Austin is supposedly in shape for a movie he is doing, so that wouldn't be an issue as much as him not being active in wrestling for so long. It seems that they were seeding the idea of Lawler vs Jericho from the way he was so disgusted at Piper getting beat up on RAW. It wouldn't have the celebrity rub that they wanted from Rourke, but it would be a much better match (assuming they don't make Lawler work "WWE Legend style" where they get pummeled by a youngster until getting a fluke win). I think they (as usual) stumbled into something great with the HHH/Orton angle, since just as no one bought the HBK/JBL storyline because it was too ridiculous to be true, here you have something based in reality. Looking back, you can see how they sort of were planning for this angle for a while, Steph hasn't been physically involved since coming back and they always are doing something to subtly remind folks she's a mom now. Of course everyone knew of the marriage for a while, but when Steph gets laid out by a heel, suddenly there's a real sense of "oh shit, he just nailed the mother of HHH's kids". Also I think you have to give credit to HHH for not going overboard with this. His mugging as a face sometimes gets annoying to the point of distraction, but he's playing this perfectly as a guy who just watched his wife get attacked. The sitdown with JR on Smackdown (do those ever fail to get people/angles over?) where he was too mad to even speak was a thing of awesomeness.

Fact is, there was nothing that really pointed in Christian's direction, everything leads to Matt Hardy and it has since November, and people were even calling it as early as November. Grimmas: The Survivor Series spot was botched I admit, but I think that it could easily be seen as Matt attacking a guy, who tortued him weeks before the S. Series, and then beat him that night. Or in short it was a fuck up by creative, which happens in almost every storyline in the company. The number one thing I can point to that makes Matt being the guy from the start seem wrong is how despite him being cheered while being jobbed out prior to his ECW push, his first promo after turning heel was how the fans never liked him as much as Jeff or whatnot which is so amazingly dumb you can't possibly believe it wasn't something thought up minutes before the show. Does anyone really buy Matt as a heel wronged by the fans when he was getting pretty loud reactions even when it was clear they had no interest in pushing him?

It seems pretty clear that they just flipped the script when they felt too many people knew what was going on since Christian is now in the exact same role Matt was in prior to his heel turn. Also, why do people think Dave just thinks these things up himself and isn't being told things by his connections in the company. I really don't see how this can be deemed as someone's overactive imagination when it seems pretty clear they just swapped them out.

Because the whole "mystery attacker" angle really started ramping up around the time that Christian's TNA deal expired, and that Dave was told that Matt was put into the role at the last minute because Vince was pissed everyone already guessed it was going to be Christian revealed as the attacker. See also the "We Want Christian" chants at the Rumble, I don't think everyone in the arena was a WON subscriber.

Considering MyNetworkTV just basically went tits up, it might have been the smart move putting him on the brand who's show airs on the more stable network.

I doubt a Savage DVD ever sees the light of day, but they've never shown any reluctance to include individual matches of his on other sets. It seems as if every year someone tries to slip a Savage set past Vince, and every year they get closer to pulling it off, but he always catches it at the last minute. I have this mental image of Ricky Steamboat trying to engage Vince in conversation while the DVD guys feverishly rush to have like Shane or someone approve the set instead.

Scooter playing the "too cool for school" card in regards to current wrestling while reviewing pretty much everything on WWE 24/7 is being slept on big time. Not only was Lex pushed as someone the fans would think is the next world champion but never won the big one, when they finally did put the belt on him it was at Bash 1991 which was guaranteed to turn any remaining fans against him. I often felt that was kind of a set up on Lex, they had to know the crowd was going to take a giant shit on whatever they tried to do so why risk killing a guy who still had a chance to be a top player? None of what you list could be determed a "mistake" though. I know as far as "How would a fading 80s relic get booked in all the Northeastern smark federations" goes, the scenes with Randy doing hardcore matches reminded me a lot of Terry Funk in ECW. Also Randy's big historical match was told as being in 1989 and there's a lot of guys from that time period puttering around on the indies now. What strikes me the most is that of all the wrestlers who've posted their reviews on the internet so far, the only thing most of them take issue with is the open drug dealing, which seemed to be more of the director showing the audience that drug use is common rather than something intended to be an accurate portrayal of the wrestling drug scene.

Of course none of that is remotely true, since Dynamite was dealing with the back injury at that time and a five minute search on Graham Cawthon's site informs you that Mr. Fuji was subbing for Kamala that night. What's especially sloppy about that is A. Scooter's a fan of all things Hart and or Stampede related so surely he knew why Dynamite wasn't there and B. He's pimped Graham's site before so he's clearly aware of it's existence and how simple it would have been to find out who Fuji was subbing for (as I did when I was watching and wondered who was supposed to be in that match).
