Summerslam 1988-1992
The 88 card always struck me as the end of the Rock N' Wrestling Era, as it was the first time I can remember a palpable sense of people getting tired of Hulkamania. Not to mention most of the 84-87 era stars doing the job as well.

Chris Jericho taking a hiatus from wrestling?
I wouldn't be shocked if it was true, especially since it's about the time HHH is expected back. Jericho has never been quiet about his feelings toward how his WWE career has gone, so perhaps he's hit his breaking point.

Unanswered Questions II
I'd like to know about the booking of that match myself. It sure seemed to change once the blood started flowing, not to mention I can't imagine Lawler (who's been in some of wrestling's bloodiest brawls) involved in a match where the finish was blood stoppage. *on edit* To clarify, I'm not saying they changed who was winning or anything, but they seemed to go home earlier than the pace would suggest.

Here's some others: In the Lawler - Von Erich match, Jerry mentions that Kerry kept his blade in the sleeve of his ring robe and sliced his arm. So was Kerry coked up or just a dumbass? He had a pretty established track record for both. When Ax was being phased out of Demolition, it was due to health problems. Considering he still wrestles indies from time to time was Vince just pushing him out the door? Whatever happened to Buddy Roberts from the Freebirds? I know he battled cancer a few years ago but I haven't heard anything for a while.

Lesnar offered WWE contract
Lesnar returning to RAW would pretty much seal the fate of Smackdown. I'm sure Vince wants him to make his return on a live show rather than a taped show, but if they don't put SOMEBODY with star power on SD soon they won't be able to get a new contract for it.

Those were on specialty sets (best cage matches and stars of the 80s). I'm talking about the DVDs devoted to one wrestler exclusively.

Unanswered Questions II
I haven't watched the Road Warriors DVD yet, but in the promos they always show clips from the "drunk Hawk" angle when they mention Hawk's real problems. Is WWE trying to suggest that angle was a shoot now? Why doesn't Vince realize that calling guys up that everyone says aren't ready is the most counterproductive thing you can do? What do you think the over/under is on Heyman getting himself thrown out of OVW? I can't see him not blowing up the first time a pet project of his gets called up to WWE and ruined. If Brock goes to SD when he signs, you think JBL will stiff him because he's been disrespectful of wrestling? The Boogeyman. Honestly, what the fuck? Will WWE ever include a decent non-WWE match on a DVD of someone who actually had good matches outside of WWE? Outside of the Flair set, I can't recall of any.

Lesnar offered WWE contract
If anyone has any brains left in WWE, they'd put him on SmackDown. They badly need someone like Brock to show they aren't a B level show. If they put him on RAW, they might as well cancel SD now.

Gimmicks that didn't work you think could work now
I looked like they were trying to do a Nailz-like gimmick with Nathan Jones before he exposed himself as completely inept.

July 27 in WWF/E History
I have like 9 CDs of individual matches in mpg or avi format, and one of them is the Backlund-Inoki match where Inoki wins the WWF title. It's an interesting match, you'd think their styles might not mesh well but it was pretty decent.

RAW 7/25 Thread
Based on HBK's promo, they seem to have decided to cheer him.

RAW 7/25 Thread
True, but at the same time it was a refreshing return to the old HBK which was a breath of fresh air over the boring face HBK.

Gimmicks that didn't work you think could work now
Waylon Mercy would have worked then too, had Spivey's knees not exploded. I agree, it would be huge if done the same way now. You could make the point that Chris Masters is proving the Narcissist gimmick wasn't too bad as well.

07/26 - Thoughts on the following wrestlers
Undertaker - I always felt Taker gets a raw deal from the smart crowd because he spent the prime of his career matched off with some of the worst workers in pro wrestling history. Frankly, it's a testament to his ability that he was able to become a huge star when he was feuding with guys like Mable, Yoko, and Giant Gonzalez. Arn Anderson - Probably the best tag team worker ever, he was able to work well with an amazing variety of partners. I don't think I've ever seen a bad Arn Anderson match, and that's not something you can say about a lot of people. Juventud Guerrera - It's almost enough to make you cry to think where he'd be if he didn't quit messing himself up with drugs. I hope he stays straight with this WWE gig he has now, he's got that silly-but-not-too-silly personality that's made for getting over WWE style gimmicks. Keiji Muto- The Steve Austin of Japan in the sense that he had two distinctly separate careers: A high-workrate early half, and the more brawling second half. Like Austin, the brawling second half seemed to be his biggest success period.

"Whaddya gonna do, fire me?" - that was classic.

RAW 7/25 Thread
How funny/sad is it when HBK can do a better shoot-style promo than people in a storyline based on real-life events. Not to mention the face pops he was getting for saying what most smarks think about Hogan. Heel HBK > Jeebus Lovin' Babyface HBK any day of the week. I even marked for him bringing back the "lays down for no one" catchphrase. The only thing that could top this is if Hogan comes out next week and cuts a promo mentioning all the times HBK lost his smile and had to give up a title. If both guys are willing to play ball, they could out-shoot the real life storyline.

Upcoming WWE DVD releases
Yeah but to my knowledge Rick Rude didn't go around telling everyone in earshot how much he disliked the McMahons.

Who figured Joey Styles a money mark?
Didn't he sign a deal with WWE in order to be on the ECW PPV?

Upcoming WWE DVD releases
I heard that not only was there an extra feature of people goofing, but pretty much everyone interviewed for the main feature saying how dumb the Warrior was. I tend to believe it since Warrior had the nerve to actually demand Vince honor the contracts he signed, then actually changed his name to Warrior so Vince couldn't keep him from using the name. We all know how forgiving Vince is towards people who got one over on him, and Warrior's steadfastly refused to return to WWE to kiss McAss so I wouldn't be surprised to see the DVD be a burial job.

The Black Ninja vs Prince Iaukea
It's amazing to watch when you consider the time. When you hear Gordon Solie sound like a clueless WWE pretty boy announcer because a guy's doing moves *he's* never seen before, you know that's someone special.

Bumpers
Bubba Ray Dudley is one of the most underrated bumpers, IMO. The way he takes bumps flat backed with his arms out makes every move sound devestating.

Sting vs. Steve Keirn (late 1994)
You'd think an outing like you describe would get someone more work, but knowing WCW they probably didn't appricate someone showing effort in a prelim match.
