  1. I think they started cracking down around election time so Linda's opponents couldn't find any embarrassing clips. They seem to be going after older stuff now, perhaps to create demand for the WWE Network?
  2. I always got the impression Dave just doesn't want to speak ill of the guy because of the circumstances of his death.
  3. It seems easy to see how Brody got over, he had undeniable charisma as someone who came off as a legit crazy man who looked like he would beat anyone's ass in the whole arena. Like Johnny, I first read about him in magazines and then saw him in World Class. After a while, I started to notice this guy who kept being brought in to be an asskicking monster just seemed to have count-out brawls 90% of the time.
  4. I also like how he seems to be going back to his roots and doing planchas out of the ring as a technico now.

They were clearly chanting "We Want Ryder", so yes his goofy LI gimmick would have gotten over with the crowd. Also funny how R-Truth got hurt in the only non Divas match on the card that didn't have a point where it looked like someone could die.
  6. Sadly there's not much to say, Kobashi should have retired years ago and NOAH has been running on E since they lost TV.
  7. Yeah, Afa Jr = Manu. They insist on doing that toss-and-catch Samoan Drop that the Usos do and they damn near kill the guy every time they do it.
  8. So I finally figured out the Samoans who've been on WWC tv the last few weeks were LA Smooth and Afa Jr. If anyone remembers Kokina Maximus before he became Yokozuna, that's what LA Smooth looks like he's heading towards these days.
  9. Feelings are hard to overcome, especially when dealing with a business like pro wrestling that exists just to manipulate said feelings. A section of people believe truly that Sting is a Hall of Famer because he was the face of WCW for a generation of fans. The fact that his run as the top guy was not the best business wise or that the boom time came when others were clearly the top stars just won't sink in. I think Dave's mentions of how it's unlikely anyone from TNA will ever get in the HOF because the company does such little business applies to pre 1996 WCW as well. No one who's bulk of work is mainly in early 90s WCW is going to have a chance. Personally, I've always thought the biggest blow to Sting's career was his knee exploding in 1990 or thereabouts. You got the feeling the Horsemen turning on him was where he was going to get the proverbial rocket up the ass push. The injury scrapped all those, and the rebooking that had to be done in the aftermath really cooled him off when he came back. To me he never really seemed to fit the same way again. He was still Sting, he was still popular, but there never was any real sense he was going to be the clear #1 guy. A similar emotional reaction seems to be surrounding John Cena. There are people who were against him in the HOF because it's too soon. I can at least see the logic in that, but does anyone really think if Cena gets hit by a bus tomorrow his current resume wouldn't be sufficient? What baffles me are the people who seem to legitimately believe he isn't a Hall of Fame level guy because he doesn't do Austin or Hogan numbers. I don't think it's fair to expect a guy working in a different era (and a different business model) to have to equal or surpass the two biggest draws in history to be seen as worthy. I get how the way he's booked more often than not is annoying as hell to anyone over 12 years old, but he's the only guy wrestling in the US (and possibly all of North America) who makes a difference when they are or aren't on a show. Any argument trying to suggest he isn't HOF material don't pass the laugh test.

The only thing I don't like about Cesaro is how it seems like they are forcing the anti America part of his character. I don't know if it's because it seems like a throwback to cliche 80s heel #69791 that Hogan used to dispatch every month, or that it's hard to get really worked up against someone who's Swiss. I mean, they don't fight in any wars and make awesome watches and chocolate.
  11. Didn't the AWA tour in parts of Canada? There's probably a better than average chance he's seen more that just the ESPN TV years.
  12. Jerry Lynn seems to be in the Brad Armstrong category of a guy who was probably not pushed as much as his talent warranted, but not someone you'd look at thinking "man, the companies he worked for really missed the boat with that guy".
  13. Whoever had November as "guess when Jim Cornette is gone from ROH" in the pool, collect your monies.

If Hogan's ego allowed him to turn heel, why not Dusty?
  15. The match with Christian on SD was one of the best matches I've ever seen live.

One thing to consider is that Nikita's rapid not-giving-a-shit stemmed from his wife dying of cancer at the time, so even if he would have stayed a Russian monster heel he would have followed the same path.
  17. http://www.tmz.com/2012/11/20/wwe-diva-kai...peeding-ticket/ Since when to cops roll up to a major event like a WWE show and arrest someone for an outstanding speeding ticket? I'm a person not unaware of the inner workings of the legal system re: speeding laws, and I've never heard of such a thing.
  18. I don't even think it was the DUI, tons of people on the roster have gotten them with little or no punishment. I would wager they are mad that she lied to the cops about her employment and then didn't tell the company about her arrest until after it hit TMZ.
  19. Brodus seems to be falling fast in the eyes of the company. He's largely been reduced to jobber status the last few weeks and you have to think the only reason he's even on TV anymore is because his entrance includes hot chicks dancing.
  20. There is some poor video editor that was very, very happy the day that settlement was reached. It had to be a giant bitch blurring those logos on video with so much movement and so many cuts. I always felt for the poor bastard that got stuck with that job. Yeah, but now they have to blur out anything in the crowd (shirts, signs) that isn't TV-G during Saturday Morning Slam.
  21. One positive that came from them trying to start their own network is they finally reached a settlement with the animal WWF to be allowed to use the initials and the scratch logo again.
  22. The shitfit-throwing on THE BOARD~! over the HOF results has been quite amusing. People are upset that Cena got in, despite he's been the ace of the #1 company in the world for quite a while to the point they live and die based on his presence.
  23. Per Dave on one of the recent WO shows, the guy in charge of sports programming for Showtime is a big boxing nut so the smart money seems to be on him taking what they were spending on MMA and investing it there. What would be interesting is to see what fights they could get lined up. HBO has pretty much owned boxing for the last decade or so, Showtime hasn't had a fighter of any major renown sign a deal with them since Mike Tyson in his prime.
  24. I would assume the major thing that screws the lucha guys is there being practically no footage pre 90s. Unless it's someone still active like Atlantis, there's not much for the lucha hardcores to offer as proof that someone is deserving.
  25. Honestly I would expect Vince to do better even with all his obvious liabilities. Charisma goes a long way in politics, and if he could manage to go a whole campaign without having a Bob Costas moment on an interviewer (a big if, for sure) he'd probably do a lot better than you'd think.
