WON awards front-runners for the first half of the year
I know, but I get the feeling he's going to get pushed hard for it. If it was Fighter of the Year or Awesomest Dude of the Year, I'd have no problem with it.

Which is ridiculous, considering he's a MMA-ist and not a wrestler.

Was the fast-count-that-wasn't at Starrcade 97 a legit screwup or something more nefarious? I always heard Hogan somehow got to Nick Patrick and convinced him not to do it, which sounds like BS but then crazier stuff was going on in WCW. Also it doesn't seem like someone like Nick would screw up the most important part of the match and make everyone involved look like a choad.

The WON HOF 2007 thread
Yeah but wrestling retirements aren't permanent unless brought about by death. Also, and I'm not saying it's incorrect, but why is Moolah always discounted as a "no" vote with no explanation given? I would think given the lowered standards of US women's wrestling she'd be a lock but it's not like the world is a lesser place if she never gets voted in. Just wondering why she gets the automatic dismissal all the time.

Congress requests WWE drug testing records
They found her for RAW the next night too. That still ranks up there with one of the most disgusting moments in wrestling history for me.

The WON HOF 2007 thread
I seriously didn't know the Steiners were thought of by anyone as anything more than guys who stiffed a lot of dudes and had a run in New Japan when WCW was sending a lot of talent over there. I never realized there was a sense of the Steiners being thought of as HOF-worthy in any non-ironic sense. I mean, they had some good matches, but c'mon. Scott had a much better career as a singles worker and no one would suggest he's HOF worthy.

Format of future DVDs
Just wanted to say I like this format, it worked really well for the first disc and I was hoping it would stick around.

Congress requests WWE drug testing records
I would think if anything it would have changed to more privacy, like how Florida changed who can access autopsy records after Dale Earnhardt's death.

WON awards front-runners for the first half of the year
Honestly, there's probably at least a hundred Randy Ortons on every major college campus. He's the wrestling equivalent of that buddy of yours that turns every night out with the boys into Animal House: The Home Game. If his dad and grandpa weren't famous rasslers, he'd probably be another frat boy goof posting videos on YouTube of him teabagging his rommates.

The Benoit family tragedy examined from all angles
My bad, got my mark doctors confused. Still, don't get the guy who's already got caught with his hand in the cookie jar to go on TV and deny up a storm. I can almost hear Vince's defense.... "The man in those documents had the initials "O.G." so clearly it wasn't REY MYSTERIO! Completely different person!"

The Benoit family tragedy examined from all angles
Rey Mysterio went on Fox News and repeatedly deny using steroids, saying his only connection to Dr. Astin was for pain meds after his knee surgeries. Considering it's already been made public that Astin was prescribing steroids for Rey, WWE really needs to stop trying to kayfabe the real world.

The WON HOF 2007 thread
It's maddening that people like Mitchell have votes for the HOF when they clearly demonstrate how up their own ass they can be when it comes to their rationale. Seriously, if you don't think the RnR's are HOF-worthy you really shouldn't be given the power to vote.

WWE 24/7 July-September 2007 Thread
Watching Nitro made me wonder: Is it considered a break of kayfabe in Mexico when someone wrestles out of gimmick and maskless? I mean, it would seem anyone remotely familiar with Lucha would realize "Rey Mendoza, Jr" is a maskless Villano (the "IV" on his singlet is kind of a giveaway too).

What's worse is they seem to be purposely goading him into a mental breakdown.

The WON HOF 2007 thread
The more I hear people debate this, the more I think that the WON HOF has ridiculously high standards. After you get past the Austin/Hogan/Flair/Rock level, you can pretty much make a case against anyone else. The criteria is just vague enough that anyone who doesn't make the cut has enough doubt so you can't really call anyone out on it. Hell, at least with the WWE HOF you know the criteria is "whoever the hell Vince wants in" so you know who has a chance and who doesn't.

According to the Smackdown spoilers making the rounds, Chris Masters again gets berated for being small (he shows a pic of himself as a teenager to convince Vince he could be his son and Vince's reply was "you sure had a scrawny neck then"). Wasn't Masters the one who got all fucked up mentally after getting small from cycling off roids?

Interesting blind item in the latest WON
I got the impression that they just didn't want it in the news that there was a WWE superstar with a medical problem when all the Benoit news hit the fan and the company was on the defensive on how they take care of their wrestlers. Plus it was stated the problem was under control with medication and that's usually not the case with the typical side effects of steriod/drug abuse.

WWE 24/7 July-September 2007 Thread
Seems like that was it, there's a couple parts in the show that abruptly cut out like that. I've never seen it happen on a NWA episode before, Turner seemed to take such care of their tape library. Still, you gotta love how in the middle of what's essentially the go-home show for Starrcade they have an all-jobber six man tag team match.

WWE 24/7 July-September 2007 Thread
In the latest NWA episode, there's a pretty obvious edit where they cut off Tony and David mid-sentence during the opening segment and go right to a Terry Taylor squash match. They then begin to talk about a Superstar Graham interview that apparently was what got cut out. Why would they cut something so random? Did he threaten to kill Paul Jones' wife and kids?

The WON HOF 2007 thread
Random thought: Between the runs as Masked Superstar and Ax from Demolition, couldn't there be a case made for Bill Eadie? He was a pretty good draw as the Superstar, and even though Demolition started off as a Road Warriors rip off, they ended up being the longest reigning WWF tag champions ever.

I was actually somewhat impressed that Arn was able to remember the kayfabe reason for Ole getting kicked out.

Interesting blind item in the latest WON
In talking about MVP's heart condition, Dave mentions one of WWE's biggest stars has a medical condition that the company wanted to keep under wraps due to the timing of when they found out (right in the middle of all the Benoit stuff) and the gimmick of said star. It's apparently nothing serious as it's being controlled by medication, but the only top guy I can think of who's that protective of his gimmick is Taker, since you can't have it get out that the undead monster has a very human medical problem. Maybe he got hep from Cowboy Bob after all?

WON awards front-runners for the first half of the year
Call me crazy, but I think WWE could pull off a Cena-Kennedy double turn if they really put their minds to it. I know Kennedy's the guy all the cool kids are hating, but I watched him come up through OVW and there's something there if WWE decides to go balls-out with him.
