Biggest fall from grace
The way I've always known it is because Shawn disliked how Vader manhandled him. HBK threatened to get him fired or something to that effect.

Why is that?

What happened to make Sarge leave the WWF in the early/mid eighties? I remember reading about it somewhere (might have been here) but I don't remember the specifics of it.

Thinking about the PG-13 thread, and the discussion if talent were enough to supersede bad politics and/or attitude problems, would Sean Waltman's career have been different in a good or bad way had he not been one of the kliq boys?

ELO Wrestler rating system
Back in the day title opportunity losses meant more than they do now when Cena will defend against his PPV opponent on the house show circuit. One of the older fans of wrestling could probably pinpoint when title losses in the WWF stopped "meaning as much". I would personally include house show wins/losses/draws. I would also start at zero. I would also have the score spill over into the next year of matches as well. You can pinpoint that, say in 1997, Bret Hart started as a 2000, but ended up as a 2149 or 1876. A +149 or -124 for 1997.

ELO Wrestler rating system
It would be an invaluable asset for historical purposes, absolutely. If you're willing to do it, might as well. My fiancee only allows me to do so many projects at once. I don't know the scope of the size you're wanting to do, but I would personally organize whatever promotions you're going to do by their promotion and not the date. I would also categorize things in a certain way, like title defenses would be appropriately marked a la the Stuart New Japan results site. Also, if capable, record the match-times as well. There are a couple of sites around - historyofthewwe - Stuart's, Green Destiny, Puro Love, etc - those demonstrate the micromanagement required to undertake such an endeavor. I'd personally ask them for tips and pointers. It's the kind of project that will take up a considerable amount of time and should be done right to satisfy that time killing project. Not too sure about the math though. I'd just be curious about actual 10-8 kind of stuff. Maybe some of the mathematicians on this board can help with that. Sorry that I was dickish with my first response.

ELO Wrestler rating system
I am huge on lists and statistics and rankings and all things wrestling but I have no interest in doing something like that nowadays. I really don't care to know that John Cena is the "best wrestler because of his win/loss ratio".

CM Punk: Greatest Promo Ever
What pisses me off the most with that is that Caldwell doesn't think it should be Vince McMahon vs. CM Punk instead of Vince McMahon vs. John Cena. Punk is fucking closer to Austin in nearly every sense fashionable and Punk doesn't drink beer. At any rate, I think James' last sentence was an out of context paraphrasing of something McMahon has likely said before.

Is it really that big of deal though?

I'm tired of those politically correct word monsters. Seriously, they're only fucking words.

Tony Schiavone and early 90s WCW announcing
Who was the CZW announcer who parodied Joey Styles for so long that it became his regular shtick - "SOMEONE CALL 911!!!!! SOMEONE CALL 911!!!!". That dude sucks. Naylor, can you upload some of your Baba impersonations? EDIT: Maybe a future episode of Goodwill Wrestling could be devoted to Rob Naylor impersonations.

Mutoh, though his faults are great, he has had many memorable outings.

To be fair to both Styles and Ross though, some of the stuff they oversold deserved to be oversold. The barbed wire match with Sabu and Funk, or Mankind versus Taker in the cell comes to mind. If I were in attendance during either match, I would have been yelling too. Nevertheless, with some stuff, they did take it too far, like the aforementioned overselling of top tiered workers finishing maneuvers. However, it is still better than the high school kid sounding Indy commentators that are monotone 90% of the time.

What happened to AAA TV in the US?
That seems like it would be an interesting and awesome show, then.

Ross is better than Giant Baba, that's fer damn sure. Baba sounds like an alien. Naylor does the best Baba, though it is exaggerated a tad. Anyway, the standout Ross performance to me was the Last Man Standing match between Cena and Umaga. Ross was epic during that match. I think the distinction we should make is when we know Ross is being himself or when Vince and company are talking in his ear telling him to say certain things at a certain time. I could easily hear Vince tell Ross, "Oversell the hell out of the stunner."

TNA wrestlers can't be getting paid that well to want to be any part of something like that. Joe could become a full time gaijin for NOAH, New Japan, or All Japan if he wanted to.

Good Will Wrestling #16
Listened to the show last night. It was good, but not as good as some of the other shows I've listened to before. I would have liked to hear Naylor's thoughts on Punk's IWA-MS run - well, Naylor's thoughts on IWA-MS in general would be cool too. Also, Will, I think you said fuck more times than a couple Lewis Black stand ups combined.

The significance of a big loss
I think it was more health issues and Vince buying out St. Louis that ended Harley's days as a main eventer. Age might have had some to do with it too.
