WWE/NXT/AAA Worlds Collide and WWE Money in the Bank 2025
It should be noted that Smackdown the week before last did a shockingly low rating despite featuring Cena and Cody and having no NBA playoff competition. Raw is also doing disappointing numbers on Netflix. The big shows are still doing monster business, which is interesting because ratings have historically been a lagging indicator of popularity. Still, there are signs that WWE is starting to cool off somewhat. If nothing else, Vince's insistence on never turning Cena heel has been thoroughly vindicated.

The video isn't showing up for me, but I'm sure we all know what you're referring to. Still the greatest match of all time in my book. You know something is an absolute banger when you can just say the date it took place and people will know what you're talking about.

My favorite match from either team. Still one of the greatest tag matches in US history.

WWE TV Megathread
For all the grief I've given Seth over the years for dressing like a clown, I have to give him credit for at least trying to come across as larger than life. When I watched Raw a couple of weeks ago, I was struck by how almost everyone else came out in t-shirts and sneakers. Someone like CM Punk obviously shouldn't be wearing a suit and tie, but most of the roster would probably benefit from dressing in a way that makes them seem like a big deal.

I actually think WWE originally planned to give Cobb a serious push under his real name but ended up with buyer's remorse after they got a chance to kick the tires. The fact that they just filed for the JC Mateo trademark seems to point in that direction. If nothing else, he and AJ are sure to have some interesting conversations about the shape of the Earth and other scientific matters.

RIP Sabu
If Janela's claim that 85% of pro wrestlers are on kratom is even close to accurate, that has the potential to open up a massive can of worms for the industry.

RIP Sabu
https://pwinsider.com/article/195979/sabu-passes-away.html He was 60 and just had his retirement match a few weeks ago. Whatever else can be said about him, it can't be denied that he was one of the most influential and memorable wrestlers of the modern era with an aura like few others.

Is the empire crumbling before our eyes?
Excellent news. We can finally get the League of Nations reunion the world has been clamoring for. In all seriousness, what does Alberto bring to the table to justify having him under contract? Even setting aside questions of morality, the fact that AAA went down the tubes with him as the top star should be reason enough to kick him to the curb. By the way, what ever happened to Psycho Clown? Wasn't he the most popular wrestler in Mexico at one point?

Their Summerslam 2007 match is legitimately great.

Dark Side of the Ring
I thought it was pretty funny how much Graham's son hated Backlund even though he was estranged from his father for years. Come to think of it, Backlund himself would be a pretty good topic for a DSOTR episode. It really is remarkable how one of the biggest stars in the industry fell off the face of the Earth seemingly overnight without some outside contributing factor like injuries or drug abuse.

If you'll recall, AAA double-crossing AEW on the tag title switch with FTR and Dragon Lee was the beginning of the end of the relationship between the two companies. AAA did go crawling back to try to salvage the relationship shortly afterward, which seems to suggest that WWE promised them something in return but then reneged. I have to wonder if it was a deliberate attempt by WWE to manipulate AAA into blowing up their relationship with AEW to cut off a potential lifeline.

Is the empire crumbling before our eyes?
The IRS gimmick came about because Vince was mad about being audited. Anyway, current WWE is nowhere near the worst the company has ever been in terms of allowing the political views of the ownership to permeate the product. I personally find their overt propagandizing for the Bush administration in the 2000s to be far more reprehensible than anything they've done this year.

Dark Side of the Ring
It was supposed to happen. It set up many rematches that drew huge and was also considered poetic justice because Graham had won the title by pinning Bruno with his feet on the ropes.
