  1. Not that Hansen wasn't awesome, but his punches and clotheslines looked good because he was legit clobbering people half the time since he was close to blind without his glasses on.
  2. Bah. You can go to Luchawiki and search for their bios and see the pics there. Suffice it to say all three Mysterii have the same general mask style so it's not as if Hijo is trying to ape his cousin.
  3. Was Bischoff telling him what to say in WCW? Cause I liked the scholarly-if-kinda-molester-looking Tenay from WCW educating the masses on all the cool Lucha dudes who were jobbing on Nitro that week. The problem with TNA Tenay is that announcing teams always have one guy who's levelheaded and one guy who's yelling and screaming. Tenay seems like he's trying to outscream everyone else and when he's sitting next to Don West that is just not going to happen at all. Ironically I like West as the David Crockett on 15 cups of coffee. He clearly likes his job and you can't help but to get into the action a little bit more when DW is marking out like a 5 year old.
  4. Meltz in the WON: So I guess that means Dave or one of his minions lurks either here or at DVDVR?
  5. I think it's just the Mysterio family mask style. When Sr. was still masked it was the same style as well. Rey Sr masked: The Family Mysterio:
  6. One thing you have to hand to TNA, they have the best looking title belts right now. ROH's look like someone copied the Watts' UWF belt for their backyard fed.
  7. They probably just offered the same plan anyone could buy directly from a HMO. Being a pro wrestler would put those kind of plans out of the reach of anyone working for TNA except for the upper main eventers.
  8. To me, I just can't buy into Morishima as champ. Try as they might to get him over, all I see is a guy who looks like a fat Japanese girl. He looks like someone the WWF would have jobbing on a MSG show in the 80s. ROH just hasn't done a good job replacing all the talent they lost IMO. I just don't get all that jazzed to see random dudes who are practically interchangeable. TNA I think is just a matter of people realizing it is what it is and at this point is never going to be anything more. They're the current generation's version of the late 80s AWA only with slightly better booking.
  9. Also it was a good example of how Terry Funk makes everyone he faces look like a million bucks. Sure, Terry's faced some of the best ever but he's also had some less-than-stellar opponents and he's made them all look like champions.
  10. One could argue the point that Sherri's death got more attention than Bad News, who didn't even merit an on screen graphic. Hell, having the announcers mention it rather than just having the graphic put it above any non Owen/Pillman/Eddy death.
  11. All I have to say is Don Kernodle's 80s-homemade-style shirt might be the greatest thing on the whole DVD. We need more of that in wrestling. Makes me wonder why he seemingly fell off the face of the planet after 1986 or so.
  12. I admit, when I saw this on the listing I was like "WTF is this, and why its it on here?" but once I watched it I instantly remembered it and how awesome it was. It's easy to forget how subtle JR could be in selling indignity, or anything else, without his usual 100 decibel style he does on RAW now.
  13. You know, I'm thinking it's probably not a good idea to allow people who get that easily worked to buy stocks. Also, wouldn't these people upset about Vince being possibly dead having an effect on stock price also worry about the Chairman of the company acting crazy and doing a power walk while wearing electric pink zoot suits?
  14. From WO.com:
  15. I'd argue Killings would have the best case anyone could have, didn't he get hurt in a TNA ring only to have them basically tell him to fuck off when it came to helping pay his medical bills?
  16. Hearing the song in a commercial started my brain to wonder how funny/awesome would it be if when HHH makes his grand return the first thing you hear is the strains of "Ode to Joy" as he comes out in full 1995 blueblood snob gimmick. I mean, he's already went back to being DX Hunter, why not go back two more years in the time machine?
  17. Maybe after the first shot, but by 8 or so I'm sure he wasn't even sure what zip code he was in let alone knew he should stay down.
  18. When talking about uncharacteristically unsafe behavior, let's not forget Rock turning what was supposed to be just a few chair shots on an unprotected Mick Foley into like 11, causing legit heat between the two for a while (and probably legit scrambling Foley's brain in the process).
  19. Upon reading WONs from 1991, Dave was really mad at the Sgt. Slaughter Iraq angle. To the point where the 2-4-91 WON was a Very Special Issue devoted entirely to his feelings on the subject.
  20. The ones you listed would be understandable due to footage ownership issues, but pretty much all of the Steiners' best moments were in WCW and WWF which would seem to be a logical inclusion just because it would be easier for them.
  21. It was all over the local news in Dallas that Fritz had a heart attack, and his condition would worsen or improve based on the gate that week. Also, this gives WWE the chance to copy one of World Class's most infamous moments when they reported on the real death of Gino Hernandez and the worked blinding of Chris Adams as equal tragedies. I can't wait to hear JR tell us about the two losses WWE has suffered in the last week.
  22. Excellent find. As I recall they did the 10 bell salute for him as well.
  23. I have to admit I didn't think about it when I watched the DVD, but it was pointed out that the Steiners were a pretty notable omission from the set. Bad feelings from the Scott vs HHH debacle still lingering? I mean they were arguably one of the best teams in the world before Scott completely exploded, they even provided (IMO) the one match that saved WM IX from being a complete mess.
  24. Also, Loss I c/p'd your post over on the DVDR Smackdown thread where people were bitching that they were making light of the sacred Tribute Shows with the Vince stuff. Your take was pretty much perfection so I shared it with the class.
