Night Heat ready to add whenever they choose, as well as additional WWE Coliseum Home Video titles later this year. 76 additional episodes of Mid South makes me happy. Having a tag team of Heat and Mid-Atlantic this month seems to be the best way to make everyone happy.
  11. Ariya Daivari posted that he got death threats over the Iran vs Saudi Arabia angle he did with his brother on the show. Considering relations between those two countries could be described as "slightly less hostile than Iran vs America" this was not a smart thing to do on this show.

Props to Corey for working the Pittsburgh Pirates' home run call into his commentary ("Clear the deck, cannonball's coming").
  13. I would expect Sami's charity will probably see a large donation in the next few days in the name of H. Finkel.

The Iconics are supposed to be an Austrialian version of Laycool, but neither one are nearly as good as being bitchy mean girls as either Michelle or Layla were. I don't hate either Billie or Peyton but they do kind of come off as a cover band version of a better act.
  15. Can I suggest it's possible to be fully aware of the cynical nature of how money makes the world work (especially in wrestling), and still feel skeeved that WWE is so eagerly whoring themselves out to a brutal regieme? I know I don't have clean hands either, hell nearly everyone I watched growing up as a kid either died from some combination of drugs or at least fucked themselves up from them. That didn't make me stop watching despite WWE not making any real attempts to clean their house until guys started dying on their watch. Vince even told Congress the Wellness Policy was just done as PR because the company was getting heat from all the wrestler deaths. The fact that it stemmed the tidal wave of bodies the business was facing was just a bonus. But in a way, we already knew that before he said a word. Anyone who's looked into the actual business end of wrestling even the smallest bit knows what a snake pit it is. There's always been a sliding scale of scummy and nasty that applied to wrestling, since there's such a history of appauling behavior that would never have flied in any other industry. But still, there's something about this that seems different. To me at least. This isn't a promoter cheapening out the workers on a payday, or false advertising to their fans. It's really not even the no women thing to be honest, it's seeing a company that is for better or worse the industry leader in their field going full out Bagdad Bob on the pro Saudi propaganda making Jeddah out to be some kind of Disneyland in the desert, Especially when media darling Prince MBS was able to consolidate power by forcing the people he wanted out to resign under penalty of death. He may not be as into the theocracy part as much as the old guard, but his means are just as brutal. I don't know, maybe that just makes me a "SJW cuck-lord" or whatever the current slur is for people who give a shit about anyone but themselves, but this just seems like a bridge too far. I didn't even watch the GRR to be honest. Beyond not wanting to sit through another five hour death march of a show, the constant shilling of KSA on WWE TV leading up to the show just left a bad taste in my mouth. Will I watch Raw tomorrow? Not gonna lie, I will. But if we're going to be in an era where Raw and SD are going to be full of pro Saudi propaganda for the next 10 years, I don't see sticking around for that. It's going to be interesting to see what happens now. There's already a general sense of unease that WWE is in bed with this government, is all the money they are going to get from this going to be worth the potential bad PR? That's not even considering 10 years is a long time to have a deal with any country when we're seemingly one 3am tweet away from WW3 happening.
  16. Judging from history, if Steph is anything like her father Gail will be the one she wants to bring back the most. Nothing more McMahons like than bringing someone back who said mean (or just unflatteringly true) things so they can have them kiss the ring,
  17. Somewhere in the neighborhood of a butt-load. We'll know when the Q2 results come out in August, but yes it's probably at least a butt-load and possibly even a fuck-ton.
  18. He posted on Twitter asking when does money trump passion, so it perhaps he had a bit of a moral conflict over this.
  19. I wonder if this will affect the 10 year deal if the government feels this scandalized.
  20. The KSA sports authority sent out a release apologizing for an ad that aired during the show that apparently featured women. Also it mentioned that they made it clear to WWE that nothing involving women wrestling would be allowed either on the show or in advertising. But keep changing those minds, Paul.
  21. So today's WO update mentions Zayn was kept off the show because WWE is big on respecing local cultures and customs. Which one would imagine mean not using a guy who's been pretty vocal raising funds to help people underneath the bombs probably being paid for by the Saudis.
  22. Yeah if you look at it close, it's just Heenan taking one of his ridiculous bumps the moment the belt tighens slightly.

The spot where she kicks her feet back at her opponent like a cat burying its poop in the litter box always gets a chuckle from me.
  24. You may be thinking of the in-ring "debate" angle they did with Heenan and Ken Patera right after Patera returned from prison. They bleeped Heenan during it, I think when he made comments about Patera's wife and kids. It ended with one of the more violent bits of WWF TV from the time where Patera took Heenan's belt off and used it to strangle/whiplash him. Heenan wore a neck brace for months to sell it Yes! That's it exactly. Thank you! I remember that as well as Ken's follow up promo the next week when he was upset that Bobby had called his wife "things other than Mrs. Patera".

AAF, stupid as it is, will end up beating XFL to the punch in nearly every aspect to the point there's really not much reason for it to exist (if there ever was one to begin with). The real question will be if any WWE investors end up asking about Vince clearly taking money from one business to fund another.
