WWE TV Oct 3-9
It's probably the most appropriate response to most of my posts.

Is John Cena a better worker than Kurt Angle?
It occurred to me recently that Cena is more Angle-esque now than Angle ever was, so I decided to bump this. Honestly, I'm starting to think that a lot of people, myself included, owe Angle an apology. His workrate epics feel like paragons of minimalism and restraint compared to Cena's matches with Owens and Styles. Looking at what WWE main event style has become, criticizing Angle for being a spotfest worker seems rather quaint now, like old-timers in the 70s saying that Flair and Steamboat were all highspots and no psychology.

WWE TV Oct 3-9
The Observer website is reporting that Becky Lynch is off the PPV due to injury. This is what, the fourth major injury in the past two months? Not to mention all the busted lips and noses that, according to Dave in the latest Observer, happen almost every week. It's way past time to start toning down the in-ring style.

WON HOF 2016
Where did you get the idea that Tamura was considered the best wrestler in the world in 1998 and 1999? I strongly doubt that was anything close to a consensus opinion at any time.

WON HOF 2016
Dave discusses HOF voting in the current Observer. It's too long for me to quote in its entirely (it includes a discussion of the historical candidates), but everyone should check it out. I do want to quote a couple of passages because they almost seem like responses to arguments made on PWO and elsewhere.

Jim Ross claiming Goldberg v Lesnar happening at Survivor Series
I figured that "the right situation" meant a dumptruck full of money and some degree of creative control to prevent him from being booked like a complete goof.

Giant Baba
My understanding is that Seiji Sakaguchi was the one with the TV connections because he went to college with a lot of guys who became major executives.

"He's ambitiously stupid" - Why Scott Keith's new book is scary bad
In response to a reader suggesting that he check out the Dolph/Miz segment from Smackdown: My mind is made up! Don't confuse me with the facts!

On the Austin heel turn: This strikes me as revisionist history.

Dave Meltzer stuff
Maybe it's just me, but it seems like Dave really hates Sheamus for some reason. A few weeks ago on the F4W board, he said that Chris Hero was ten times the worker Sheamus is. And in his write-up of the Raw Foley/Sheamus/Cesaro segment in the current Observer, he wrote that Foley "said they were two of the greatest superstars he’s ever seen. He said that about Sheamus. I mean, there’s a limit of how far you can stretch credibility before it snaps." I don't remember Dave being this negative on him in the past, so I wonder if there's some kind of backstory here.

Is TNA the worst wrestling promotion in history?
TNA death watch update: Meltzer is reporting that they have no money to fund Bound for Glory and the next set of TV tapings and Corgan has until Friday to put together a deal. Good luck with that. This leaves WWE as the most likely suitor, and there are rumors that the sale has already happened. Of course, WWE just wants the video library and will pull the plug on TNA itself if/when the sale is finalized. You can't say anything with certainty given how many times this cockroach of a promotion has staved off certain death, but it looks like this really might be the end.

WWE TV 9/26-10/2
So it looks like they decided to do the exact opposite of what I predicted. Guess they figured no one would be watching no matter what they did so why not mail it in.

WWE TV 9/26-10/2
The debate is from 9 until 10:30. I'm curious to see if they'll throw a bunch of stuff against the wall to try to keep people from switching over. At the very least, I expect them to announce a killer main event to entice people to switch back.

Was bringing back the Cruiserweight division a mistake?
Are Finn Balor and Neville going to be put in the cruiserweight division? If not, it looks like Perkins, Kendrick, and the like aren't good enough to hang with the real stars. If so, it'll seem like a demotion, especially considering that Neville has been basically enhancement talent for a while now.

Dave Meltzer stuff
Insomuch that I do honestly believe, there can be no place in the world, where such intolerable abortions, begotten of the sculptor’s chisel, are to be found in such profusion, as in Rome. -Charles Dickens, Pictures from Italy Of all the things to get worked up over, this is among the dumbest. It's up there with being offended by the world niggardly. In fact, Julian Bond put it best in response to the latter controversy: "You hate to think you have to censor your language to meet other people's lack of understanding."

Dave Meltzer stuff
What's ignorant is not knowing that abortion has been used in a non-medical context to describe artistic atrocities for centuries.

WON HOF 2016
Dave on the F4W board: I asked if Mistico would be considered a great draw, and here's how he replied: I think it's safe to say that if Mistico isn't a slam dunk based on drawing power, Big Daddy and JYD don't have much of a shot.

Dave Meltzer stuff
It's nice to see that people bending over backwards to find things to be triggered by isn't just a recent phenomenon.
-
Dave Meltzer stuff
The thing is, Dave has bent over backwards in the past trying to insist that guys using the n-word as a "business term" were just trying to fit in to their environment and had no idea that people had a problem with it until well after the fact. I quoted what he wrote in the Observer a while back: http://prowrestlingonly.com/index.php?/topic/9754-dave-meltzer-stuff/page-259&do=findComment&comment=5639453

"He's ambitiously stupid" - Why Scott Keith's new book is scary bad
I doubt that's it, since he knows basically nothing about American football. Just today, he admitted to having no familiarity with Kevin Greene outside of WCW.

Great Punchers Of The 2000s
Eh, I remember Kevin's punches looking good in a match I saw a month or so ago. I can't remember if it was Raw or a PPV. What struck me was the fact that he throws them at a downward angle, which I think is the key to a good worked punch.

Wouldn't Curt Hennig be the layman's pick for top babyface in mid-80s AWA?
