  1. Considering how every one of those seems beset by technical difficulties, I don't think even the folks who watched it were able to watch it.
  2. So according to Tuesday's daily Herb update, WWE is mad at Melina. Did she do something to warrant it or is this another case of Vince pulling a Monty Burns "cut those sideburns" routine?
  3. So I wonder if/when the Democrats will unleash their secret weapon of dirty McMahon laundry.
  4. Road Wild was definitely important to him, as it was an excuse to go to Sturgis on the company dime. Who can forget the hilarity of Harlem Heat trying to be babyfaces to a crowd of bikers?
  5. If I was Mike Rotunda, I'd be hitting the gym like a madman getting ready for the return of I.R.S. as generic evil government type.
  6. Lawler hates him for some reason, but I guess Stryker figured out if you don't stand up for yourself you get a rep for being a pussy. Either way it's pretty funny to hear them shoot on each other every month on PPV.
  7. Back when Dave was concerned that Saturn was either missing or dead, one of his readers did some internet sleuthing and found his Facebook page. Before it was locked down, Dave mentioned the photos he saw look like the Saturn you'd remember from wrestling only fatter.
  8. I'm not a guy who is harsh on WWE PPVs, but other than the opener Bragging Rights was not a good WWE PPV.
  9. Vince is all in an uproar that asking voters to remove WWE shirts is violating their freedom of speech (despite the first amendment being about Congress making no law, but whatevs), yet they do the exact same thing by confiscating signs at wrestling shows. The point being that Vince is entirely full of shit when he tries to act like a modern day Larry Flynt free-speech activist.
  10. WO is all over Vince whining about this when the company routinely confiscates signs at the door at most WWE events.
  11. To Jingus' question on why some guys never seem to do any meaningful jobs: I always felt the dog-eat-dog nature of the business kind of demanded that kind of mindset from guys on top. The moment you start putting guys over, you start to lose a little something with the fans unless you're one of the rare few like Rock or Flair where losing didn't really hurt them after a while. Guys are paranoid that losing a match on a big show could be the first step to endeavorland. Also re: so many non finishes in WCW at the time, that was the point where the booking was more geared toward placating wrestlers than pleasing the fans/making a sensible product. There was a point in WCW where practically no one other than jobbers or low midcard guys ever did a clean job.
  12. I think art is referring to Nash no showing a PPV claiming he had heart issues (I remember at one point it was reported he had a heart attack), only for them to magically clear up after the show was over. I don't recall the interview where Nash said it was due to a bad trip, but considering the two guys he hangs out with the most I'd believe it was possible.
  13. So I guess to keep with his analogy, the nWo hot air balloon must have run out of gas since WCW was never allowed to fully come back on them.
  14. My understanding is that NBC took the majority of the lumps for the XFL, all things considered WWE probably lost more money on stuff like their restaurant closing (which if my memory of WON back issues is correct, wiped out most of what would have been their highest profit year).
  15. Not that baseball talk isn't fun, but to steer this back to WO topix: have they announced plans for another entry in their shoot video series? Considering they picked the worst possible guy for the first one, I wonder what the sales ended up.
  16. That makes sense, I wondered why Vince/WWE was all of a sudden so hellbent on "correcting the misinformation" reported about them. I wonder what political people consider as the real bad stuff. I'm hoping it leads to stories about Vince having coke-fueled orgies or some other outlandish behavior that would be entirely expected of him. Of course, knowing how it usually ends when Democrats try to go on the attack it will probably be some Earth shattering development like "our research shows the Doink character may have been played by more than one person. WHAT IS LINDA TRYING TO HIDE FROM AMERICA???"
  17. It probably shouldn't be undersold that Tyson was/is a huge fan and actually enjoyed doing the stuff he did rather than looking like the usual celeb just there for a paycheck and/or plug their latest work.
  18. So apparently TNA can pay J-Woww from Jersey Shore $15,000 for a one time appearance but they can't pay the women on the roster enough to not need part time jobs? At this point anyone working for this company not Sting/Hogan/Nash is a god damned idiot.
  19. The Daniel Bryan/Sheamus match last night made me wonder which WWE quirk was taking place: beating up a guy who's more over than the company was anticipating, or jobbing a guy in his hometown? I never understood the enjoyment the company gets out of making point of mentioning that a guy is wrestling in front of his hometown crowd, and then have him lose almost every time.

Also Bash '91 only furthered that Lex was a choke artist since he only finally won after Flair left and it was seen as a consolation prize.
  21. I think it would be great if they did a Bourne Again style gimmick with him and had Young going around wearing jorts and like 12 armbands on each arm thinking he's really Cena.

I think it comes from all the times he challenged Flair in the NWA and never won the belt, and now here he is in the WWF challenging for the belt and again coming up short. Looking at it with 2010 eyes where everyone trades wins weekly and belts don't matter, yes it looks silly. In 1993 it made a lot of people think he was a guy who would never win the big one. Plus the whole deal with the balloons and confetti falling from the sky to celebrate a count-out win was so odd, it kind of made him look like a goof for being so excited over an empty win.
  23. I hope Cena goes full heel soon, because if he just ends up free of Nexus it's just teaching the fans to not get into anything potentially interesting because things will just go back to how they were before in a couple of weeks. Also it would be hilarious seeing people do a 180 re: their opinion of Cena once he isn't forced to do those stupid forced-funny babyface promos.
  24. I was referring to the idea that somehow Muta was forced to have Gary Hart as his manager as the angle that was mostly invented by the magazines.
  25. He's not being a wimp, if he doesn't do what Nexus (or specifically Wade Barrett) tell him to do the Anonymous GM will fire him. Being in the WWE means so much to Cena he's sucking it up and doing what he's told even though you can see he doesn't want to.
