Took it as a Beth Phoenix deal. Read her Twitter the past nine months and you will see what I mean. Can you summarize it so I don't have to read nine months of someone's Twitter? For some reason, this gave me a laughing fit.

The fictional wrestling show that hammers you over the head that they're not actually a wrestling company but a multimedia conglomerate? Brock's a fighter, the other guys are entertainers. It's not difficult.

Dana's right. He's petty and juvenile about it, but he's right. Meltz doesn't understand that it isn't rasslin' where everybody lives and dies by the last TV rating. They headlined network TV with no stars (sorry Nate) and still won the key demos. Fox is happy. Sure they want a bigger number, but no one's wringing hands behind closed doors. They signed a 7 year deal for a reason. Long-term strategy: it exists in real sports and real business. Something Meltz doesn't understand. And the Strikeforce comparison is way off. Strikeforce might still be on CBS if it wasn't for the brawl. That's what pissed off CBS, not numbers.

I remember it the same way. I as well. The "settle the score" bit was obviously a throwback to their original MTV match and I seem to remember Piper not wanting a title shot because he wasn't doing it for WCW, he was just doing it for himself.

Curious on why you say that. Seemed the consensus at the time was the office always had plans for Diesel because he was a massive guy in an era of stringent drug testing. Either way, a great coming out party for Diesel and the advent of the "monster cleans house" aspect of the Rumble that has been repeated ad nauseum since. I liked Owen's run early in the match, he got a great heel reaction and played off it well. Agreed with Savage being wasted. Liked the no-show entry, teasing it was Bret, before Bret came out a few spots later limping and having the crowd eating out of his hand. The finish was creative at the time and set up Mania well. I liked Finkel going to announce it before stopping mid-way through and going over to ask "are you sure?"

Agreed. I loved the build-up. This match is actually one of my guiltier pleasures. I always got a kick of Taker's supernatural stuff and them going completely over the top with it was fun for me. The sheer volume of heels was unwieldy. They could have cut the amount of bodies in half and kept them to Fuji guys or guys you could buy as Fuji allies and it would have worked better. Seeing Jeff Jarrett and to a lesser extent Diesel involved was almost more head-scratching for me than the post-match soliloquy and ascension to the rafters. DiBiase was actually worse than anything else about the match. If you took a shot every time he said "unbelievable" or "i don't believe it", you would be dead of liver failure before the segment was over. They were right!

Maybe he had copies of some of those documents, as a sort of "portfolio" for his next employers to show his previous success. Wouldn't he appear more successful if he stuck with the 93K number? At the time WCW was really laying the boots to the WWF. What better way than tarnishing their biggest moment ever? That actually makes as much sense as any other reason WCW operative Bresloff gave Dave the 78K number.

If he was working for WCW why did he still have access to WWF's internal records and be able to fax them to Dave? I swear the "Bresloff gives Dave the 78K number" is almost as confusing as insisting that there were only 78K in the building to begin with.

I don't think it was the point. Then you didn't "get it" Just finished filming The Expendables 2 and rumoured to be inducting Guns N' Roses into the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame in April.

WWF squashed WCW in the Invasion, because WCW guys were *wrestlers* while WWF guys were *superstars*. I guess. Actually, back when the plan was still "Shane McMahon presents WCW" and they were to air on Saturday nights, the WWF trademarked the term "WCW stars", clearly positioning them below the WWF superstars.

Just to be clear, what I meant that by that is that joshi encompasses pretty much every style imaginable, so if you can't find at least some stuff that you like, there might be some deeper issues at work. This reminds me of the logic used to attempt to make me appreciate the "Lord of the Rings" movies. I went and saw the first one with friends of mine that enjoyed the books. I hated it, thought it was ridiculous and even nodded off in the middle. Needless to say, I didn't spend the money to watch the sequels. But people kept saying to me how much I should see the sequels regardless. My question was always "are they anything like the first one?" "well yeah, but *insert long-winded explanation here*." Why would I want to sit through stuff I know I don't enjoy just to find something I *might* enjoy? Why can't I just spend that time watching something I know I *do* enjoy? Does that make me prejudiced against elves? Or does it just mean that my tastes differed from my friends' tastes in that instance?
