I love the Yano interview where he said he was proud of Nakamura for bringing low blows to an international stage (low blows are part of Yano's gimmick in New Japan if you didn't know).
  2. The Japan show was just a normal international houseshow until Brock decided to work it (IIRC he was going to Japan anyway to visit someone and it was a "might as well get a payday while I'm here" deal), nowhere near the same level as this show.
  3. That's going to be kind of weird for them to explain why the champion's manager wasn't at such a big show, especially if Brock loses there. I mean, other than just coming out and saying "Jews aren't particularly welcome there" that is.
  4. Somewhere Colt Cobana is waiting for his phone to ring.....
  5. He's out with a knee injury anyway. What's the second punch, btw? I know he's Israeli, is he gay as well (that's the only other thing I could guess would bother the Saudis)?
  6. Not to mention the logic doesn't make sense. They're going to affect change by going to a country with a horrible record toward women's rights and.....do exactly what that country would do any other time? Yeah that will certainly show them by taking their fat checks and telling the women to stay home. Plus I love how he makes it sound like it's just a weird culture thing, like eating strange instead of keeping half the population in the stone age. Fun fact: if you ever look into why women are treated the way they are, it's because the belief is if women were allowed to go freely and dress however they like then men wouldn't be able to control themselves.
  7. It would have been nice to see Billy get more time to go where he wanted to, but his track record probably meant it was only a matter of time before there was some blowup causing him or other important people to leave. It's kind of been his MO. He's kind of like Jim Cornette in that regard only instead of rants and threats of bodily harm he's more passive agressiveness and gaslighting folks.
  8. I have a bunch of DVDs that OVW would sell of their weekly TV before WWE put their foot down, it was really good stuff. One thing though, is that it will really make you mad to see how WWE missed the boat on a lot of guys. The best example probably would be seeing how Johnny Jeter was great in OVW, but got his passion for the busines beat out of him by getting stuck in the Spirit Squad.

Hyping SaudiMania while Ronda's theme was blaring in the background was pretty much peak WWE.

So Sami's new thing where he pulls out reading glasses and puts them on the end of his nose to read has to be a rib on Vince. Every time I've seen Vince wear his glasses he does the same thing.
  11. I just want to know where Dave is getting that it's been debunked, unless he was thinking the claim was she abused/pimped all her trainees.
  12. So Dave is now saying on Twitter that the pimping and drug stories have been debunked, which would be news to me.
  13. Impact also finally got new title belts that don't look like someone put stickers on the old ones to cover the TNA logos. Gotta hand it to them, they are working hard to build good will after Dixie did her damnednest to salt the Earth. TV has been improving, and this PPV was miles better than anything they've done in ages. They aren't going to turn things around on a dime, but at least you can see there's effort being made. Also is Don Callis the best politician in wrestling right now or what? He's an exec with Impact, who work with AAA, while being a commentator (and getting involved with angles like the Jericho stuff) for New Japan who work with CMLL. I know New Japan probably doesn't give a shit about the feud, but CMLL has been famously petty when their guys are anywhere near anyone associated with AAA. Not to mention Impact also works with Pro Wrestling Noah, and IIRC it wasn't a happy breakup when they stopped working with New Japan. Somehow he's making it all work so far, which might be the most impressive part to all this.
  14. All the socio-political issues aside, another reason to skip this show is not needing another marathon slog less than a month after Mania.
  15. So on tonight's PPV Scott Steiner did a top rope Frankensteiner. In 2018. And everyone survived.
  16. A lot of the early content on the network (ie: all the PPV shows) were just re uploads of the WWE 24/7 versions which were done when WWF had to be censored. The only thing that was undone from that era was restoring all the Benoit related stuff, other than the large amounts of commentary edited off the 2007 Night of Champions show since it was the announcers repeating that Benoit was not there due to a family emergency (which of course sounds about a billion times worse today without the context that the show was the day before everything was discovered).
  17. FWIW, I don't think people are asking for a ban based on that. It's just something weird. What gets under people's skin is him posting in a manner that is either an attempt to troll or wilful ignorace. That you have to make multiple attempts at reading it first is just the icing on the shodate cake.
  18. Yeah, that seems to be pretty much a lock at this point. I enjoy him but it does surprise me a bit. He doesn't seem like the body type they typically like. The did just sign War Machine, and they have Joe, so it's not like it's an automatic no like it used to be with them.
  19. It's weird, both are annoying but at least Booker comes off like he gives a shit. If I'm going to have to deal with an annoying commentator, I'd rather have the one that at least acts like he wants to be there.
  20. Is it really surprising that the dark side of women's wrestling during the 60s to the 80s was easily hidden? We're talking about a sideshow of a sideshow where not many people beyond the hardest of the hardcores know much about the non steroid related darkness of men's wrestling during the same time? There's also the matter than there were probably not many people in the business that really gave a shit how the women wrestlers were treated back then. That's kind of how Moolah was able to get and maintain her position, there really wasn't anyone around who cared enough to do anything about.
  21. His personality has always been grating to me, and fans of the show are starting to get nearly as obnoxious as Russo fans when it comes to blindly defending everything he says and bashing anyone who points out when he's wrong.
  22. The first week I could kind of give him a pass since he was out of the company for so long and obviously wasn't keeping up. The amazing part was how he was still sounding like a clueless newb weeks later. He clearly was making zero attempt at trying to get better to the point the other two were openly mocking him. Couldn't happen to a better guy either. He got so cocky for no reason working for ESPN, he became someone you start rooting for to get knocked down a peg. It was hilarious seeing him on Twitter talking down to wrestling people as if he was a longtime worker and not a goofy commentary guy.
  23. I have zero interest to watch it since it seems Bruce's entire schtick is everyone is wrong but him because he used to work for the WWF and by the way did you know he totally used to work for the WWF?
  24. So basically she's saying because Moolah had a stranglehold on women's wrestling, and froze out women who weren't part of her stable people should have been just happy they got what they got? Okay.
