The AWA actually didn't draw that well in the Bay Area even with Hogan. Cable was stronger there than in most places, and the AWA seemed old and slow compared to Georgia wrestling on TBS. Verne got a date on Tommy Rich and he drew double what Hogan was drawing in the area. By the way, if Cagematch is to be believed, Hogan's last AWA match was in Phoenix of all places.

Isn't Regal a huge Smiths fan?

The AWA was by far the most geographically dispersed territory, stretching from Wisconsin all the way to northern California. He wasn't wrestling before the same crowds every week like Lawler at the Mid-South Coliseum or the Von Erichs at the Sportatorium. Also, he was gone a good part of the year due to his New Japan commitments, which surely helped prevent him from wearing out his welcome.

It does bother me that there are so many Motorhead songs that would be great entrance themes but are off limits because the band is so closely associated with HHH.

Motorhead appeared at Wrestlemania twice to play HHH's theme. Lemmy forgot the lyrics both times.

Fightful is reporting the injury is a work and they pulled the match so they can run it at the UK show.

Is the empire crumbling before our eyes?
Actually, it'll be interesting to see what becomes of Cody with HHH in charge of creative. After all, he surely remembers this: He hasn't been the type to forgive and forget in the past, but maybe his health scare changed his outlook.

Is the empire crumbling before our eyes?
Vince and Dunn both being out is huge. WWE could very well be unrecognizable several months from now.

The key to turning things around creatively is more skulls and ladder matches.

Ring of Honor Wrestling
There's only so much that can be done with a jacked-up mini who has zero charisma and wrestles a grounded style. Gresham having competitive matches with the likes of Claudio and Samoa Joe would simply look absurd.

The thing is, Tony only fires people for cause. If he simply doesn't have anything for someone, he rides out their contact and doesn't renew them. It would probably behoove him to have someone play bad cop on his behalf as opposed to freezing talent out and hoping they take the hint, but at least they're getting paid. That's what makes the Gresham situation so unusual. He had just signed with the company. And the Observer daily update seems to indicate that the way he did business didn't win him any fans in the locker room.

Workers who never had their best match
Claudio's match with Cena on Raw is probably the best PWG Cena match, for whatever that's worth.

Is Vince McMahon done?
Keep in mind that a lot of folks on Wall Street think Vince is the only person capable of running a wrestling company. Even if he intends to continue running things behind the scenes, the fact that he would risk damaging the share price with the perception of being out speaks volumes. Also, Real Sports is working on a story on the allegations. They're not going to waste their time simply regurgitating what's already out there, especially for a story on an industry most legitimate media consider beneath them. Don't be surprised if the floodgates open.

Is the empire crumbling before our eyes?
This is probably the biggest indication that it's legit. Brock only deals with Vince.

For Borne, wouldn't the 2/3 falls match with Marty Jannetty qualify?

I liked Mauro well enough when he was doing NJPW on AXS. I don't remember anyone having a problem with him back then either. I'm hesitant to judge anyone based on their WWE work because they bring out the worst in everyone.

Workers who never had their best match
The HIAC match with the New Day would probably be the closest.

Ric Flair (sigh)
When I saw people saying that Flair was teaming with his son-in-law, I initially thought that Conrad had worked his way into the match.

Everyone who turned on Hogan was justified. I remember a thread here that extensively chronicled what an asshole the Hulkster was even to his friends.

Anyone ever experience the Mandela effect with a match? It happened to me with Rick Rude vs. Ricky Steamboat at Superbrawl. I vividly remembered a spot where Rude hit Steamboat with a left-armed clothesline outside the ring and then sold his arm because it was the arm Steamboat had been working over. When I rewatched it recently, it turns out the spot took place inside the ring and was shot at a completely different angle from what I remembered. The spot on the outside at the correct angle was Rude guillotining Steamboat on the guardrail. I have no idea how I conflated the two in my head.
