  1. They had the XXX/AMW cage match on On Demand for a while and I honestly feel it was one of the best matches I have ever seen. Definately top ten, and probably top 5. Awesome mix of old school NWA style tag team wrestling with just enough spot action to keep it lively.
  2. What can TNA do? I don't think they can sell a PPV headlined by AJ Styles and Buck Quartermain...
  3. I don't think those listings are accurate, they had Impact airing at 1:30 AM on Fox Sports Pittsburgh when it actually aired at midnight.
  4. Now that I know that Impact has an airing at a time where I'm usually home to watch, I'm going to try to follow TNA more. What I saw was pretty decent. I mean, it's not 1989 NWA quality, but it's easily better than RAW of late.
  5. That reminds me, with all the Dusty bashing in vogue again, Scooter claimed that Dusty's booking killed cage matches after booking run of the 80s. The fact that both WCW and WWF had some sort of no blood policy at varying times had little to do with it, I'm sure....
  6. That line of thinking irritates me, for one, Meltz isn't God. Secondly, it seems to fly in the face of the complaint that doing something different (what everyone is begging WWE to do) is a sign of desparation. Maybe it will end up flopping, but that's the risk you take when you try something different.
  7. I love how Joey Styles is all sorts of offended over what's basically the modern version of the Iron Sheik gimmick. I mean, he worked for a promotion that had a crucifixtion, and almost had a guy bleed to death in the ring so naturally Hassan's the most offensive thing he's ever seen. Personally I love Hassan and Daivari. I love the fact that they're basically saying things that are right and that's why they are heels. I think they're in danger of missing the boat with him since they seem destined to make him a one note comedy heel. When Sgt. Slaughter came out to confront him, that was a golden opportunity to point out that he was once an Iraqi sympathizer rather than doing the usual rah-rah USA is great routine.
  8. I dunno, the matches all seem decent enough, and the all-cage gimmick is something different at least. I watched Impact last night and I was digging the "Saturday Night at Center Stage" vibe the have. Sure they can be WCW Lite at times, but the harsh truth is you can't have a promotion selling PPVs on the back of (to the average fan) no-name talent. The problem is you don't want to overpush the older name talent, and I think they've done as good a job as they can. Booking TNA is kind of like being manager of the Pirates, you can only do so much with what you have. I think they've done a pretty good job putting together entertaining PPVs, they certainly have a better record than the WWE has of late.
  9. Is Sting still active anywhere? I see he made appearances in TNA, and you'd think he might be interested in a WWE run since Shawn's Wrestling For Jeebus now.
  10. I agree with CJ, no Joey Styles = not a real ECW show. I wonder if they'll dig up Paul Ellering if/when they put the Road Warriors in the HOF.
  11. Indirectly, yeah I did. He was interested in the Kevin Nash Torch interview so I pointed him to the thread about it here.
  12. I started watching when I was about 5, so that would have been around 1983-ish. My grandfather was a wrestling fan, we used to watch Saturday Night on TBS. He spent winters in Florida and he used to go the shows down there, as he was a fan of Dusty Rhodes. I started watching the WWF between WM 2 and 3. I actually remember watching the match where Hogan got squashed by Bundy that left him having to have taped ribs at WM 2, but I really started watching the WWF full time during the build to WM 3. I remember seeing Andre walk out during Piper's Pit and just thinking "whoa, that dude's not human". A lot of the wrestling I watched in the early days was thanks to ESPN, they aired AWA and World Class TV shows. I remember watching the Rockers vs Rose/Somers bloodbath when it happened, thinking it was the best thing I've ever seen. I also remember my grandfather and my dad both on the edge of their seats watching the Hennig/Bockwinkel one hour draw on New Year's Eve. I've watched some puro, probably more than the average wrestling fan but not nearly as much as the hardcore puro guys. I've seen all the must-see classic matches and I'm familiar with the top names, but not so much on the up and coming guys.
  13. I think they lost faith in Gail Kim after she had a few matches where she had Jackie Gayda level bad blown spots, even getting hurt on one.
  14. This is really starting to piss me off, its like creative is a bunch of grade schoolers thinking of embarrassing things they can make the new talent do. Think about it, this is Jillian Hall for those who haven't seen her: Hey, a blonde with nice big fake yabbos, tailor made for WWE right? No, they want to give her the same "mole" gimmick Fred Savage had in Goldmember. Seriously, when they can't even think up a gimmick for their T&A, what hope do actual wrestlers have?
  15. Matt Morgan is now a newcomer who's a stuttering idiot, despite being part of Heyman's stable on SD not even a year ago. Why do the *insist* on giving newcomers the stupidest gimmicks possible? It's like they get off on putting as many obstacles as possible in front of people. MNM seemed to avoid it happening to them only because they're more interested in Melina than the team.
  16. I think we all saw this coming. Jericho has no chance of advancement as long as he's on the same show as HHH, so why re-sign for more years of cleaning up dog poo?
  17. I would assume discussion would mainly focus on WWE since its what most of us have the greatest access to. I'd like to talk more about TNA but its on at 4pm here and I don't get home from work till 5:30. Even the replays are off-schedule now since baseball season started. I was kind of digging the Thoughts About These Wrestlers threads, but there's only so much you can do with them. Perhaps I should start reviewing WWE DVDs for kicks. If people like Scooter can get a following I should be able to put some quality slop together.
  18. Edge seems to be really trying to raise the bar when it comes to being an asshole. The woman he fucked his friend over for gets turned on by the crowd and all he thinks of is the heat it'll get him.
  19. If I'm not mistaken (and I don't think I am since they show it as part of that "Don't Try This At Home" thing on every DVD), when the table broke Angle's head bounced off the floor with most of HHH's weight behind it since he was in position for the pedigree. You can see HHH try to let go once he felt the table give and he had a "oh shit" look on his face as they fell.
  20. Not to mention Stacy also started going out with Test who is (or was at least) pals with Shane.
  21. One day someone's going to get really pissed over this junior high bullshit and one of Vince's young hosses is going to end up in deep shit. Of course if that ever does happen, the worker will certainly be pushed under the bus despite the WWF/E locker room being completely out of control for at least the last 10-15 years.
  22. By the way, how has Vince not been the center of a multi-million dollar hostile workplace lawsuit? All these tales of childish initiations and not one legal case? C'mon, this is America - Land of Lawsuits.
  23. Man, the more I learn about wrestlers the less I want to keep watching. What a bunch of spoiled babies.
  24. I think people's (justified) HHHate makes them ignore the fact that he could go when he felt like it. Of course him only putting forth the effort when he feels like it is part of why he's hated, but what ever.
