Anyone else get a "Samoan Chyna" vibe from those Nia Jax videos on NXT?

She shouldn't HAVE to cut promos but WWE style demands everyone have to recite overly written promos.

That always struck me as odd since he gives all the signs of being the exact type to know any and all porn genres. Also I get a bad feeling Kana's going to get the "she can't cut it in WWE" rap trying to work miracles with the Eva Maries and Dana Brookes of the world.

I won't be able to watch until HULU tomorrow, but I assume a rotund and amazingly handsome bald man hopped the guard rails and proceeded to be incredibly funny and charming? some guy in a mask started walking down the ramp with Rollins for his entrance for a split second Also, shout outs to the guy who gave The Big Show an utterly pointless thump on the arm I like in an era where most wrestlers can mean mug fans and get laughed at, that dude legit thought for a second Show was going to kill him.

Labor Day + defending college football national champions' first game of the season tonight as well.
  6. 16 bit era was an odd time for wrestling games, there really wasn't much good other than Fire Pro games on the Super Famicom, a lot of good wrestling games were on the PC Engine in Japan which was a pretty big selling system, not so much for its US version TurboGrafix 16. Also there was Thunder Pro Wrestling Restuden which was the only Fire Pro game released on the Mega Drive/Genesis. I imported a copy cheap and there's no region lock other than a difference in cartridge size that can be dealt with by using a Gameshark or something similar.

It made sense storyline wise for him to be involved in the Taker match, not sure what they'll do with him now since Rollins is occupied and there's no point of wasting a Brock appearance with him of Taker's not around.
  8. I don't want to blockquote Jerry's whole post but as a video game fan as well as a wrestling fan I agree 100%. My first exposure to wrestling was 80s JCP and there were tons of colorful characters that were all completely different. You had evil Russians, charismatic fat guys, wealthy playboys, dastardly villains, musclebound monsters, pretty boys, rednecks, and football players. There was something for everyone, which was an element missing from WWE up until recently.

So the latest WO.com update mentioned Johnny Ace got engaged to the Bellas' mom recently. Was their relationship ever mentioned on Total Divas? I would totally watch that show to see Big Johnny in the role of the confused dad/older male watching all these wacky shenanigans unfold.
  10. They probably did call them that to their face, but black wrestlers really weren't in the position professionally or socially in those days. That's kind of how racism works.
  11. Can't it be both? I'm sure it was the "official" term to describe black people in wrestling at that point in time *and* it was a racist term because most of the people who were responsible for setting the language of the business were racists. Also I don't think Dave is as much condoning the use of it as much as it's similar to how he's kind of thrown his hands up at drug use in the business. He seems to have the same "it is what it is" feeling towards both.
  12. You would think that someone tampering with evidence would reset the clock, because otherwise you're basically rewarding the person who did it. Seems kind of gross that Snuka could go down for this alone when it seems pretty damn apparent it just didn't magically go away in 1985.
  13. I remember a lot of folks saying her losing was dumb, I don't recall anyone claiming she was "ruined". That's not as easy to work into a narrative about whiny fans who won't accept what the company gives them I guess.

It's pretty telling when the main event is the world champion in a match to prove he's as manly as HHH and also defend the title too.

Actually she's a pretty good example of how people coming of age in the world of social media are completely unaware of the concept that there could be consequences to sharing everything. I know this sounds kind of get-off-my-lawn but it's amazing to me what teens and 20 somethings post on their Twitter/Instagrams/whatevers and then are completely shocked if someone lets them know that might not have been acceptable.

I thought it was funny when they showed her and Seth at the NXT show and she looked like it was the last place she wanted to be.
  17. Say what you will about our pal Alvarez, but it seems he was able to successfully engineer a campaign on Twitter to get WWE to address the horrible buffering issues that were plaguing the archive stuff on the network.

Next week's show's should be fine. Folks in Florida don't even get out of bed for anything less than a Category 2 hurricane. I happened to be in Orlando on vacation when a Tropical Storm rolled through and the locals didn't even bat an eye.
  19. They cut out New Day's version of Empire State of Mind from Summerslam on the network.

Not sure why there's the hate for Jericho-Liger. Yeah, it's not going to set the world on fire but they're clearly putting Liger in with guys he can have good matches with on his mini tour of WWE.

All of the NXT women's matches are practiced at the Performance Center, especially before big shows. Dave mentioned it as one of the (many) reasons womens' matches are much better on NXT than in WWE were they don't have as much time for practicing.

I get the impression most if not all the stuff Xavier says at ringside is off the cuff, and is usually great, so that was a welcome thing to see when I read it.
  23. sek69 replied to Strummer's topic in WWE
She's still with them, she wasn't there because she had a match with Eva Marie later on.

I watched NXT last night, and goddamn that was quite the reaction Enzo and Cass got. After the last few years of no one getting over, it was almost surreal hearing anyone get a pop that loud in 2015.

Well someone here listed armchair doctoring as one of their pet peeves, as if you need an MD and several years of practice to say taking head/neck bumps on a regular basis might not be good for you long term.
