  1. I'm hyped for the impeding debuts of Master G and Blaster Corbin.
  2. I really liked Modesto Aledo vs. Teddy Boy.
  3. I actually think the lumberjack strap match is the less appealing option due to Okada being a terrible brawler. A handicap match at least leaves the possibility of some mildly amusing Southern heel shtick from Gedo.
  4. Holy cow, this is wretched. It's like the episode of South Park where they start their own wrestling promotion.
  5. In the US at least, I think hair matches only work if it's a Kurt Angle/Buddy Roberts deal where the heel wears a wig after losing and the whole thing is played for comedy. It's hard to buy being forced to shave your head as a serious consequence in a promotion where matches are used to determine things like custody of a child. Then again, given WWE's track record with stipulations, there's a good chance the loser will just get a regular haircut like Kevin Nash in 2003.
  6. Hey, they're younger than Carlos Colon when he was a youngster in the 1993 Royal Rumble.
  7. There's no middle ground, it seems. Either they throw every idea they can think of against the wall to see what will stick or you're a bearded guy in trunks whose gimmick is you have good matches.
  8. Weekly PPVs? What a brilliant idea! How come no one ever thought of that before? PWInsider is reporting that the expected price is $13-15 a week, which is beyond insane.
  9. It's still real to him, apparently.
  10. It's an incontrovertible fact that Pollyanna has accused Meltzer of being part of a conspiracy against her, which calls her credibility into question somewhat. Setting that aside, the only credible allegation against Ospreay is that he caused her to lose a single booking with a single promotion, and even that story has holes. I can understand Dave not wanting to rush to judgment given that Enzo Amore lost his job with WWE not that long ago on the basis of a rape allegation that turned out to be completely bogus.
  11. I never watched so much as a millisecond of Game of Thrones, which meant that checking my Facebook feed on Monday mornings during the show's run was like reading Finnegans Wake.
  12. Nowhere near as dumb as a concert tour during a pandemic.
  13. Seth's nowhere near politically canny enough to be HHH's heir. There's no way in a million years Hunter would have allowed something like this to happen to him.
  14. Speaking of Cornette, we just had this: Which led to this: Cornette's become Dave Kingman. His average is low and he strikes out a ton, but he knocks it out of the park when he makes contact. And Jericho's tweet was the equivalent of a big fat hanging curveball over the middle of the plate.
  15. RIP to James Harris and good riddance to the retrograde wrestling culture that begat the reprehensible Kamala gimmick.
  16. So is Raw better than Smackdown now? Sure, Smackdown has Daniel Bryan and AJ Styles, but they also have the triumvirate of terror that is Braun Strowman, Bray Wyatt, and Baron Corbin.
  17. https://sturgis.com/events/all-events/eventdetail/333/-/fozzy Jericho's band is playing at the Sturgis motorcycle rally, where 250,000 dumbass bikers are congregating without masks. Road Wild is no longer the stupidest wrestling-related event to take place at Sturgis.
  18. "Oh my God! Is that...is that RETRIBUTION?" Fuck off.
  19. The impact of Rocky III on Hogan's popularity has been greatly overstated. Here he is on Johnny Carson's show in 1982. When he does his pro wrestling spiel (he even says "Hulkamania is running wild"), the audience reacts like he's a minor league attraction with delusions of grandeur. He would have been a huge star in wrestling regardless, but he wouldn't have become a crossover star if he hadn't gone to New York. In fact, geography was probably Vince's biggest advantage. Being based in New York gave him cachet with the media that he wouldn't have had if he were based in Charlotte or Minneapolis.
  20. The problem at the end of the day is that there was no way Verne could have matched what Vince was offering. Acquiescing to Hogan's demands to make him champion would have been even worse for the AWA in the long run because he still would have left without notice and the world champion in the eyes of their fans would have been working for the opposition. And for the record, Hogan/Vader at Superbrawl was really good.
  21. If the goal is to use McAfee to draw in non-fans and make Cole a bigger star by association, it'll almost certainly backfire because any match they have will make pro wrestling look like a joke to outsiders. If they work competitively, then the guy who held the top title in NXT for over a year had his hands full with a retired punter. But Cole just kicking McAfee's ass would be equally stupid because McAfee is way more physically imposing and Cole doesn't come across as a credible asskicker.
  22. He's apparently big with the frat boy Barstool Sports crowd. But even assuming those are the kind of fans you want to attract, I can't imagine this appealing to them. More likely they'll have a laugh for a few minutes over their guy beating up a fake pro wrestler and then go back to sexually harassing female sportswriters on Twitter. But it gets better. Now uncle Paul is issuing a challenge on itty-bitty Adam's behalf. LO-fucking-L. https://www.wwe.com/shows/wwenxt/article/triple-h-pat-mcafee-adam-cole-takeover-xxx-espn-get-up
  23. Just imagine how much worse it would've been for Cole if Hunter hadn't been there to come to the aid of his son.
  24. Weren't you fantasy booking Braun to be world champion? How's that working out for you?
