Man, the nervous tic she was showing in that video was quite worrisome, considering it tends to be a symptom of long term drug use.

I get WWC TV here and he's currently involved in an angle with Carlito who just turned heel. He's like the Puerto Rican Mick Foley now, guy known for violent brawls in the past now the chubby guy who comes out and waves to the crowd for a pop and get beaten up to get heat on whoever the next big heel is supposed to be.

They don't show any moves to the head/neck on the Saturday morning show.

Dave Meltzer stuff
So they're going to be riffing off of the replacement ref issue in the NFL now with the Brad Maddox deal. Over/under on how many times Bryan needs this explained for him considering he's the king of "HEY GUYS DID I EVER TELL YOU I DON'T WATCH ANYTHING ON TV EXCEPT WRESTLING AND MMA?" . I'm guessing at least two, since Dave seems to be a fan (or at least is aware of what goes on) and Vinny's day job is a football writer.

That reminded me of a great moment on the MLW podcast where Court Bauer was going on about booking old guys like Terry Funk and Abdullah who were really too broken down to be still working, seemingly forgetting for a moment his co-host is Konnan. Court related a story of seeing Terry Funk work a match then barely be able to move in the locker room, saying it's hard to book guys who don't listen to their body telling them to stop, finishing up with "isn't that right, Konnan?" It was Tim & Eric level uncomfortable comedy. Also the bio was one of the most hilarious things ever written. Sims has been friends with him for what seems to be a long time now, yet he still comes off like a guy in awe he's pals with someone famous.

Shane's first big promo was so bad. Not in the delivery or anything he did wrong, but it made him come off as a spoiled whiny bitch. "I was never good enough for you, dad!" kind of loses it's zip when the guy saying it was portrayed as someone who had enough pull in the company to hire Austin back over Vince's head.

WWE On Demand's History of RAW show is right at the build up for Survivor Series and the title tourney now. The angles are still strong, but you can already see the trends of what was to come starting to show. Every week is full of non finishes, and when they were building the "Kane and Taker are pissed at Vince" angle there was a while show of non finishes. What's amazing is if I'm remembering the time frame correctly (which can be hard in this era), the tournament leads into Mankind winning the title a few months later in the "that'll put asses in the seats" match. It's amazing that the tippling point of the Monday Night Wars happened right when Raw started to get comically bad. I guess it speaks volumes to what WCW was offering that they couldn't beat them again.

I lol'd at CM Punk asking on Twitter if "Belzer" has reviewed his DVD yet and if so how many stars it got.

What bothered me most was not only were they mocking a guy's handicap, but they were putting one of JR's real life friends in the angle too (Dr. Death). To this day JR still gets asked on Twitter if it bothered him that he was part of that angle.

WON HoF Candidate Poll Thread
Dave absolutely buried him, saying there's no proof he had any impact on viewership and he wouldn't vote for him. Having said that, he said he wouldn't vote for anyone in the UK due to not having a lot of knowledge on the territory. Anyone hoping for a Dave Bump will be sorely disappointed.

Linda McMahon for Senate catch-all thread
Her campaign is very WWE-like in its hubris. She blatantly misquoted a journallist on one of her flyers, and when the journalist complained and demanded a retraction they basically told her tough shit. Also the deal with WWE pulling Attitude Era stuff off YouTube to keep Linda's enemies from having easy access to ammo against her makes me wonder how is that not breaking the rules that state a company can't assist a candidate like that? One is clearly helping the other here.

Jerry Lawler in serious condition
To be fair, I remember even watching it at the time that Hunter's part came off kind of forced but I figured "hey, even if he's an asshole and fucked with the dude he still watched the guy die so unless he's a complete monster that'll mess you up a little bit".

Jerry Lawler in serious condition
I wonder what WWE does from here, even if Lawler makes a full recovery he's going to be out for a long time it seems. They don't seem to trust someone like Matt Striker or Josh Matthews for more than one segment at a time on the A show. As much as it would improve things, it would suck if this is what drove them to put JR back on full time at least for a little while.

Jerry Lawler in serious condition
Dave confirmed not only was it a heart attack, but the EMTs most likely saved his life at ringside/backstage. You never wish for this to happen, but if it has to, it's better that it occurs at an event where there's a full complement of trained professionals on hand seconds away.

Jerry Lawler in serious condition
I was unfortunate enough to have a co worker have a heart attack near me and need to be taken out by paramedics, and the sounds he made were similar to what Lawler was making. Certainly hope everything works out as well for Jerry as it did for my friend (he came back to work after a couple of months). Also, kudos to Michael Cole. He gets a lot of shit, but he held things together like a true professional despite being noticeably shaken up.

Funny thing about that is Bryan trying to get WWE accepted levels of tan only accentuated whatever skin pigment issue he has and makes the lighter toned blotches he has way more noticeable. I never even knew he had it when he was in ROH, and now he looks like has whatever Michael Jackson had.

The only deficiency sunblock could possibly cause would be Vitamin D since your body produces it naturally when exposed to sunlight. I'm sure he takes his Flintstone Chewables to prevent that. Also you have to remember most of the roster uses so much spray tan they end up looking as if they were basted in BBQ sauce. Someone naturally pale is going to look 100x whiter in that environment.

As someone of Irish descent, I assure you no make up is needed to make us look that white.

A Couple Late WCW Questions from 2001
Wasn't the Bischoff deal with Fusient based on WCW still having their TV slots? I seem to recall the reason Vince was able to swoop in and get everything cheap was that losing the TV slots killed any chance Eric had, and like Loss stated it made it toxic for anyone else to buy it with zero TV time.

"He's ambitiously stupid" - Why Scott Keith's new book is scary bad
Well he did fail a Wellness test, so it's not like he was just making shit up about the guy.

Tonight's RAW
By the way, that's brilliant and I'm ripping it off. I got my producer for WHATAMANOOVER! working on an audio mash-up of Kane and Costanza. And crowd aside, how cool was it that Punk was yelling "I'M the King of Memphis, Tennessee!!" ? You could totally tell that he was having a blast. Another missed announcer opportunity, I think. They mentioned Punk tweeting that he "did it for Andy Kaufman" when he kicked Lawler in the head, and when he sang Andy's song the only mention was Josh pointing out he was complaining about being disrespected but he was doing it himself now. (skip to about 0.52 to see the original version)

Tonight's RAW
He's not universally loved, but he's pretty much the only guy who gets any kind of emotional reaction from the crowd. Even if it's a negative one.

Tonight's RAW
The tweener gimmick just doesn't work anymore. Like SLL said, if you don't make it clear if you're supposed to boo or cheer a guy most of the crowd reacts with nothing. Also I wonder with JR gone does that mean Lawler is the new "beloved figure who gets beat up to cement someone's heel turn" guy?

Tonight's RAW
The match was fine, but it just reminded me how much better they're booking Cesaro as the US champ and he's involved in an angle with a guy using a cobra puppet as a euphemism for his dick.

Tonight's RAW
Kane recapping his entire WWE career in the most matter-of-factly way possible was one of the best things they've done in a long time.
