WWE TV 07/29 - 08/04 Olympic Edition
He's just being a homer for his fellow yinzer.

AEW TV - 7/24 -7/27 - Prestige Worldwide Presents Blood & Guts
WarGames is an inherently flawed concept. If the match can't end until everyone is in the cage, there's no reason to care about anything that happens beforehand. Anarchy in the Arena (or at least the first one) manages to distill the best aspects of WarGames while eliminating the biggest flaws.

WWE TV 07/15 - 07/21 Football is, in fact, not coming home
Maybe he wants to be Kamala's running mate. They'll win by double digits if he calls JD Vance a bathturd during the VP debate.

The speech went about as expected. And Trump blew Hogan a kiss. Seriously.

The thing is, I don't remember Priest ever being presented as any kind of street urchin. He's always been a vaguely vampiric goth Latin ladies' man who practices archery. Beyond that, the race-baiting heel is another aspect of wrestling the way it used to be that belongs on the ash heap of history. And WWE should be bending over backwards to avoid doing anything that even hints at being racially charged. There can only be so many innocent mistakes before they stop warranting the benefit of the doubt.

Is the Network worth it?
If you mean Peacock, I'd say so. The interface is a bit unwieldy and the ads are annoying, but you get all the old PPVs as well as old episodes of Raw and Smackdown. There's also a ton of non-WWE content to check out as well. Worst-case scenario, you cancel after a month and you're out six bucks. Alternately, Instacart+ includes Peacock membership and they offer a two-week free trial.

WWE TV 07/08 - 07/14 The Rascalz make their way into WWE!
I was under the impression that Mexican promotions didn't have contracts but booked on a per-appearance basis like in the old days. That would explain how guys like LA Park are able to come and go seemingly at the drop of a hat. Some more potentially interesting news on the women's front: it was recently revealed that Jordynne Grace's TNA contract had been amended so that it expires January 2025 instead of August 2025. The 2025 Rumble is on February 1st.

Top 100 Matches from Mexico List Attempt
MS-1/Sangre Chicana. That seems to be the go-to even for folks like myself who aren't normally fans of lucha.

WWE Money in the Bank 2024 - How many more Drake vs Kendrick references do they have in stock?
Jacob is by far the best worker in the Bloodline. A Jacob/Cody title match will bang hard.

In fairness, he was likely concussed after hitting his head on the table. Still, this is Tonga Loa we're talking about.

Top 100 Matches from Mexico List Attempt
Cool list, nice to see someone else has Hijo del Santo/Brazo de Oro as their #2 apuestas match. I'm a bit surprised 1997 Santo/Casas and 1996 Santo/Dandy/Casas didn't make your top 100 since those matches seem to be universally revered among lucha enthusiasts.

Dark Side of the Ring
The WWF couldn't get a deal for WCW because TNN had exclusive rights to all WWF cable programming. That was what killed Vince's first attempt to buy the company in 2000. Trying to figure out who killed WCW is like investigating a plane crash. A disaster of that magnitude is usually the result of bunch of things going wrong in succession rather than a single culprit.

WWE TV - 6/24 - 6/28 - Chad Gable Is The New Undertaker
The closest example I can think of is Jeff Jarrett after losing the title to Sting in TNA. I don't know how big he was as a babyface, though. In other news, Braun Strowman continues to be very bad at social media.

AEW TV - 6/26 - 6/29 - The Steps To Forbidden Door
680k and .22 for Dynamite. Obviously an improvement over the disaster of last week, but still the second-lowest number of the year in the demo and third-lowest in total audience. At this rate, Ospreay will be main eventing Wembley against Shane McMahon.

R.I.P. Sika
The Wild Samoans have one of my favorite origin stories. Afa and Sika were huge fans (in both senses of the word) who would go to shows at the Cow Palace and try to attack the heels, particularly opponents of Peter Maivia. Roy Shire decided to bring them into the business for the sake of the safety of his wrestlers.

Has it passed me by?
In this instance, I believe he's referring to the Cena spot and the Eddie Guerrero tribute. I liked the first one because it played into Kingston accusing Punk of becoming what he had previously railed against during the build, but the second one fell flat for me as well. Anyway, here are a few more matches from this decade I think are worth checking out: Darby Allin vs. Brian Cage (Dynamite, January 2021) WALTER vs. Tommaso Ciampa (Stand and Deliver 2021) Becky Lynch vs. Bianca Belair (Wrestlemania 38) Kazuchika Okada vs. Kaito Kiyomiya (Mutoh retirement show) Owens/Zayn vs. Usos (Wrestlemania 39) Kazuchika Okada vs. Bryan Danielson (Wrestle Kingdom 18) Gunther vs. Sheamus (Raw, May 2024) The second Hangman/Danielson match is my current MOTD, but I don't recommend going in cold because you have to be familiar with Danielson's previous AEW work to fully appreciate it.

WWE TV - 6/17 - 6/21 - Owned By A Contraction. Again.
How about this: Hikuleo debuts and joins the Sikoa faction while Zayn and Owens align with Roman to make it 5-on-5. Speaking of Hikuleo, WWE filed a trademark application for the name Talla Tonga, which is actually pretty clever.

AEW TV 6/19-6/23 MJF vs Hechicero? Really?
When you're talking about the worst number Dynamite has ever done in its normal time slot, excuses like lead-ins and competition go out the window. The bottom line is that they put on a show people didn't want to see. The historical pattern is for attendance declines to precede ratings declines, so it could simply be that AEW's ticket woes have finally caught up to them. Regardless, that number is such an outlier that we need to wait until next week to determine if it was a fluke or the start of a trend.

Is the empire crumbling before our eyes?
I suppose I'd be fine with this as a one-off just for the WTF factor, but I have zero interest in seeing him become an AEW regular. Remember when WWE fired him because he wanted to make the 2022 Rumble all about himself and threw a fit when his ideas kept getting shot down? You have to figure he'd be even more of a nightmare in a company not run by his father.

WWE TV - 6/17 - 6/21 - Owned By A Contraction. Again.
I will eat my words and concede that Bray Wyatt really was a genius if this gets Bo Dallas over as a main event heel and it doesn't die horribly once he starts actually wrestling. By the way, Uncle Howdy nearly tripped and fell right after his big reveal, so we came dangerously close to another Shockmaster moment. I will also concede that Bray was hamstrung somewhat by the constraints of the PG environment. He would have been much more effective if he had been able to bloody people up rather than terrorize them with puppets.
