Memphis wrestling question
So I'm watching 1986 Memphis TV on YouTube, and around October they bring in Sputnik Monroe in to introduce his son Bubba to the territory. He's obviously not the greatest worker but he's not Erik Watts-ing it out there either. Within a couple weeks, he's losing in 25 seconds to Jerry Lawler. With wrestling being wrestling, I figure there has to be a story behind that one.

As a long time fighting game fan, I love that Cesaro's new gimmick is basically Urien from Street Fighter III:

RIP Chyna
I wouldn't go as far as to blame WWE for her death, but it really shouldn't be undersold how shitty it was for Hunter to be creeping around behind her back with the boss's daughter no matter what other emotional baggage she might have had. Plus it was almost like no one in the company could fathom why she might not take the news well and were surprised at her reaction.

RIP Chyna
It seems like her whole life even before wrestling was a slow motion train wreck. I believe she mentioned in her book there was some kind of abuse in her childhood and her going into bodybuilding and kind of implied that her getting so jacked up and muscular was more or less her overcompensating for that. Then after becoming a star in wrestling as a giant Amazon woman who beat up men, they end up putting her in goofy romance angles with Mark Henry and have her get her face reshaped to look more feminine. Of course the breakup with HHH and everything seemed to go downhill from there.

If he's going heel or even tweener, yes it's great. If he's staying babyface (and the stubbornness of the last two years suggest he probably is) then it's stupid since it's just actively pissing off the most vocal portion of your fanbase and working against the supposed goal of making him the #1 good guy.

Is TNA the worst wrestling promotion in history?
I would think someone Indian would at least have the opportunity to explain it, since Americans would probably be confused at seeing a brown-skinned person sporting a symbol most only know as emblematic of a hate group.

Well that's one positive of living in a social media driven world, the truly bigoted can't help but make their feelings known at some point.

Are the Harris brothers considered to be Neo-Nazis for legitimate actions that can be pointed to in their past or is it the gimmick tattoos? Giant SS arm tattoos are hardly a gimmick. Plus one of them got suspended in the early days of TNA for wearing an SS shirt. A lot of people seem to want to hand wave this away as a nutty rasslin' gimmick, but they're pretty committed to it if it is.

What's funny is that Cody Rhodes just tweeted out not to long ago that Rose had the best physique in the company.

Dave Meltzer stuff
It's different in LU. Partly because lucha has a rich history of wacky gimmicks that work and also because the backstage segments are produced by professional TV people who do it way better than the hokey stuff we see in TNA or WWE. Basically LU is what WWE wishes they were with the "we make movies" nonsense.

Dave Meltzer stuff
He isn't chastising them for caring, he's responding to people going nuts that he went over the results of a pre taped show as if that has never been done before.

WWE TV April 11th to 17th
Yeah, if anything Adam Rose should be celebrated for living the gimmick to its fullest.

Dave Meltzer stuff
Neither does TNA.

Dave Meltzer stuff
It's a really good show, but they have oddly obsessive fans who seem to think Dave never reported on taping results before.

It always strikes me as odd when they report Wellness failures on the website with the person's real name. Reminds me of how WCW used to do "everything is fake but this part of the show is real" type angles. I get why they do it, but it's always weird to me to see them acting like a legit news outlet.

So it looks like the latest content dump was 2000-2001 Smackdowns if that's anyone's bag.

Wrestling's most shameless, most glorious exaggerations
"We ran three shows a day, seven days a week!" If the person saying this worked in Mexico, it might be true.

Hmm.. that's not what happened. She lost. She feels bad, but she is going to fight back to regain her title with the support of her fans. I didn't see it that way at all, to me she came out for her first post-loss match (which was taped the day after if I recall correctly) doing the same usual shtick as always. Plus her post match promo was straight up Cena style "oh well I lost guys, I guess I'll get 'em next time!" Don't get me wrong, I don't think she should get beat up for it as bad as Cena does (it is kind of her gimmick to be unbearably cheery) but I was expecting someone to bring it up.

Because they already draw more than TNA and don't need to waste money on advertising to people proven to not spend any cash ever (TNA fans).

Horror stories in women's wrestling history
That, and the people in and around wrestling have always treated the women in the business as their personal fucktoys so Moolah pimping out her crew wouldn't be something that would stand out as particularly awful to them.
