  1. Danielson and Ibushi are two sides of the same coin if you think about it. They both overcame the size/indy stigma to become main eventers in their country's biggest pro wrestling promotion. They both work a high-risk style that has led to serious injuries. And they're both known for working matches with inanimate objects (Ibushi with Yoshihiko, Danielson with The Miz).
  2. Apparently Janela was supposed to go over, but he called an audible and changed the finish when he saw how over the kid was. He seems to have an eye for up-and-coming indy talent, which makes him an asset to AEW even if he doesn't have an official role as a talent scout. I was going to say the kid's in good hands if Buddy Wayne is his father (he's the one who trained my guy Darby Allin), but I just found out that Buddy died four years ago. Still, it looks like he's more of a Terry Funk than an Erik Watts.
  3. It needs to be remembered that in Booker's very first promo in TNA, the first thing he did was mention WWE and shill his book explaining why he left.
  4. https://www.f4wonline.com/wwe-news/ric-flair-will-never-go-back-wwe-couldnt-work-nick-khan-360626 Vince loves me, but that son of a bitch Nick Khan...
  5. CM Punk's current run is the one I've enjoyed the most. I've liked Darby Allin the most over the course of the year.
  6. My 2021 ballot is as follows: I'm more comfortable with tiers than linear rankings, so it's probably best to view my list as top 30-power gap-middle 30-power gap-bottom 40.
  7. The simple answer is that history is written by the victors. In a world where WCW wins the Monday Night Wars, the worst of Attitude Era WWF would be looked at the way the worst of late period WCW is now. Another key difference is that the WWF was on fire in 1999 and WCW was falling apart in 2000. When a promotion is hot, the great stuff feels even greater and the bad stuff is easily forgotten. When a promotion is cold, the reverse is true.
  8. He didn't just RT an anti-vaxxer. He posted an IG story calling one of his anti-vax tweets a "really good post" and then posted some drivel about looking at both sides when he got called out. But if Tito Ortiz and Gina Carano taught us anything, it's to never expect intelligence from people who get punched in the face for a living.

    Same energy.
  10. I changed my picks to reflect my 2021 GME ballot. New top three for 1982, 1985, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1996, 1998, 1999, 2005, and 2012.
  11. Tanahashi had to apologize for causing bad publicity for the industry after his crazy ex-girlfriend stabbed him. Japan is weird sometimes.
  12. HHH's downfall was hilarious at first, but it's actually become pretty sad. Especially considering his health issues, which must be serious given how hush-hush everyone is.
  13. Well, this aged like milk.
  14. It's almost as if there's this thing called the Internet where people who want to see attractive women in revealing clothing can do so without having to sit through matches involving barely trained wrestlers.
  15. I really wanted to go to this, but I have to be up at the ass-crack of dawn for work and I'd be too wiped out the next day. By the way, for those wondering how the show is being advertised locally, "Virginia's own Adam Page" is the third guy mentioned in the radio ads after Punk and Danielson. I heard one of the ads with my mom, and when they mentioned Chris Jericho, she was like "Jericho? Isn't he old?" She also asked me if I knew about that "wrestling league."
  16. Going back to the original question, that thing Lance Archer does where he scoops his opponent up and then gently places them down in position for an inverted DDT is the worst.

A small request for brother @Matt D: if you could put your reviews behind spoiler tags, it would make it a lot easier for me to scroll through the thread when I'm on my phone. Thanks.
  18. Speaking of wrestling parents, have they even attempted an explanation for why Adam Pearce hates Rey Mysterio all of a sudden?
  19. If Omega wants to heal up, he should seek treatment from a real doctor and not a quack chiropractor.
  20. New #1 for 2021.
  21. Same here. That was the best pure brawl to come down the pike in ages. Punk is probably the smartest wrestler in the world right now.
  22. It does seem that balancing out the coke rages with roid rages is the key. When you only work with one half of the equation, you end up like Herb Abrams.
  23. Beating Savage for the title might have been better for Warrior in the long run, though. For one thing, Hogan/Warrior actually drew a disappointing buyrate. In fact, it was nearly outdrawn that year by Summerslam. Also, Hogan did far more to get himself over in the loss than he did to get Warrior over in victory. And even if he hadn't, by forcing the fans to pick a side, it seems inevitable that Warrior would have come across as the lesser star. There's a reason Pedro or Backlund never beat Bruno.
  24. One of the Spice Girls called Sami Zayn a pussy. Probably the weirdest Mad Libs feud since Randy Orton vs. Soulja Boy.
  25. WWE has more of a leg to stand on here since they own UUDD and always have. Also, the G4 deal is an official WWE content partnership. Regardless, it goes without saying that wrestlers who work on their own time to get themselves over as stars, especially to a younger demographic, should be rewarded for their hustle and not nickel and dimed. The guy who wrote the Pillman book (he posts here sometimes, but I don't remember his username) said on the F4W board someone in the know told him at the end of August that Woods has one foot out the door and he and Big E are going to AEW once their contracts are up. You'll note that since then, Big E has become WWE champion and Woods has become King of the Ring. Hopefully they know their value and won't be marks for a belt or a push.
