RAW tonight
I think the "WWE Universe" broke Twitter, it's been coming up with a system overload message for the last hour or so.

I hate to sound like Dave, but it seemed pretty clear that "Daniel Bryan" is gone and they're probably going to bring him back under his real name. Just the fact that they mentioned the name of someone who was endeavored (which to my knowledge they've never done), makes it seem that's the plan. If it was a shoot firing they'd have found some way to bury him on the way out without mentioning his name. Maybe since they planted the seeds of him having a change of heart, he'll end up joining the WWE side and be the hero.

Everyone keeps saying all the stories are coming from Jake, but didn't Robin also tell stories about her father too?

Also my biggest point of contention with the whole "it's a work" thing is that for it to be a work, people on the business side of the company would need to have been worked too. Only when you deal with the business side, it stops being a work and starts becoming "lying to people". They have legitimate business people on that side of things, not old carnies who are always trying to wizork the mizarks.

He got fired because someone they have a fat contract with (probably Mattel) saw it and complained. It was viewed as an act kids could imitate and they have to stay PG.

I think it's funny that Dave seems to be going all-in with "it's a work" almost entirely based on the idea that Cena's too much of a suckup to be posting those tweets without being told to. I mean, he may be 100% spot on when it's all said and done, but he's coming off as someone who really wants to believe he's right rather than someone who knows he's right.

20 Years Ago - WON 08/29/88
Wasn't the whole Ron Garvin deal supposedly him having a disagreement with Dusty? Especially since he was written out by getting beat so bad he was out of wrestling forever?

Except Dixie only mentioned a million times on Twitter that the big surprise wasn't happening on the PPV, but Dave was too busy kicking his dog over Daniel Bryan to notice.

You know the move you just made was some bullshit when the guy who's probably biggest company man WWE ever had just calls you out on it.

I don't know if it was an official policy, but they were wary of any choking type moves post-Benoit.

I think at this point it's clear it had to be someone from Mattel that complained, their deal is the reason WWE is PG rated now (not Linda's campaign like everyone seems to think) and I think WWE is getting enough money from them now that they have to jump if someone gets offended. I mean, if you were a top level suit a a toy company would you like to see the business you just signed a huge deal with show simulated strangulation when you were promised a product you can market to kids? I mean, it wasn't even like the usual wrestling "strangle" where one guy has his arms across the ropes or the hold is worked loose enough you can see daylight. I know he's not a wrestler but Roberts should have been clued in enough to at least attempt to get his hands under the tie to at least give the visual impression you aren't about to see a dude get legit strangled.

Grizzly's first marriage produced Jake and Jocelyn (I think that was her name) who is the sister who was murdered, his second marriage produced Robin and Mike (Sam Houston). Grizzly being involved in the murder seems to be one of those things everyone seems to either believe or at least thinks is possible, so who knows. Jake wanting to be a success in wrestling just to throw it in his father's face is an interesting story all by itself as well.

Ridiculous quotes from WO.com columnists
Someone should point out how WWE it is of them to continue to push a guy who their audience is rejecting. If nothing else it would probably lead to a nice meltdown by Bryan.

ESPN is not known for its stringent hiring process, I'll say that much.

Well of course Todd Martin is unimpressed. He'd rather be the middle part of a Human Centipede than admit WWE ever does anything half decent.

CM Punk was one of the "Pros", so it still works with him. Actually looking at who the choices were, it would have worked no matter who won. You have the top babyface of the company vs either the #2 face, the World Champion, or one of the NXT Pros. You could make a case for them wanting to beat up any of them.

I think that's why it's smart to put them in a group. Individually they wouldn't have a prayer of getting over (well a few would, but most wouldn't or at best get their legs cut off), but as a united group beating down established guys they can get something going. By beating up Cena and Punk (not to mention anyone else in the ringside area) they had the same "us vs them" vibe the nWo had in the early days where the heels and faces in WCW had a common enemy. I also get not having faith in WWE to follow through on this, but remember all these guys have been in developmental for a while and as such have already passed the "can he work" test for the most part. These are also guys WWE can take credit for creating so there won't be what happened with the Invasion angle where they wouldn't put anyone over who wasn't made by them.

Well, that was certainly quite the angle to end the show (don't wanna spoil for west coast people).

Dave Meltzer stuff
Well, OK maybe saying he saved well was a bad choice of words. Hogan clearly didn't go around eating fish out of a tin can like Brody, but he also didn't take every opportunity to squander his money like Flair did.

Flair was never good with money, by all accounts Hogan saved well and was set for life until the shit really started hitting the fan.

CM Punk wearing a mask to hide his baldness is funny enough, even more so that his beard sticking out makes him look like Delirious.

Also the Sheamus/Henry match reminded me how fun it was to see Charles Robinson sell someone's finisher almost better than the person taking it.

More Todd Martin related hilarity: I know he takes pride in not knowing about anything that took place in the 80s, but has he never seen a Samoan in the WWF/E before? Hell, did he forget about Umaga already? The Usos are pretty similar looks-wise to their uncle's gimmick.

Dave Meltzer stuff
I think it was one of SKeith's rare funny bits where he mentioned the irony of Bret getting a USA chant in a match against Yokozuna.

So Hart Dynasty vs Legacy: Polynesian Version seems like it could be fun considering the latter has got rave reviews in FCW.
