WWE doesn't want their SUPERSTARS in the same ring as TNA Stars, as the whole Punk hoo-ha taught us.
  2. If Marty could have kept off the drugs, he probably would have had a job in WWE still since everyone was raving about his match with Angle. As it was, he got busted (again) soon after and got released.
  3. He's lost the weight he had the last time he made a cameo on TV, and he seemed to be decent in the matches I saw of his on Velocity. I don't think he's horrible, and considering how depleted SD is right now he'll be fine in a midcard role. Better him than another not-ready-for-primetime callup. I think we'll all be begging for more Tatanka matches when Giant Singh starts.
  4. Meltz was speculating that since there is still lots of time before Mania, Rey might win tonight.
  5. The only episodes I saw involved Hogan acting like Tough Dad toward some guy Brooke was going out with (what made it funny is the guy wasn't selling it and was cracking up when Hulk was trying to be tough for the camera) and one where his wife found a condom in Nick's room and proceeded to freak the fuck out in such an overdramatic way it was less believable than a SPORTZ ENTERTAINMENT segment of RAW.
  6. Dan Maff allegedly had relations with Homicide's sister (or cousin, depending on which story you hear) who was underage. I don't know if she was 14 or 17 and 7/8ths but it resulted in Homicide telling promoters he won't work for them if they use Maff.
  7. All of this makes me want to throw up, but especially the Hector quote.
  8. Didn't WWE want to sign Joe because they thought he could be the heel they tried to make Rikishi into? I think that's all he needed to hear.
  9. I think Hogan has been in the bubble of wrestling for so long it's almost a reflex for him to work everything in his life. He's like a real life Tommy Flanagan from 80s SNL. "I was afraid Andre wouldn't do the job at WM 3 and shoot on me....yeah, that's the ticket"
  10. Was Mel Phillips that black ring announcer who always seemed to be at the Spectrum shows? Since most of my 80s WWF came from watching Prime Time (where they'd go to the match after the introductions most of the time) I have no recollection of that name growing up watching WWF TV, and the only thing I could find via Google was a refrence to some angle where Dory Funk beat him up for wearing his cowboy hat and it was described as racist.
  11. I'm not a big Hogan fan by any means, but I gotta say the pop he got for hulking up at Wrestlemania 18 was one of the largest I've ever heard. You can say it's just nostalgia but he apparently can still get a buyrate, as his SummerSlam match proved.
  12. I'd bet no one in WWE knows what Straight Edge is, and they look at Punk and see all his tats and assume he's some sort of drinking/drugging miscreant who's only going to lead Maria down the road to Sunnyville.
  13. More The whole Punk deal is such a hilarious clusterfuck. I bet it all boils down to people being mad he's banging Maria.
  14. I'd be skeptical of anything Billy says, to be honest. I think part of his WWE Legends deal was to accept Vince as his personal savior. I didn't read the book, but just the part on his DVD where he said that the steroid trial came from stuff he made up was completely asinine, considering Vince was all but convicted had the feds handled the case properly. I don't know if he is paying his medical bills or what, but Superstar has completely thrown himself in front of the train for Vince. Besides, didn't the allegations involving Patterson come from the kid himself?
  15. You know, it sounds asinine at first, but I kind of agree in the sense that Styles and Daniels have the best matches against each other. Styles and Daniels aren't Steamboat and Flair by a long shot, but the two of them together seem to produce some real good professional wrestling.
  16. I'm listening to the Highspots shoot he did in 2004, and it's probably the greatest education you can get about the wrestling business. He's so straightforward to the point where he almost comes off mean, until you realize what he says is absolutely right. His greatest line is something Gorilla told him, if you're in the business for anything but making money you're an idiot. The surprising thing is he thinks the wrestling business is done in terms of being hugely popular, since the business is so open, people aren't going to pay money when they know how the tricks are done.
  17. I'm sure he doesn't know about it, but it's just sloppy of the WWE. Normally that wouldn't be shocking, but their home video department is usually more on the ball.
  18. Got the Brock DVD from Netflix today, I put it in my DVD-Rom drive to watch it on my PC. I happened to have Windows Explorer open and I saw that the Disc ID (the label that shows up next to the drive letter) is WWE_BROCK_LESNER. Oof. Pretty sad when they release a DVD of a former WWE champion and botch the spelling of his name.
  19. Someone ran afoul of the WWE despite the fact that they had permission to sell the footage they were dealing in. Meltz speculated that WWE is going to try to go after anyone who sells footage that contains anyone under a WWE Legends contract, which would be pretty much any footage you come across. What's sad is despite the fact that doing that isn't even close to legal, eBay will never stand up for its users because they probably think all wrestling = WWE.
  20. Really??? I could've sworn my copy of Anthology had Real American for Hogan's WM19 theme. Interesting. I have the commercial release of WM 19. It must me funny if they replaced that song, since Hulk does a whole pantomime act to the words after the match (pointing to Vince when it says "standing next to a mountain", then doing a chopping motion to "chopped it down with tbe back of my hand").
  21. I just popped in WM 19, and on it they have Hogan coming out to Voodoo Chile.
  22. Some generic rock music. Scott Hall came out to it too in his match with Austin. How can they not have the rights to the nWo theme? Didn't they buy that with WCW?
  23. The replacement music for Hollywood Hogan at WM 18 on the box set is just so hilariously bad it almost kills the whole epic atmosphere. What was he using, Voodoo Chile? I can't imagine they had a problem with the nWo theme.
  24. You are allowed to sell masters, and if you wanted to go through eBay's convoluted dispute system you'd probably win, but WWE has been using a scortched earth philosophy for handling eBay auctions. I've heard people say they were selling masters and got their auctions ended since WWE's legal team basically squashes any auction with WWE or WWF in the title.
  25. They won't come after you, but I bet they'll get it taken down.
