Kind of odd to cite WWE as precedent when there are far more instances of wrestlers changing established names after joining that company (like, say, Steven Regal). The Steves who kept their names had distinctive nicknames that served as Homeric epithets (Dr. Death, The Lethal Weapon). It would behoove one or both Mercedes to do likewise. What makes it even more incredible is that Barrios and Wilson are part of Vince's counter-coup when he's the one who fired them in the first place. It's like a 1999 episode of Raw.

Ratings have historically lagged behind attendance as a barometer of how hot or cold a company's product is. AEW's Seattle debut just drew more paid than WWE's debut in the same building. And their PPV business continues to be incredibly strong.

The biggest ramification of this announcement: It's what's best for business.

Jeff Jarrett isn't leaving me anything in his will, so I don't give a shit about how much money he's making for himself. With that said, I've enjoyed him in AEW so far and I'm fine with him being featured on TV as long as he remains at the level he's currently positioned and doesn't carny his way to another world title run. By the way, I strongly suspect that licensing old TNA themes to AEW is Impact's largest (only?) source of revenue at the moment.

In all seriousness, if Vince returned and WWE stock tanked as a result, he and the board would be facing a ton of shareholder lawsuits. It's entirely possible that claiming he wants to negotiate a sale is just a ploy to artificially juice the stock price so then he can say Wall Street wants him back in charge.

Wardlow got over by being Goldberg and killing people. Jade Cargill has shown that kind of act may get over huge initially but has a limited shelf life in this day and age. It was only a matter of time before the bubble burst.

So rich people making charitable contributions is only acceptable if it's done for purely selfless reasons? Would it be better if they spent the money on luxury goods or whatever and the charities got nothing? Also, the impact of donating a few grand to a charity GoFundMe on a rich person's tax bill is negligible at best.
