WWE has zero clue how to properly book a proper white meat babyface anymore, so people like Bayley and Sami Zayn were pretty much doomed from the start. The only saving grace is that Bayley has way more charisma than any of the women so she may just well succeed in spite of the company's best efforts.

I loved Miz still in mourning over losing the IC title with Maryse looking like a blonde version of Lorde.
  3. So the details are coming out about the lawsuit. So far we can gather that TNA was just about out money until Aeroluxe bailed them out. They were about to default on payments to them and have Aeroluxe foreclose when Dixie went to Billy and got him to bail them out, The deal with Billy apparently had terms where if TNA defaulted on him, Dixie's shares of the company (ie: nearly the whole thing) would go to Billy. The LLC in charge (basically Dixie and Serg) stopped giving Billy access to the financial info around June, and which time they were running in to another money crunch. Billy's claim is that the company was insolvent and at that point the company would revert to his ownership per the terms of the loan agreement. Dixie seems to have thought she could just pretend that the agreement she signed didn't matter and got the Fight Network parent company to bail out their last PPV/TV tapings. That's why they were trying to pay Billy off to go away, it seems Dixie conned them into financing a company she doesn't legally own if what Billy states is correct. Unlike the other folks she's carnied in the past, it seems Billy has all his ducks in a row and Dixie seems to be a dead duck legally unless their lawyers can find some sort of technicality.

Finally able to create a topic, so here we go. Per Alvarez, Vince blew a gasket at the "Goldberg Sucks" chants and pulled the plug early on the Lesnar segment. Not sure why they expected Brock to be able to get heel heat in Minneapolis of all places. God bless Paul for working his ass off trying though.

Agreed, but it's amazing how mad people got over stuff said on the hotline at times.
  6. sek69 replied to Dylan Waco's topic in Pro Wrestling
I was just thinking about this, do you think the hotline might be held against Gene in some way? There were some pretty scummy things said at times and while I doubt Gene came up with them he's the one associated with it.
  7. It seems like 83 and 84 were pretty amazing years worldwide.
  8. Was Mike Graham the agent mentioned in Eddie's book when he stated the reason the Radicals got a complete release from WCW was that someone backstage threatened to slit their throats if they jumped ship?

I seem to remember the opposite, him saying how stupid it was to replace one of the best ring announcers ever just because Vince felt he was too old.
  10. Maybe they're trying to get in on a bankruptcy proceeding so they'd get a cut of the sale of the streaming rights? Didn't Vince give ECW loans he knew Paul couldn't pay back just to get first dibs of the assets when it got to the eventual bankruptcy proceedings? I seem to recall something like that being written in the Observer at the time. Maybe the Fight Network sees whatever money they gave TNA as a down payment on buying up the scraps later.

It will be funny in 15 years when he's running shows promoting himself as a former WWE Superstar and telling the boys he would have won the title but politics held him back.
  12. Shawn's absolutely going to be there in some aspect, but not wrestling a match.
  13. The Passion of the Shawn, live only on the WWE Network!
  14. I'd imagine AJ wants a match with Shawn, which seems unlikely since Shawn is pretty adamant about staying retired.

I love the No Way Jose/Rich Swann tag team, and evil Andrade is already 100% improved. My issue with Sanity is how it seems that they're just play acting as bad guys. After the Nikki Cross match when they were all hitting their mean face poses it was like you could see it on their faces them thinking "now I will make a mean face for 30 seconds, then turn slightly and make another mean face".
  16. TNA cultists will spin this as a new lease on life for the company when it seems like they just want Billy to go away.
  17. I really don't get the "Joe is past his prime" talk. Maybe if you're basing it off the end of his TNA run when he was phoning it in at Kevin Nash levels, but his NXT run has been pretty awesome.
  18. He wasn't that nuanced on Twitter, at least not until a million people jumped on him trying to play the "disrespect the military" card when he was famously AWOL from same said military.
  19. Re Randy's tweets: basically All Lives Matter, and Kaep is a traitor. It's not anything any worse than you hear from the Uncle you don't want to get stuck sitting next to at Thanksgiving, but a public figure working for a publicly traded company should be smarter than that.

It's doubly stupid because a yearly PPV kills the special attraction aspect of the cell, and PG eliminates any of the violence that made it a memorable match in the first place. Not that I want to see Foley cage bumps or HBK blade jobs in every cell match, but with the current landscape it's just a regular match with the cage around it. Even if the feud was super heated there's nothing special about it anymore.
  21. Speaking of wrestlers on Twitter, Randy Orton has gone on several tangents the last few weeks on things like Black Lives Matter and the Colin Kaepernick anthem protests. You can probably guess his views on those, the latter of which was especially ironic considering his history of going AWOL from the military (which people were quick to point out to him).

That Twitter gif was taken out of context from a video on WWC's Facebook page of Alberto and Paige celebrating. He grabbed her by the throat to bring her in for a kiss.
  23. sek69 replied to cpst's topic in WWE
To be fair to the women, since they started running HIAC as a yearly show has there been any matches that really warranted being in a cell? I can't think of any off the top of my head.
  24. I love what I've seen wrestling wise of Stampede, but the TV is hard to watch with matches always being JIP and Ed Whalen being the worst commentator ever.
  25. sek69 replied to cpst's topic in WWE
I don't think they can help it. Half of it is Vince wanting to make Steph seem like a trailblazer and half seems to be them trying to prove to sponsors they don't treat women as shitty as they did in the Attitude era.
